That's the lovely thing about this series, and the entire Fate verse in general. I love Diarmuid, in fact he's honestly my favorite character of the entire Nasuverse, which is currently my number 1 fictional franchise of all time. However, you can't necessarily blame Kiritsugu for his actions. He was right, and was justified. But the same can also be said for Saber and Lancer. If there was one way to save the entire world, and that only way was to become the most heartless bastard on the face of the planet, I'd probably do it. Yet, if you do so much evil, are you really saving the world, or are you just continuing the cycle of hatred? That is why Kiritsugu's "by any means necessary" view is so interesting to me; at heart, he's truly a good guy, but the way he goes about things is slightly questionable. Artoria and Diarmuid both oppose this view, and hold deep respect for those they battle, yet that can also lead to personal weakness and failure. After that, then what's the point? There's a happy medium between honor and by any means necessary. And that was one of my favorite aspects of the show lol. Sorry for the ramble, lol. I thought it'd be good just to appreciate how works of fiction can go so deep in their characters, that it almost seems like at the end of the day no one is truly 100% wrong. Just like in real life

This right here is why I hate Kiritsugu so much. I don't care what anyone else says he's nothing more than a delusional murderer who convinces himself that he is a hero. He probably was one once but along the way, he lost himself and for that, I feel sorry for him. The end doesn't always justify the means what's the point of creating his ideal world if it's built on the corpses of the innocent? (Of course, I'm talking about the other people he killed not El-melloi). To me, he's nothing more than a hypocrite. He's no hero of justice what's that saying you either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain.

Il est fou de voir à quel point les gens sont incapables de réagir autrement qu'avec de l'émotion brute. Prenez un peu de recul les gens ! Même si Diarmuid meurt d'une façon atroce, il faut quand même comprendre que la malédiction qu'il profère sur le graal est très loin d'être chevaleresque ! En effet, il est le seul servant de la génération Zero a avoir vu son vœux accompli. Il a bel et bien lutté jusqu'au bout pour son seigneur sans le trahir. C'est son propre vœux qu'il maudit. Je suis d'ailleurs assez content que le visage torturé de haine et de douleur soit son visage de fin, car la légende de Diarmuid, c'est ça : Un beau gosse qui sait qu'il est irrésistible et qui, pour des intérêts personnels alors qu'il a juré servir autrui, va user de ce pouvoir... Je suis désolé mais Diarmuid est l'apogée de l'hypocrisie. Ce n'est d'ailleurs pas pour rien qu'il fut si hypnotisée par Excalibur... Tout simplement parce que la chevalerie qu'elle représente est bien plus pure que celle qu'il arbore.

Kiritsugu is an insanely good written Character but i still fucking hate him and he Absolutely deserved his Despair at the end of the series after all he has done! Like this scene here, what was the Point of Murdering Kayneth after making this deal? He had no Servant any longer and his Magic Circuits were Crushed as well, so even if he wanted, he could have probably not done Anything in this war anymore, he Already took pretty much anything from Kayneth so what was the Point in that? In most cases, most of Kiritsugus Actions are somewhat Excuseable by saying that the Ends justify the means but this here was just Straight up Murder as they were not even Masters anymore and it didn't serve any Higher Purpose at all! Hell, even the Scummiest Mages in Fate usually Honor an unbreakable Contract which is also the Reason why i could always Vomit when he or Shirou call him an "Hero of Justice"! Like i said, he is an Extremely well written Antihero and i respect him for that but i still hate him more than Almost any other Fate character (Except for Shinji, fuck that dude)

Guess the magic contract works like garbage though. As it specifically mentioned Kiritsugu would and should not even be able to intend to harm Archibald. Yet he ordered his apprentice to kill him either way. Even if he gave the order way before signing the contract, its magic should have somehow forced him to recall the order, or maim/kill Kiritsugu for knowingly doing so either way. Magic contracts are garbage it seems.
