Dickey Betts Jazzy Lines - Southern Rock ii-Vs!? Allman Brothers Jazz | Jazz/Rock Guitar Lesson

Dickey Betts(as well as every guitar player who has ever played in the Allman Brothers) has always been one of my favorite guitarists, and has had a huge impact on my playing over the years. In this lesson I take a look at one of his jazzier lines from Hot Lanta, and take a look at how we can apply it to some ii-V progressions! I hope you enjoy!

I think it’s important to have your playing reflect who you are, and for me, I am a fan of a lot of styles!

Great lesson. Give praise for Dickey Betts and then evolve what he did to a standard jazz turnaround. Count me impressed and count me appreciative as I ❤️ the allman brothers.

I think he hit the outside notes by just playing the same fingering. Mostly Dorian, not exactly jazzy. Sorry.

That’s exactly how he did it. It’s just another tool that can be used to add something extra to your playing.
