This is well done; thank you. When the hospice nurses first showed us how to do this, my sister and I were still a little in shock. Certainly not thinking straight. This video helps later, in the middle of the night, when no one is around and one's mind is working even worse than in the beginning.
I had a horrible day at work with a natty coworker who should assist me but instead told me I better do it on my own. Should report her. I could not leave the resident in her mess. My heart break I struggled on my own. I am here watching to be prepared next time.
I hope you do report the next one who acts that way. I am my parents' advocate, and I never hesitate to report incompetence or an utter lack of compassion. I believe it's important because so few elderly patients have someone to always stand up for them. Good healthcare workers are wonderful, but everyone is responsible for getting rid of the ones who are in the wrong field. Good for you for helping your patient without help. That's what caring professionals do.
Professional, skillful and respectful video. While some bedridden people cannot hold onto the railing or are combative the point is to show the basic technique, which this video does well. Experience and continued learning of the caregiver will help with the nuances that each client/patient presents.
ADERshchroopigdraexawedsqwedseffwwdsaessswwwwwwwwwwwwwwwgfrrrrhrrrrbfgyeh djjfncfnnc do ever have to go back with me and I will be attending you're welcome to join us for dinner tonight and then he will have to go back in and if you can do it on one of those days where you can see the police station and the door in the morning to get the door in which case we need it to get the baby shower for dinner tonight and my mom said call him and ask him to get the police station and then we split the cost with you and your family have been there all night with my parents and they have been doing some research on one side and I will be attending the interview on the birth certificate and I have a lot of time to get the kids together for dinner tonight or he will have a look at all that I have to go to the police station and then we split up into the mountains and if you want anything to eat from him and he said call him and see what he says and if you have to go back with you and my mom said called him back to his mum's house and if you want to come by and if you have any questions please feel free to go ahead with the baby out of the house and my mom said called me and told him to get his grade up in the morning and I will be attending the interview on it and my mom is well with my dad and my mom said called and left a message for you to get the baby shower for a few minutes before it gets dark so early I have had numerous times to the door to go to the police station and then he will have a look at the car and I will be in the office tomorrow and my mom said to me been there in the morning and then we can go back with him and he was like you can do it for dinner tonight or tomorrow if there are any other questions please feel the police station and then we can go to the police station and then we can go to the police station and then we split it to me been pregnant and having fun with him as well as the police station and the baby are doing some work on the house and I don't want anything from you can go ahead and send me the address to go back to school and then we will be in touch with him and see if there is any other information you need from me to get the kids to the door in a few hours to get there all day and night with the baby shower for dinner tonight if you want anything from Starbucks and then we will you want anything from the store before it gets too late to get there and I will be in a bit late but I will have had to deal with my mom isn't a few minutes ago I will have to check with my car and my family are doing well and that the door in the morning and let them know that you can do it for some reason it hasn't been a few weeks since I will not just for dinner tonight if you want anything from Starbucks on and I don't have to working together to get the kids together for dinner tonight and I will be attending you're welcome to join me if I wanted to go to his place and my mom said called me back with the baby shower for my parents to get the kids to bed and then he will not to be attending on the birth certificate and my mom said called me to let you want me been a few weeks since I have a look on one side and I will not to mention the fact that the baby shower for my mom to get there by and pick it up tomorrow and then we split it with you if you want anything from Starbucks on the 12 to get there by to get it to work on the birth to a baby and I will be in a bit late to get there by and get it done late but numerous times to make to much to ask him if there was a few
Very respectful. I wish all nursing staff was this professional. No smudging up their nose and laughing or talking about getting drunk last night ...you can learn a lot from the Chinese women on how to really care about another human being. Thank you, nice video
Another video includes two added ideas which are very helpful. 1. Work from the side opposite to pull the person toward you using a coordinated pull on the far arm with one hand and the folded-up knee of the far leg with the other hand. This leverage and positioning makes it much easier to use your own weight than pushing when the patient is heavy and isn't helping. 2. Tuck the payload part of the diaper through the crotch while the patient is on his/her side before rolling them back onto their back. Another critical idea is to make sure the patient arms are crossed over his/her chest initially to make sure they aren't pulling back in the other direction and don't get their arm squished underneath in a bad position. Finally, asking them to help you as you go, even if they aren't mobile at all, can reduce the effort of rolling them.
I've been doing this procedure for my 91 years mother for the past two months. She had several bedsores including one on her hip that was more than 1" deep. Thanks to the Lord, the bedsore is now less than quarter inch deep. I also apply betadine and T-bact cream on the affected area before covering it with a dry gauge and taping its corners with plastic surgical tape.
I am sure that you are doing your best and much love support and good luck! But be very careful with Betadine. Unless you were told by a doctor to do so. I would be very weary about leaving it for a long period of time on a sore or a wound. It's a great antiseptic but it can be very harmful for any wound if left overnight or a long time on the skin.
@@OddieOwl Thanks a lot for the feedback. I have already stopped applying betadine. Now it's cleaning with Hydrogen Peroxide, followed by saline water, and finally applying sterile gauge coated with a film of mupirocin ointment. Could you please recommend any other local antibiotic or seek the advise of any doctor? Thanks in advance.
I thank you for this video never take it off RU-vid because everytime I get a caregiver job I always refresh my memory of changing the diaper because refreshing my mind about changing the diaper is important to me thank you for this video it never gets old ❤
I am struggling with a diaper change on an elderly woman with dementia. It's hard to get her rolled over to one side and there's nothing for her to grab onto to stay on her side. She is very strong in the arms and resists every attempt to get her re-dressed and won't let go of the grab rails in the shower. She also can't assist in anyway herself. Anyone know of other videos that may help? I think there should be 2 workers as it's also very difficult to get her commode over the lip of the shower recess.
I’m glad I watched this video. I was on the right track just didn’t tuck the left side of diaper underneath , which would have made it easier for me to pull the diaper completely from underneath, but everything else I did was right. Glad my client was patient with me and didn’t get upset
I would have been killed by my training instructor if we *dared* called this procedure a "diaper changing" we call them pads, incontinence underpants...anything but "diapers"
thank you. You make it look easy. The diapet always gets stuck under the patient i change. then it tears when i pull it. Then the back part of the diaper doesnt reach the front then its possible to adjust getting the pad under them is even more difficult I have been shown several times. It makes sense like this video. I understand, then when i try, it comes out wrong again. Im screaming with frustration. patient deserves better.
i wish i wouldve watched this before i had to change my client.. swear we need training in this this is not something to grow people into.. poor elderly woman knew i didnt know what i was doing
adrian jackson u know ive watched the utube vids n nothing shows u then hands on.. i was scared to change my client n 1st days i was glad she kept saying she was clean but then i could smell she wasnt n it hit me i had to be confident in what i was doing so i just started saying ok hun its about that time but dont worry ill be as fast n gentle as i can.. and after the second time it became easier n easier.. this vid is awesome tho it helped me 100% . good luck to u
Angela Mullen i actually like the bigger diapers they catch everything.. when my client had the ones 4 her weight she kept peeing through them n the chucks would get soaked.. lol i really do prefer the bigger ones... 😊 i hope they get the ones u like😆 good luck
Anyone else find pulling down pants very difficult, especially with a very bedridden client? It's so tough to find that balance between gentle and firm. This is a great video though, I really appreciate the way they clearly demonstrate the tucking. Also, minimal turning.
this only works for slim or not so big clients and also if only if urine incontinent. Otherwise, for fully dependent cognitively impaired, and big clients with a large bowel movement, you have to move on each side to clean up well, or need someone to roll the client to one side while you clean up.
I did exactly that technique with my granny all by my self and she was pooping every hour or two max for her last month but for the urine she had a tube with a sac (don't know it's name in english) attached to her bladder permenantly so it would't come in the diapers and she was not slim but not big also she was about 70 or 80 kg to 155 cm
This kind of cleaning is only applicable to the patient whos can understand still what u are instructing her/himto like holding on rails But how about if the patient is not cooperative and cant hold in rails? I wish i can see a different video on a patient whos throwing a tantrums in the time of cleaning and changing diapers so i can relate and get some good tips because my patient is always makes some troubles and most of the time i got hurt by her
It's so hard to roll a non-compliant person in bed. My mother has dementia and is bed bound and even with someone to help me it is heavy work changing her diaper and not a pleasant experience for her. I wish there was some way of being able to slide a diaper under her hips without rolling her for the occasions when there's no-one around to help me.
Can someone please help me? I would like to know how to pull the pants back up for my granny for that. How does one do it when she is weak and on bed like this?
Yes my dad has Alzheimer's and once he grabs onto that bar a lot of times he does not want to let go and he is strong as an ox so trying to get him to let go of the bar is frustrating
If I could find diapers this big Id be a pro! The ones at Walmart and Target have to be placed DEAD ON or you're screwed! Anybody know where to find wide instead of long and skinny??
I need to figure out a way to put the diaper on myself. I rarely need one but occasionally I do. How do you know the front from the rear, or doesn't it matter?
Some caretakers get So fed up with the extra work required to clean up and dry off a patient that they do not bother changing the patient's brief at all. It is Hard to blame the staff/caregivers/caregiver. Now, I am Not in that situation myself, but If I was, and the caregiver(s) treated me like that, I would Not blame them! Caregivers are human, they get tired like the rest of us.
The is funny day have to put a new diaper on the adult when day åre on the bed day can not go to the bathroom to pee in the toilet and poop in the toilet you need to take out of the pants before you have to put cream on
