We love to see new characters in Yellowstone. If they are also young and adorable, then there is nothing we like more. However, when they show up in a completely transformed appearance in the next season, then we can't help but be baffled. This is exactly what happened with Yellowstone's beloved Carter. He is awesome!! Rip and Beth are really “giving him an education”. I felt so bad for him when Beth walked thru the barn and he said “Mornin’, momma” and she replied with “Hi, baby” and then jumped all over him telling him that she is NOT his momma! 😢 He had such big tears in those beautiful brown eyes!

Beth and Rip treated the kid like crap in season 4. Hope that changes in season 5. Haven’t seen it yet but for the two of them to talk to that kid like he’s shit is poor writing in my opinion. Especially with Rips history

@@nobodyspecial6513I just made a similar comment further up. I thought Rip was unbelievably cruel to Carter. He didn't have to be so mean to a kid with nothing. You can teach lessons without being a total dick. And, Rip got his start on the ranch from John when he had nowhere to go. It bothered me that Beth didn't step in. She's such a bitch to others, she couldn't have said something to Rip to support this kid? Plus, isn't it to be expected that Carter would make mistakes considering his parenting or lack thereof?

I too thought that. I just watched the season 5 part 1. In the special features they talked about him a little more. My husband and I said he's the same actor? Wow.

🤨 💭 Hmmm, that wasn’t a serious growth spurt during 9 months period. Remember the Indian girl announced she was pregnant at the end of season 4; then got into a car accident in season 5E1. Therefore, it is within 9months…

I love Carter. It broke my heart when he first appeared in Yellowstone what his character was out through. I was so happy to see that he was finally accepted into the dutton family. He's a good actor!

They are both broken mentally! In time they will soften towards Carter. Like all parents kids soften you up a little. They are new to the game of parenting. Give them time and carter will be what gives them new meaning and they will realize they need to straighten up a little. Just another layer of excellence in storytelling.

I LIVE THIS KID!!! He reminds me of my 15 year old son so much!!! His bio father is a drug addict n is currently in prison for the 4th time... This kid melted my heart and my son relates to him in a lot of different ways cuz of the hardships he's had to endure... Thanks to this kid my son doesn't feel so alone and knows there r others out there who r dealing with the same crap! So yes, he is my favorite character on the show and am so happy they never changed him!!!

As a mother the character of Carter had me crying. His journey is so sorrowful but my heart warms at what a beautiful difference the love and support of the Duttons makes in his life. He has blossomed and his life has forever changed. Who knows what will happen when a person desperate for deliverance and a second chance is granted that. Some Duttons are born, some are made!

Carter was the key to Beth's character showing she has a heart and lives kids and brings out the soft side of Beth's character and also brings out the soft side of rip. Having a chick in their lives on the show is what they need and needed

We needed Carter as everything Tate should have been if Monica would just let go of the leash. Carter is tough, fearless, in love with the ranch and the family. His relationship with John is wonderful and if I had my way it would be Carter eventually inheriting the ranch through Beth.
