Wow! Ideal parent child relationship which Indian society needs to witness... Atleast mother here is not imposing anything on her daughter but just insisting. When parents would understand that their children's choices about their own life do matter, then mental health issues would reduce to great extent and family stress won't be a word at all...

@ yeah they may be the obvious and harsh side of the spectrum of mental issues... But not to forget the smiling depressed individuals! Those emotional blackmails from apparent loved ones, those baseless threats from someone your trusted etc... All counts... Basically anything external which makes you disturbed from within becomes a risk factor of mental health issue... So we need to learn to be unaffected by external factors as much as possible. ♥️

Like to differ here. Parents are behind us say marriage for a reason. No one in world will selflessly love and care the way parents does. Not necessarily child at that stage may take such huge decision alone and parents help. Their ask is not forcing but from experience they speak and know their child behavior as well.

But look around and explore and you'll find those conservative parents who force their one-sided expectations over children just to satisfy societal folks and the famous "log kya kahenge" and "izzat" stuffs... Many parents refuse to identify their children as an 'individual' & so they find it difficult to entertain and realise that children too have personal dreams, desires and aspirations, & I don't think destiny of Children is to keep getting suppressed under these cumulative expectations 🙂 Say anything different and you'll be thrashed, start a discussion and you'll be shown that you are bound to remain quiet and not utter a single word... See around & many have struggled out to live out their dreams be it in career, education, or relationships...

Same problem here my parents created matrimonial site without my consent . I just finished clg and i am not ready to deal with this but they just wont listen . Everyday when i get to know more about people around, I feel more and more lucky! Both my parents are from UP and they had an arranged marriage. But they always say to me, "marriage is a choice, not a compulsion to live a happy life". And being a girl, such support from parents means a lot! Papa to roz bas ias banne ki motivation dete hain aur mumma bolti hain shadi tabhi karna jab koi bohooot achha mile ya fir mat karna😂 And this is so rare in our society! We don't have to be against marriage at all, we just have to realise that not everybody wants it, and thats alright!

Love marriage will help both the boy and girl because they have known each other and are comfortable with each other they are already in love with each and know each others personality. They can be in a relation for a long time before marriage. In arranged marriage they will have to know each other first and then learn to love each other. They won't get enough time before marriage to know each other completely because you may not have spent time with each other that much. But if you can learn to love your partner a then arrange marriage is not that bad too but sometimes you may not end up with the right person so you'll have to take that risk.

So, now parents & children are open minded & progressive. The cons of Arranged marriage is that you have many options, talk to/meet many people & it takes time. The Pro is that, you agree to it when you are ready; date with the permission of your parents; you can clarify anything/everything in your mind & as you proceed & meet more n more persons, you actually learn more about yourself & what exactly you want - infact your checklist also changes (or atleast the weightage of the existing points increases/decreases). Arranged marriage, is a very crisp & scientific way of getting married ! Arranged marriage is good, not regressive as it's portrayed, as it's a good combination of our personal choice + parents experience. At the end of the day, love or arranged - these are just 2 paths - what is important that the marriage should be happy ! 💐

1. If your parents permit dating, then you could just date normally, no need to call it arranged marriage dating. 2. You said Arranged marriages are scientific. Nice way to say "Calculative". They happen based on inherited wealth and job, I don't see what's crispy about it. 3.Trying to figure out who are. It is a very important step of life that doesn't need list full of people your parents choose based on their financial status. We can, like most people in the world, explore ourself without involving in a privileged so called arranged marriage dating. Arranged marriages are regressive, effecting millions every month. Don't reduce it to "portrayal". It is what it is, Regressive. The more choice you have, the less of an arranged marriage it is.

Has anyone ever heard of introduced marriage? In other cultures a boy and a girl are usually introduced through friends , colleagues etc and in India , they are introduced by family , extended family or distant relatives. So what’s wrong with it . This kind of marriage with a long courtship period, should never be called arranged marriage. It is introduced marriage not an arranged marriage of past century.

Mai 16 saal ke umar se hi love marriage karne ki khoshish kar raha hun. Aaj mai 37 years ka hogaya hun. Khaafi baar love hua mujhe iss beech. Par saari ladkiyan breakup karke chale gaye yeh kehte hue ki I deserve someone better. Aaj tak nahi mili woh better ladki. Arranged marriage mujhe pasand nahin. Isiliye abhi shaadi hi nahi karne ka faisla liya hai maine. Shaadi karni thi 20s mai jab mai jawan tha. Biwi ke saat duniya ghoomne ka shauk jab rakhta tha. Aur jo bhi mere parents ke mehnat ke kamaaye hue paise hein woh meri biwi ko divorce settlement mai dene keliye nahi rakkha hai. 😁

She will become like a caged bird, her in laws or husband will decide what to let her wear, earn, where she can roam , etc. There is no trust in forced marriages.So in Fact marriage should be auspicious alliance between two individuals when they are willing to marry by wish not forcefully.
