Hey, David thanks so much for these industry insights. I completely self study for CCNA...I don't have access to any university lecturers to know what's going on in the real world. So the only way I get exposed to real word is from your videos. Hope to see more like this.

Don't waste your time, if you have a basic understanding of networking which you do I assume put effort into fortinet or other brands. Cheaper gear almost no licenses and MUCH easier to use and configure

Hope they fix their firewalls. In my city there is a company that focuses solely on ASA to Fortigate migrations, and they've had so many contracts it's crazy.
@SApcGUY
@SApcGUY Год назад
Their code has improved a lot in the last 2 years, with capabilities palo alto and fortigates dont have. hell you cant even do a tcp ping on a palo firewall and we could do that 15 yrs ago on an ASA.
@balla2172
@balla2172 Год назад
That's because people are sick of the un realistic fees they charge. It's amazing how much Market share cisco has lost over last 5 years. All schools but 1 in my aea have migrated away from Cisco to fortinet or aruba. Previous wr had hospital that needed to pay 225k for Cisco firmware upgrades on firewall. Instead we ripped all Cisco out from firewall to ap and transitioned to another brand
@rakeshcristobal8320
@rakeshcristobal8320 Год назад
@@balla2172 I can totally relate haha. I've heard that Fortinet have even created a tool to assist you in migrating all your firewall configurations to the FortiGate (from the ASA or others). FortiConverter it's called, if I'm not mistaken.

Well, lets be honest. Cisco's firewalls sucks - from hardware, through licensing to firmware. You can compare them to Forti or Palo and it is day and night. From my experience it is much, much easier to troubleshoot those vendors than Cisco and yes, it is mostly because UI and CLI on Cisco's firewalls is just extremely bad.

That first half sound hopeful, but lets be honest Cisco has a very long history of absolutely terrible UX design. Ciscoworks, ASA ASDM, ACS, etc... even DNA and ISE are both 'death by menus'. So high hopes for this but I won't count my eggs until they are hatched. And along the same lines Cisco is going to have to blow some minds before I even consider giving up my Palo Alto gear. I'm already happy, so they have to find a way to make me happier.
