Dick Grob --- Hearing from his interview in '''Denmark, he was a person that is very intellectual, good sense of discipline and vision...he was very professional yet warm, he valued moral constructivity and productivity that someone needs to shower to all, without divisiveness of conduct....he was destined to be one among the few who will define the good in Elvis, he deserve an endless salutation and remembrance.
Another great video. Thanks! I got to meet Dick Grob several years ago. Very nice man. I asked him about the filming of "That's The Way It Is". When filming the concerts at the International Hotel, during "Love Me Tender" Elvis jumps off the stage and walked thru the audience, and pandemonium ensues. I asked Dick if Elvis told them ahead of time that he was going to do that. Dick said "Elvis never told us anything he was going to do while on stage, that's why we had to be on our toes and watch him at all times."
Great interview. Just found out that he passed away a few months ago. How sad. Not many left of the Memphis Mafia. Reminds you how precious life and each day is. RIP Dick Grob.
Hello from England Dick passed away last April 2020. Not many left that knew or "worked with Elvis". We must feel blessed that we have these videos that we can watch for many years to come We cry still over Elvis 44 years on Thank you so much Spa Guy
I have been a fan since 2nd grade in 1978 and I learned about him and over the years I have grown to have a great apreciation for ELVIS as for as the music goes !
Love all you do! Just found you today and have been binge watching! My high school best friend and I met the day Elvis died and were talking about that day and how we bonded. I was 16 she was 17.
Spa Guy, I love how you are tracking down all the people who played an important role in Elvis and gathering their history onto video. Your videos are well detailed.
And SO MANY have passed away recently. Good to see Dick still ALIVE and .... #SMOKING ..... lol! #WPRPN #MINDS #ELVIS www.minds.com/groups/profile/470566772454465536 www.minds.com/register;referrer=PirateRadioNetwork www.podomatic.com/podcasts/space-pirate-radio/episodes/2017-08-27T03_19_42-07_00
Spa Guy, thank you for all the videos on Elvis and things pertaining to him. I found a few things while in Memphis EW 2017 that I wasn't aware of. So interesting!! Amazed with the details. Thanks again. 🎤
I love Dick Grob! I saw an extended interview with him and it was very inciteful! Billy if you want to see the interview with Dick you can find it on an app called Ostiysk tv it's called A Talk About Elvis. He talks about Elvis always putting his security through their paces and slipping off by himself. They would panic and go out looking for him!
I take it leasing options weren’t around then. “18 cars for the 15 he turned in”. Love the cover of this book . Btw , why don’t any of these guys offer the books on kdp (dot) com . You have the option to upload a pdf and you can sell your book ebook style or physical copy on amazon . Just a suggestion , I saw a recent interview you did that required emailing the person . Maybe a easier platform would be kdp. Plus it’s print by order or a small fee to store at amazon .
This is Amazing!!! Dick should do Consulting with the Current group of Artists getting in fights with fans !!! Elvis' was a class act , cared for his audience!!! I cant stress what a class act the whole Elvis On Tour Folks were !!!
I am currently reading this book, loved that Mr. Grob provided great detail and support on all his histories. His writing, shows how much the respect he had toward Elvis. I highly recommend this book to anybody that enjoy to learn about Elvis, the human being.
Mr. Spa Guy! Great piece of Elvis history with Mr. Grob. I just think it is so nice of Mr. Grob to say he has nothing bad to say about Elvis! I find it incredible that everyone says nothing but good things about Elvis! Just very, very nice! And the speaking about the funeral, very sad but ...... Thank You again for tightening us up!!!
You can hear the bugs that you only hear in hot, humid climates...cicadas....that sound reminds me of my grandmother's house in Houston.....Great interview, too!!
Great video. I bumped into Dick at Elvis week in Great Yarmouth UK in September at which he was a special guest and just like in this video he had a coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other and so it will always remind me of a nice 10 minute chat I had with him with no one else around and this video takes me straight back there. Thanks Spa guy 👍👍
Unlike other guys who jumped in and out, or just joined the tours, Dick was one of the few guys being around Elvis the entire 70’s. Great story teller, RIP
how did you not know that was Dick Grob? :) haha i thought you were kidding when you were walking by. he's a great guy. i met him at marlowe's at the book sale where he signed his book.
Just stumbled upon these videos over the past week , and I’m hooked . Great work . And a massive thanks for taking the time to do all this for us . Amazing
How exciting to actually get to talk to an inside source. Straight from his mouth! Sure would be nice if he had more time to keep chatting. I'll have to get one of those books. Thanks again for your fabulous work 💜
Wow! Imagine that, walking past a man having a smoke, complimenting his necklace, and he volunteers that it’s the real thing! Then to find out the man is Dick Grob, head of security for Elvis! Hot dog, Billy!
G’day Spa Guy, thanks again for this fantastic interview with Dick. It’s always very fascinating listening to all the stories from people that new or who were associated with Elvis🕺. It’s also awesome that some of these people like Dick publish a book sharing the personal times and stories they had with the King. Cheers from Perth, Australia 🇦🇺 Craig
Billy, you just happened upon Elvis Presley's head of security Dick Grob and bag an interview with him. I've noticed that Elvis Presley's employees were more his friends than vice versa and very approachable. I just read that Dick Grob died a couple of months ago. God is calling Elvis Presley's friends home. As for yourself, Billy, you captured a man that was part of rock and roll history and in doing so you yourself are now part of it too. Thank you, Billy.
Dick is one of the few we rarely hear from. Only other time I've heard him in an interview was on the E True Hollywood Story "The Last Days of Elvis" in 1999
Hi Billy, Thank you for sharing this, great interview with Mr Grob, Saddened that he passed away, He will greatly be missed in the Elvis world! Your friend Bonnie
This is amazing! Great job, Spa Guy. We are losing too many of these guys who were at Elvis' side and experienced it all. Thanks again Spy guy. Really enjoy and appreciated what you do..
Enjoyed watching this again and so sad to hear about Dick passing away. So glad you got to interview him while he was with us. We are losing most of the people that were closest to Elvis. That's why what you're doing is so important and appreciated. Once these people are gone, all the history is gone and well. So glad you have been able to uncover a lot of it for us thru all these great interviews!!
I think it was the early 90's. Maybe late 80's. A lifelong friend of my uncle's. He was asked to clean an old barn out. A "big" old barn. This barn was packed to the gills with stuff. As he was pulling stuff out of the barn he uncovered a Harley Davidson and a Cadillac. Both the Harley and Cadillac had engraved plaks saying, To: ( a females name ) with love from Elvis Presley. That may have not been the exact inscription word for word but, it was a long those lines. I was about 15 when I heard about this (1995). I remember asking the guy if Elvis was dating that woman. I cant remember what his answer was but, it seems like he said somthing along the lines of, Elvis was interested in her or he said, he thinks they were just gifts to say thank you to the lady. I cant remember exactly what je said too me. I do remember, the guy showing me pictures of the Harley and the Cadillac. The pictures looked like they were taken just after the Cadillac and Harley were pulled out of the barn. Another picture was a up close shot of the plaks. If anyone is interested in researching this to try finding out the back story, here is what little info I have. The town this occurred in was; Kouts, Indiana. The county was; Porter county. Late 1980's or early 90's. I seem to remember him showing me a news paper that covered the story at the time. Also, I think it was on the front page. I can picture the news paper with the article in my memory. Funny thing is, Im not sure if I remember seeing it because he showed me the paper or because he told me about it and I pictured it in my mind. I apologize for the foggy memory. Its been about 30 years. It sure would be cool to find out what really went on there. Who the girl was that Elvis gave those gifts too and why. I have wondered about that for mamy years. If there is anything else I can help with just ask.
Another top quality post. Well done. I met Dick Grob in Beale Street one night in about 2004. What a really nice guy he is. Wouldn't want to mess with him though.
Always love watching your video has been the Graceland several times first time I was there was a 1995 anyways this is a great video but the volume is not so good even though it was unplanned and it was good that you got to meet this guy anyway what's the volume was a little bit better take care of your aunt friend from Ohio
I purchased an Elvis owned book(The omen). It was Given and personalized to a friend of Dick grobs (mike). I bought it cause my name is mike 🤣. I found it for sale a week after I came back from my first and only visit to Graceland in 06. I wish I knew who the Mike was that it was signed to🤔. Sorry I rambled on. Great video as always😁
Spa Guy , Although I was a life long friend of J.D.Sumner and all of the Stamps Quartet , I only met Elvis once , If people know what a '' Meet and Greet '' is , It's barley enough time to say your name and introduce yourself, Maybe get an autograph . Thank You for documenting all of these people that were important to Elvis and the show, Yet you would not know of them unless you where looking ! What you do is SO important !
This Guy Loved Elvis so i know why he did not g to Sonny or red's Funeral but he is too nice to say it :). This alone tells me how much of a Friend he was to Elvis.
just ran into this video, thanks for sharing it, i just seen not long ago that Dick died earlier this year...so glad you got the chance to talk to him...
Grob was NOT his head of security from 1967 on.....he met him in 1967, and did not start working security for Elvis until after Elvis started touring again. I don't know when for sure he was head of security....but i know it wasn't in 1967
I remember watching this when you first put it up. Dick, sadly is now also gone. Man, they're getting fewer and fewer! It's bound to happen as people get older, but damn man. Pretty soon, there won't be anybody left from Elvis' inner circle who truly knew him. Thank you for doing these videos Billy. For people like me who can't make it to Memphis regularly and meet all these people, these videos are good documentation. I always look forward to your videos Billy! Keep tightening up!
Billy you do great things. You are so respectful and have a lot of class. As a huge fan of Elvis 🕺 I thank you for these videos. These interviews are great. God bless Titan Up!
Spa Guy just to Educate you. I heard you talking about a Podium. You were looking for it. The only place I have ever seen a Podium is in a Beer Joint or a Park. It s the Platform where a person Stands on NOT behind. The Item a person stands behind is called a Lecturn unless its in a Church, then its called a Pulpit. Research it in the Dictionary, a Podium is an Elevated Platform
Don, The word I use is correct.. You stand on a platform not behind it.. Anyway you are wasting my time with such petty arguments if that's all you got kindly go away..
Hi. Lov ur vids. But are u aware of all the noise in this video background? Can u give him a mic maybe interview him again? Very hard to hear, frustrating. Ur awesome spa guy
These videos are done on the fly and the spontenaity is part of the magic.. If I walked around with a mic in my hand it would not be the same so it is what it is.. When I am in a room full of people or outside and there is background noise it is what it was really like.. If I had a production crew and the sound was perfect the content would not be as good.. I think keeping it simple and having people just speak is the right formula instead of perfect rehearsed things.. A mic in hand would change their answers and make it less real...
i learn so much about ELVIS from the SPA GUY :) i got to see ELVIS with my parents in marrch or april of 1977 here in alexandria louisiana & i was 10 yrs old & its central louisiana & he had 2 shows & we lived on air force base & my nana brought me to flight line where his plane was & 6 to 8 guys were all over ELVIS as if he was the president with secret service & ELVIS was wearing looked to be sweat pants and a jacket,,,he was dressed likje he was comfortable & the base police wass there too...he was here for 3 days & he played 1st show than next nite he was off then the 3rd nite he played again & he sold out both shows....ELVIS & country group alabama are the only 2 artist to sell out the rapides parish coliseum....alabama played one nite ELVIS played 2 nites so ELVIS Wins...ELVIS to this day in 2020 is still the only man to sell out 2 nites in alexandria...me & parents went to 2nd show & the whole nite ELVIS joked around alot & made us all laugh & he didnt miss a note...he sang so excellent...his personality was so great & likable,,,,,SPA GUY iam a big ELVIS fan so thanks for all of your videos...love u for all your videos and ur love for ELVIS bcuz i also love ELVIS...there was a girl in my class at the elementary school that got a scarf from ELVIS & her name was tina...she let me hold the scarf...some people said the base commander gave ELVIS & crew a house on base to stay in while they were here and some say he slept on his plane & other people say he stayed in motel in town but nobody to this day knew where ELVIS & crew stayed for those 3 days....my guess is he stayed on base in a secret safe house....SPA GUY thank u for your videos & i learn so much from u englanfd air force base closed in 1992 & is now a senior citizen community but thats where ELVIS plan landed

Thats tru Billy. I understand where your coming from. I love all your videos and am a huge fan. Your very polite and kind. Its a rare find. 😀 Wondering what your thoughts are on all those stories bout his faking his death? It certainly makes for good fiction. I loved the vid of the man who has the hospital paddles used. U did a super great job n i felt my heart break for him. Did u ever consider a follow up video on him.? God bless u
Billy this is one of my favorite videos from you the way you just walked up and there he was right there, great interview learned a lot from this one, keep Em coming my friend
