I remember Trey Gowdy questioning Eric Holder about the approximately 100,000 individuals that were forbidden from owning firearms that tried to buy them anyway during a one year period. Out of those 100,000 they brought charges against less than 100 and successfully prosecuted about a dozen. 12 out of 100,000! And let's not forget that when tens of thousands of violent criminals were destroying and throwing bricks and Molotov cocktails and burning police stations down and storming senate offices and state houses and assaulting and murdering and terrorizing every single major neighborhood all across the entire country for over a year straight, what we're democrats doing..... cheering and applauding and calling it a "fiery but mostly peaceful" "summer of love" and saying "they won't stop and shouldn't" and "we have to give them room to destroy". So when wholesale nationwide violent crime was being perpetrated, democrats actually supported and defended it. Democrats fomented and created this rise n violence, not mitigated it like empathetic non sociopaths do. They don't want to come down hard on criminals and crime, they want to cheer it on while talking about saving innocent little boys and girls n school so that they can intentionally kill innocent little boys and girls before even seeing the light of day. Democrats just don't hold the same values and principles that good and decent Americans do. In 2021 we set a record with over 1800 carjackings which resulted in only about 100 arrests and even fewer prosecutions. Criminals caught with guns are typically back on the streets a few days later. I recall an incident in Greektown a few years ago where a man, who had beaten someone to death less than a decade prior was involved in a shooting. I believe this degenerate shot himself in the groin so at least there was some justice.

I believe culture plays a role. People like to blame poverty but it’s not that simple. For one, poverty and criminal demographics don’t quite align. For another here in Chicago not all poor neighborhoods are crime ridden. For example Chinatown is filled with poor Asians and they commit almost no violent street crime. There is crime but it’s not violent. Many if not most of the buildings with storefronts on the first floor and a second or third floor in Chinatown have gambling/opium dens up there. Virtually street crime in and around Chinatown is committed by a different demographic. We know street gangs drive crime in America, but politicians and even the public is fairly reluctant to do anything about it. Instead they either ignore it or focus on guns because that is much easier. We just had 2 mass shootings here in Chicago in about a week and they went completely ignored by the national media which is typical.

Here in Chicago a criminal can get caught with a firearm and a few days later be involved in a high speed chase across the city. That actually happened. Here in Chicago a criminal that went to jail for beating someone to death can be on the street less than a decade later attempting to murder someone else. That also happened. A Mt. Prospect woman in suburban Chicago was charged with multiple felonies for buying guns for Chicago gangbangers. Her punishment was a small fine, community service and probation. We have prosecutors, judges and politicians refusing to do their jobs with the current laws. Adding more laws for them to ignore isn’t an answer.

It makes perfect sense when you are instructed not to prosecute criminals.

I can't remember the 6 cities exactly but they were for example Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. , etc. that if you removed those cities from the gun violence stats the U.S. would be one of the top safest firearm owning countries in the world. As gang activity in England increased in recent years so did crime including gun crime despite the strict gun laws. There is no correlation between strict gun laws and lower crime.

Context is everything. There were significant changes in concealed carry laws in Ohio in 2017. More people carrying more guns in public - more gun violence... who would have guessed? Things are opening up even more this year, so it will be interesting to see if gun violence increases again. Since that is the national trend, I'm betting on an increase... I hope I'm wrong...
