We are proud to release a new video from our Live Outside series recently recorded and filmed in the ancient West African Village of Kirina, Mali. This performance features Mahamadou Diabate and Sayba Diabate on the traditional instruments, calabash and kora, as well as PFC Band member, Roberto Luti, on steel guitar. This village is the home of one of our PFC Foundation music programs-Ecole de Musique de Kirina, and also holds the roots to traditional Mali music and the Blues.
"Although it is one of the poorest economic places on earth, I have never seen happier people in my life and this teaches us that it's not about what we have or don't have but rather what we do with what we have and how we treat each other," says PFC co-founder Mark Johnson.
Let's use this performance as an inspiration to create a better world around us; one that understands that no matter how many things in life divide us, they are never as strong as the power of music to bring us back together. One heart and one song at a time.

Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.
