Is it true that there are 95 islands programmed into the game? I thought only 4 or 8 were available as shown in the Nooklings' intro at the start of the game. And how likely some of us started with the same island?

The game should be aware of what DIY recipes you don't have and drip feed them at a pace that's not frustrating but keeps you playing the game for a good amount of time

It’s better to not to have the game to be aware of what DIY Recipes that we don’t have. Cuz it is up to us the players to keep track of our own DIY Recipes. Cuz if there’s a DIY Recipe that we don’t have and we want it or need it , then it is up to us the players to get it. Even if we have to be patient for it. Cuz it’s better to not be so frustrated at the game for not being so fast like how y’all are. Just be patient with the game itself and it’ll pay off in the end.

If you want your Golden Tools not to break , just don’t ever use them cuz that way they all won’t ever break. For every DIY that washes up on the shore if it is a duplicate of the ones that you already have , then you can just save them for other players. But if you just wanted newer DIY’s just keep on logging into this game , just until when you discover a newer DIY.

Fishing bait. OMG. The fishing bait. I literally bought a third party controller with a turbo button JUST to be able to set it and forget it (for like, 10 mins) and "bulk craft" fishing bait. Granted, it's come in handy for other things since then... But it was the fishing bait that prompted the buy. Lol. 🔧🛠

Something I wish they implemented is treating fish bait like medicine - with medicine, you can buy it, craft it, as well as obtain it from villagers (both the recipe and the item itself). If fish bait worked the same way, I wouldn’t find it so annoying but the fact that the only way to get it is crafting is super annoying (obviously excluding treasure islands or trading with other players, which requires an online membership).

New Horizons is my first AC game, and I just bought it recently, so I’m very much a rookie. In addition to bulk crafting, I wish that if we were crafting in our house, we wouldn’t need to pull the resources from our storage to our pockets, craft, then put the excess back in storage. If in-house crafting could pull its resources directly from storage, that would be a big time saver imo.

Imagine the next animal crossing game based on a port city like New York City, Venice, Bruges, Antwerp etc. You and your villagers can live on docked boats and the town has more piers than in New Leaf or New Horizons. Every day there can be a new visitor at the dock in their own small boat (just like they are doing now at the plaza). I thought about this idea because it makes more sense when moving your house/boat (rn you can move your house and whole interior in just ONE day, kinda unrealistic), with this feature it's more believable that you can move an entire boat to a new place. It also gives the opportunity to make a new sort of room: the deck, which can serve as a sort of balcony. It would also be cool if you want to visit another town you can just sail away with your boat and dock at their pier meaning you can bring your entire house to their town. And hey, maybe Gulliver will FINALLY not strand anymore. Sure this concept needs to be more worked out, but I like the idea :-)

I agree with you on EVERYTHING! I hope they also fix the shop when you want clothes of the same kind just different colors , running in and out of the dressing booth is kinda annoying . Changing up some items also can be annoying to run to harvs Island when you are just wanting a new color . I wish more options were available on island items like street lamps , I only have green and have to run to Harvs island pay to have the color changed , so I hope they rethink some things like also wouldnt it be nice to go to residents services and make a villiger move or have something on the map that we can check mark to have a villiger permanent that way they wont ask to leave , love the game though 😊 you make great points

Since that you said that you don’t like it when they break , then maybe you can just rely on another player who really can help you. Yeah I know what I’m saying is about if we the players get to HIRE ANOTHER PLAYER TO HELP. Then maybe in the next AC Game that really should be a thing to help other players , but that’s if they already are playing online.

The only negative with the crafting for me is not being able to craft in bulk. I don’t mind the tools breaking since breaking tools and crafting have achievements tied to them. I’d agree more if there wasn’t payoff for it.
@Designer239
@Designer239 9 дней назад
Just don’t be so negative about not being able to craft in Bulk , cuz um if you just take 1 Recipe of the DIY’s and just get the stuff what that recipe calls for , then just double or triple that recipe as many times as you like that’s if you happen to have the same stuff that recipe calls for. Then you’ll be bulk crafting in no time. But just don’t be so negative about it for so much and take as many breaths to cooldown , then just start bulk crafting and you’ll see that you really can do it.

I think the tool breaking feature would have been fun if it was used as a punishment if you used the tool incorrectly too often. But that would require letting us use the tools incorrectly to see how many ways we could break it. Lol. And I would have loved cooking more if we could give our villagers their favorite dishes to increase our friendship with them, kind of like harvest moon.

If you don’t wanna break the Golden Tools , then just don’t ever use them at all then they won’t break. But if you want Bulk Crafting then just pick something that you really want ever so badly , then just get the stuff from what that Recipe calls for. And just make it as many times from the materials that you already gathered , cuz that’s how to Bulk Craft just by picking a recipe and gathering the materials , from what that recipe calls for and double or triple that one recipe depending on how much that you’ve gathered. Cuz it’s all about being very strategic and having some leftover , so that way you can redo that again. Cuz that’s about being very passionate about the DIY’s.

I've heard some not so great things about Hello Fresh. I like crafting in Animal Crossing. I wouldn't mind it staying but only if they add some improvements to it. The golden tools should really be unbreakable for how much work goes into getting them. A durability indicator would also be useful. Have the tools start to show wear as they get closer to breaking. The axes in New Leaf did so it's not like it'd be impossible. I do really like crafting hot items to sell. Making money off of selling furniture I built myself just kinda feels good. I like to think Nook's Cranny takes the crafted furniture I sell them and ships it off to the mainland to be sold in stores or something. I also really hope cooking stays and gets improved upon. Give villagers favorite foods that boost their friendship by a ton when you give it to them. Have them be able to ask you to cook them something. When they're sick, let us be able to make them soup to help them get better even faster. You could even add some kind of minigame similar to serving coffee in New Leaf where a villager describes a dish and you have to guess the correct one and make it for them. Maybe make it more interactive and if you screw up you can end up burning the food.

I wonder how long it will be before we hear about a new Animal Crossing? Hopefully within the first three years of Switch 2, that would be nice. Something I would like to address about ways Animal Crossing could be improved that you didn't really talk about - doing away with the grid based decorating and plot placing. I think grid snapping should certainly be an option, but they need to move to allowing free placement of all decorations and houses. There needs to be more leeway when placing things close together. I also think villagers would need some more advanced AI to successfully path through areas that are densely decorated. On the topic of villagers: I've picked up the original Animal Crossing as well as Wild World to play in tandem to get a feel for what it was about the old games that I was really missing from New Horizons (and to an extent, New Leaf as well) I think they need to seriously overhaul the way villagers talk to and interact with you and the world around them. We need multi-faceted personality types. Such as: a villager with a primary personality that dictates the bulk of the way they speak to the player with two accessory personality traits to vary up the kind of dialogue pools the villager can pull from. Each villager should also get "personalized" as they spend more time living in your town. Interactions they have and items they receive can shape their interests which changes some dialogue and behavior patterns when they go about their day to day. It sure would make each villager feel special instead of like sparkly cardboard cutouts where the main difference is the texture on their model. I also think the villagers SERIOUSLY need to be able to remember intricate details about past interactions with you and other villagers. Nothing breaks the immersion like having a villager mention a piece of furniture in their house that I gave them talking about how/when/why they bought it. I want them to be able to remember when I gave them gifts or when they hung out with other villagers around the town and talk about those things so it feels more like they're actually living their life in the village. They need to be able to notice when my house interior is changing and make comments on the decorating choices I made rather than mindlessly mentioning random items for no particular reason. I want them to develop daily routines that are distinct based on their primary and secondary personality types so I can predictably find them at certain places at certain times based on the kinds of things they like - the dialogue needs to be made part of the environment and fabric of the game so the villager's lives shape their speech and behaviour. Also, for goodness sake, they need to drop the "every villager is a shining ray of happy sunshine 98% of the time" thing. The villagers in New Horizons are SO. BORING. I think going full GameCube with it is too far - those villagers are seriously mean sometimes - but they need to add a bit of tooth to the dialogue in the future. It sure is boring of a game experience to talk to a bunch of perfect squeaky clean villagers who respond with how their lunch was delicious that day or how blue the sky is. Snore! There was so many more unexpected dialogue encounters in old games that makes you actually want to interact with your villagers.

I just carry a supply of customization kits, and change the color of all my tools first thing every day. Customizing a tool resets its "breakage meter" back to zero, so it's like having a brand-new, never-used tool. I haven't had to craft a new tool in months. Now, yes, it's still tedious and annoying to have to do that, and I wish that there was at least an unbreakable version of each tool available. I'm not arguing that this solves the whole problem and is good, actually. But it's still better than having to run off to craft a new tool or keep your pockets stuffed with spare tools for when they break.

I have a couple of opinions. Keep in mind, I purely mean opinions because I know everyone is different, everyone finds different things frustrated, finds different things fun and etc. etc. I'm so sorry this comment ended up being sooooo long but I had a lot to say apparently I'll start, though, with what I agree with: - Bulk crafting/bulk anything. I definitely find it super duper frustrating and annoying to bulk craft things. This mostly happens to me with making fencing. I am at least glad that 1 crafted fence seems to = 10 units. However, when you need a TON of fencing, it can get very tedious. I also find bulk purchasing quite annoying because every single purchase from, for example Nook's Cranny or Leif has its little menu about whether you want to buy a single or bulk. Bulk purchasing is limited to 5. I am a huuuuge hoarder of flower bags/bush starts/produce starts. I like to keep a LOT on hand just in case Like at least 50 or so of them. However, to buy even 50, that means going through that little purchase menu 10 different times already. I do wish that bulk crafting or bulk purchasing was better. - DIY rarity. I do actually find this quite frustrating as well. I actually had to go through a person I met on the Nookazon discord server in order to FINALLY get the blue rose wreath/blue rose flower crown DIY. However, these aren't the only DIYs I'm missing. There's also just some random DIYs I'm missing and don't have, especially cooking recipes. I haven't been playing as long, but I've been playing for around 2 years. I actually farmed out Celeste's DIYs early by just... using listings on Nookazon for Celeste visits. I farmed out *most* seasonal DIY by using time travel (Ik, I'm a cheater) and to that extent, using it to get all the bottles off the beach everyday and the bottles at HHP island or Kapp'n islands. And yet, a vast majority of the time at this point, it's DIYs I already know. There comes a certain point with DIYs that you already have learned a majority of them or at least over half, and now it's once in a blue moon that you find a DIY you actually didn't learn yet. - Crafting speed/animation. Yes, this is honestly just a little annoying/tedious. I get that this game is meant to be a little tedious but when you have to craft things one by one... it's almost insufferable. I actually end up watching RU-vid videos while I'm bulk crafting to pass the time easier bc well, I'm mostly just mashing the same buttons. I don't need to pay close attention for that. Now I'll talk about some of my more differing opinions: - Crafting tools. I'll give it a fair point about crafting tools, and my answer to that is that I simply do not do that. I buy all of my tools in bulk from Nook's Cranny and take another visit there once I get down to like 3 extra tools per each kind of tool and buy some more. The only golden tools I have suffered to make repeatedly are the golden watering can and the golden slingshot. Obviously, I want the watering can to make golden roses. I continue to make golden slingshots because I don't use the slingshot all that often so that extra durability is kind of worth it to me. The rest of the golden tools aren't as worthwhile to me because I use them very very often and just a bit of extra durability isn't really worth it when I can use my gold for other purposes like making other DIYs or just hoarding my huge stacks of gold like a dragon hoarding its treasures. - Tools Breaking. This is the one that actually doesn't annoy me all that much... except for the golden tools. I do think if you're using a more rare material like gold, it should be near indestructible at least. However, back to the original point, I don't personally find it all that annoying when it comes to the regular tools. I can see how it could be frustrating to others to stop what you're doing and potentially run off to get other tools and I have experienced this myself in earlier times. However, I've developed my own way to make it as painless as possible for me. I always carry my wooden shed on me. If I'm focusing on one certain activity like fishing/catching bugs/chopping down trees/planting then I'll actually put two tools of whatever activity I'm currently focused on. That way, when the one I'm using breaks, I can just pull out the extra and continue on. Either way, there are times I will have to stop naturally due to full inventory or I want to take a small break from what I'm doing. During those times, naturally I take out my storage shed to put stuff away, so I'll just grab another spare tool during that time. It's relatively painless for me and only sacrifices 3 inventory slots. I also tend to carry 2 tools of any kind I intend to use on mystery islands or Kapp'n islands bc I'm sure we've all been there where our tool breaks and we either give up the rest of the materials there or suck it up and buy flimsy tools with our nook miles. - Gathering resources from islands. This is definitely a thing that is a personal preference but I actually don't find the grind all that boring/tedious. However, and this is a big however, I am *used* to playing games that require lots of tedious mechanics. Just to name a few examples, I've played FF14 where you have to grind out levels for your combat class sometimes that could be considered tedious. I am an avid player of the gacha games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Those games definitely lay on the tediousness of grinding out content in order to slowly build up currency that goes towards those gachas. I also played Disney Dreamlight Valley for no small amount of time and some of those quests for crafting were horrid with tediousness. So when it comes to farming out materials and going to islands, I actually don't find it all that boring and I find it quite relaxing. Especially if I put on some music or a podcast, I could go at it for hours. These are the things that actually do annoy me quite a bit: - All the menus and repeated dialogue. I actually really hate how much repeated dialogue and menus there are in the game and it can really slow you down depending on what you're trying to do. I don't need to hear Blathers say for the umpteenth time about how I already donated all the fossils the museum needs and that he would consider buying it for his personal collection but no he needs to practice his self control and give it back. I don't need to get every mini tutorial about moving buildings or building bridges/ramps every single time. - Terraforming. Oh. My. God. The single block terraforming is annoying. I know it kind of helps in getting every little block placed perfectly but all the times I've accidentally built/torn down a block I wasn't trying to could make me go mental. Flattening your island or building your island back up from a flattened state is the most sleep-inducing thing I've ever done. - Your character's position slightly off while hitting rocks. Oh gosh, the inner rage I have felt when I go to hit a rock. I have objects or holes dug properly to keep me in place perfectly so I can mash that button, only to realize after starting that my character is slightly off position or my stick drift is acting up and I'm slowly sliding off center and then going to dig a hole next to the rock instead, ending in me getting less resources than the max I could get from a rock. Extra rage if this happens at a bell rock. (Ik when it comes to stick drift that's mostly on me for not having it fixed or getting replacements and not the fault of the game, though) - Villagers standing/sitting in the way of where you're trying to go or where you're trying to place something/terraform. This makes me genuinely wish I could punt villagers off my island every so often. Not to mention they have the nerve to get mad at you if you push them out of the way too far. Either way, despite my essay, I look forward to seeing what improvements they may make if they make another installment (I'm guessing they naturally would considering how big of a hit New Horizons was)

Just thinking out loud : how about machines ? How about machines/objects that could transform resources into more valuable resources ? Introduce some factory mechanics. We already plenty of existing machines in ACNH, like the coffee machine for example. Imagine you have to collect a bunch of coffee seeds, and use it to make actual coffee ? I don't know. And how about make use of our villagers to make things ? The only thing they are useful with is getting DIY receipes. But come on, wouldn't it be nice to have them doing tasks, like taking care of the crops (and not just randomly waters the flowers), pick 'em, and store 'em in a chest somewhere ? And maybe process 'em later on ? And you don't have to be even log into the game while they do it. I don't know. Just some ideas. And more importantly, I want STAKES. Because up to a certain point, all of the villagers are useless, Tom Nook, Isabelle, the sister, Brewster, etc. are useless. Just some ideas here : once in while, a natural disater happen, and some buildings are damaged or even destroyed, and you have to craft in order to restore them, with the help of your villagers. This is supposed to be a life sim, right ? So, maybe, just maybe, introduce growing old and death mechanics ? It's a little gloomy yes, but this way, you should have to care for your villager, for your island, because everything is supposed to change with time. This just some wild thought, and yes, I also understand that the AC is supposed to target all audiences, including childrens. But hey, Minecraft is also played by children, and the stakes in this game are here.

I wouldn't be sad if crafting doesn't come back in the next game. It was a fun new thing for New Horizons but I can live without going forward.

Crafting would be okay with me if they would make bulk crafting a thing. Instead, I need to use my controller's turbo button to make things quickly instead of manually pressing the button.

Aside from no Bulk crafting and too much dupes of DiYs... I think Crafting overall makes the game more interesting and makes gathering materials really fun and stuff... Also it adds alot of depth to trading since some crafting materials are rare enough to warrant a trade to something Super Rare like Pagoda, Mecha and stuff.. I'm indifferent with tools breaking down since you can just always carry a spare. I don't get the gripe of "Oooh Durability s*cks". You have freaking 40 slots of inventory just carry an extra fishing rod or 2 if you're really into Fishing. And since we now have access to portable Storage Box this is a non-issue anymore..

Anyway as far as food is concerned there are several recipes that are high value for selling. If you don't want to play the stalk market (me, I buy those to make recipes) or you are unconfident in your decor without buying stuff and need money to do so, or you need a gift for a resident's bday or something, food is the way to early game since 2.0 started. Idk this whole video feels like a bummer.

Give animal crossing combat My friend made a good point about how tools breaking in botw is fun but ac its annoying
@christianj5950

I really think whoever decided weapons should break so easily - and even gold weapons break - ruined Animal Crossing far more than any other aspect of the game. This is like, artificial scarcity but it doesn't do anything like in BotW because there's no "new" alternative weapons you're going to use instead, it doesn't reward variety or do anything exciting. All it does is frustrate and bore, as you have to run back to the store or find new materials all the time for an item you already had and didn't need to replace in previous games.

I think that terraforming ruined animal crossing for me. don't get me wrong, its cool and all to move water and cliffs and stuff, but it also is too much power and makes the game feel like a sandbox where you decorate an island. in old games when u got your layout u just stuck with it and u didn't have to worry about how you're gonna change everything with terraforming

I don’t think it ruined it, they just make frustrating to. But I bought a treasure island and got every single thing in the game so I can’t say much 🤷‍♂️

Crafting in animal crossing don't bother me, i go to treasure islands and pickup whatever item i want, and for the times i'm too lazy to do that i just craft whatever i need. I barely ever craft since i typically already have the crafted item on hand so to me it seems like a ridiculous thing to be bothered by. If there's anything that really bugs me about this game it's them forcing everyone to go online and trade..... I'm already not a social person in real life, i couldn't careless about "friends" online either, and it's ridiculous how they have practically overy12k items in this game and in order to get all of them or get them fast, they force you to trade online, and that's if you even have Nintendo online..... I like the way the sims goes about it where everything is already in the game, it just depends on if your character has the funds. The sims makes decorating faster, in real time you can do everything fast, your only limit is your imagination, in this game you're forced to be slower, and after you spend around 3-10 mins getting an item you think you need, once you place it you may end up not liking it and have to go through the boblet all over again until you find something that fits 🙄 Besides it being time consuming and tedious, especially trading with certain methods like Nookazon, Nintendo made it that we have to trade with the world's worst gaming online feature too....... You're constantly getting kicked doe to any and everyone's bad internet connection, sometimes some people do annoying things like keeping their windows open preventing you from coming to or leaving the island or press the - button causing the island to crash and everyone having to run around finding what they just lost because it didn't get to save, and it takes long to enter an island and you have to sit through the cutscene of EVERONE entering the island...... Crafting isn't anything to be annoyed with, trading is the annoying problem.

Oh, c'mon! You are being overly whiny here. I think the problem with New Horizons is not the game itself, but the NEW audience. With all that happened during the COVID pandemic, many people who had no idea what Animal Crossing has always been about ended up buying the game, and, since they didn't know what to expect from it, they started comparing it to other similar games they'd played, like this girl does in this video. Animal Crossing teaches you to be in the present, to "stop and smell the flowers", as people say. That's why it's 3D, unlike Stardew Valley; the graphics are 3D for you to get more immersion (and that's why we have features like photos, for example). Personally, when I'm in the mood for it, I find it VERY relaxing to take strolls around the beach and collect manilla clams, or go for a swim and dive for sea creatures, while listening to the sound of the sea and the subtle background music. If you are not distracted by anything else, and just focused on the moment, it can actualy feel like real vacations; like you are actually swimming in the sea. Then, whenever I'm kind of more stressed than usual and thus bait crafting, fishing or bug catching feel a little too repetitive (which doesn't happen often), I simply watch some video here on RU-vid while I do these things. It's never been a problem for me. And as for the "breakable tools", well, that's been EVEN LESS of a problem, tbh, because I have all my tools with me by default, and I can fill the amount of spaces left in my bag with fish or insects without any of my tools breaking. So then, when I'm full of fish or insects, I sell them, and then I customize my tool(s) to restore their durability. I even have a crafting station placed right in front of Nook's Cranny, to make everything more convenient. It's honestly a seamless cycle that causes me no problems at all. The reason I suspect this girl might not be the right audience for a game like Animal Crossing is, for example, that she said that she is purposefully breaking tools all the time just to do the Nook Miles challenge. See? That is NOT how you are supposed to play this game. No wonder you're getting annoyed. You are supposed to keep playing the game however you want and every now and then receive the nice surprise that you somehow completed an achievement. And the same goes to the whole catalog collecting thing. Stop trying to speedrun the game. That's what's actually ruining your enjoyment. If you are waiting for a certain set of items to complete your intended design on the island, just explore different designs you CAN complete with the things you have and keep playing until you finally get those other items you are waiting for. And please, stop complaining all the time about everything. Honestly, gamers these days are 100% the whiniest, most annoying audience in the entertainment business. I pity the poor game developers.
