Band's name is General Public. Mick Jones initially was in the band and did play on several tracks on first album (and others down the road as a guest) but was not on this show. Mick had left to form Big Audio Dynamite

Mick Jones played at least one live show as a band member when they were getting the first album together. There's a photo floating around the internet if you look for it. After the recording process concluded, he stepped away and Kevin White joined in his place.

I thought their name was “the general republic of the english beat” i guess “general republic” is for short??
