Damn… This video just hit me hard. Your story is so similar to mine, the addictions, the personality traits, the anxiety/depression. 10 months off now and I truly felt like I was making great progress but the past few days have been brutal both physically and mentally. I guess this is what they call a wave and I hope it passes soon. You give me hope and I strive to one day emerge from this a better and strong person regardless of how badly damaged I feel right now. Thank you Dan.
@philosophicalfishing
@philosophicalfishing Год назад
You’re still making progress even in a wave- maybe especially in a wave. Please give your nervous system time to recover and limit your exposure to stimuli as much as possible while in a wave. Ride it out as much as it sucks. It will pass and you’ll continue to heal.

Thank you all, when I get knocked back a few steps I begin to lose a lot of hope. And then I get mad at myself for losing that hope. It becomes a vicious cycle. But seeing that healing is possible helps boost that hope during times like these. I need to learn to be patient with myself. As an addict I never had patience, perhaps this is what this is trying to teach me.

I just came across your channel and I'm listening to a second video of yours and this is one of the best channels on this subject (Benzo's). I was put on Klonipin in 1994. Unfortunately, 30 years later, I'm on 6mg's of Xanax a day. I've tried coming off or have been in the hospital and they weren't giving me any of my medicine, so I was forced into the most terrifying experience of my life. I was having hallucinations, both audio and visual and severe paranoia. Jerking and twitching uncontrollably. I'm too frightened to try going off of these. I'm certain I have nerve damage and probably brain damage. You are very brave to have went through this. Thank you for taking time to make these videos. God bless you.

@@philosophicalfishing , Thank you very much. I've been really wanting to ask my doctor to switch me to 8 mgs of Klonipin. That was what I was on when they switched me over to Xanax. I'm having interdose withdrawal symptoms daily. I figured the Klonipin lasts so much longer, it might be better. I'm so afraid to bring up any issues to my doctor for fear of him cutting me off. That would be horrific! You are a true Warrior! Thank you.

The benzos provided that thick shell for me that allowed me to not feel anything emotionally. This is what I liked about benzos and why they were so addictive to me. Emotional abuse is very cruel because you can't see the wounds unless I crack open my skull and show you. I also am still too emotional, and I am learning to manage this better. Something I have noticed since I have started waking up is the people that were around me. Most of them I would never hang out with clean and healed from benzos. If people are energy suckers etc. then I have no time for them anymore. I am getting stronger and stronger every day. I used benzos I believe to save my spirit because on benzos no words no nothing could ever affect me, but the consequence was it changed my personality. The good thing my personality is still there and is coming back the more time I get under my belt away from benzos/drugs. Thank you, Dan, for sharing you story, and it is inspiring as always!!!

In my mind I did this to make me stronger while I am still healing. I want to face my traumas look at them and realize that I am strong, and nothing will ever break me again in life. It has been one heck of a wild ride Donna and I feel like you can relate as well. I think we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. Consider yourself lucky, Most folks who stay on benzodiazepines ends up injuring their nervous system which is why there's 3 black box warnings with the latest published Sept 23/2020,Benzodiazepines weren't created to be used longer then 2-4 weeks and even that's too long. It's just really sad seeing how many people claim they need their benzo but what most don't realize is that eventually your nervous system will crash, I had 212 symptoms that I still can't explain from Musculatory, neurological, visual to perception based, sensory to movement issues, I was stuck in a wheel chair because I couldn't move my legs for 3 years, it took me 8 years to fully recover but I have more sensitivities now and no... This is happening to just people who abuse the benzo as most get hurt if you use longer then a month both as prescribed and as needed which as needed is way worse because you can develop a nasty neurological complication called "Benzo kindling"

Great job 👏 Benzodiazepines are helpful for anxiety disorders. It’s important to get rid off anxiety. However I’m on it also and not ready to give them up yet. Although I’m doing meditation 🧘‍♀️ and stuff I’m having insomnia and anxiety so it helps. It doesn’t affect me in any negative way and on myself socially mold I don’t care about society mold and I also express myself. I’m very spiritual to being with and just want to be myself and not have anxieties, or insomnia.

I have random convulsions that stop me from sleeping maybe once every month or so, but when they get bad the only thing thatll calm the nerves is alcohol. And im trying to abstain from drinking so i asked for Klonopin and they work literally every time. After 15 specialists, three primary care visits, and three trips to the ER, I finally learned from two women in a fg group what was actually going on with me. I about lost the job I spent my life working towards. I am still wearing a mask out (as is my husband) a year later, because I don't want to get sick or take any meds that could cause a setback.
