I love how you take what seems like a complicated subject and break it down so that it seems so simple. You have developed an incredible musical talent but you are also a phenomenal teacher.

Great explanation! It never occurred to think of the double stops as elements of the triad chord shapes played on the top three strings. It makes it so much more intuitive.

Awesome lesson. The concept of using triads and playing the 3rd 4th and 6th in relation to the root in each inversion was a light bulb moment... Many thanks again

This is why knowing some theory will help your playing. Now I need to go back to Jack's triad course (which I have) and dive in even deeper. Thank you Jack!

Y'know, I always catch my self smiling when I hear you playing. There's just something soulful, beautiful, and soaring about the note choices. The only other musician who has the same effect on me when I listen is Pat Metheny (& the late Lyle Mays on piano). I also want to add that your triad course with Brett is pure gold!! Thanks as ever Mr Ruch!

I always love using double stops but have only had a few that I knew worked. I’ll have to work on learning all of them with this. Thanks!

You should hold on to that 335 Jack. Surely you can find a way to add another one to your Arsenal without letting that one go 😉. I hope it’s another vintage 335 (with either TOM or Bigsby) that you’re getting

Great lesson again JR! I believe I've already mentioned this to you, but I already have the sister ship 1968 ES 335 to your here in the same great Gibson cherry finish as your other one...........otherwise I'd certainly be quite interested. Jim C.

thanks Jack. This lesson is unlocking one of the doors I have not opened in my playing. Really really appreciate how you give a concept and then apply it to a song or chord progression. Not many others on RU-vid do that. Question on this lesson: are you consciously trying to land on the diads for the chord you are playing over or just staying in the key and moving around to different diads in that key or both. Thanks

New player question, so it might be dumb, but are power chords technically double stops then?

I don’t understand the thing with the 4th and the 6th… you play the 1,3,5 that constitute the triads. How come you say we get the 4th and the 6th when playing two strings together?
@richcain123
@richcain123 11 месяцев назад
The 4th is the interval between the 5 and the 1, and the 6th is the interval between 3 and 1.
