Florio you have no clue how to run a pro football team. Brad Holmes has spent more time around Goff than anyone. Drafted him, traded for him, and now rewarded him for what he’s done and going to do. Stop thinking you or anyone else know more about the Lions than Brad freaking Holmes does. All of these new contracts will be for more than what Goff got. You would think Holmes might get a little respect for his body of work, but no, some unnamed nfl executive says the Lions paid to much……it’s the price of doing business.

I love it how so many in the media can’t grasp that players can get better, they can grow and learn, especially at the QB position and especially a not very mobile pocket passer like Jared. People want to remember his flaws when he was in his early 20’s and fail to see how clutch he’s been over the last few years. Watch the first Bears game last year and you will see the kinda leader he’s become things went wrong and he stayed on point and led us to a Amazing 2 minute comeback marching down the field to score multiple times like a prime Brady. I have no doubt he will continue to grow as our QB especially considering he’s not even 30 yet!

He's dragging the Lions because they should have played out and franchise tagged Goff. Same principle, don't pay a mid-tier quarterback top tier money. Florio is wrong for equating Goff and Dak. Goff is a championship level quarterback on a championship level team. The Lions know they have their leader. The Cowboys are content to win the home regular season schedule.

Goff has less of a cap hit this year as a result of this contract. 2024 cap hit is now 27.2 mil. His 2025 cap hit is 32.6 mil. Stop focusing on the contract and actually focus on the cap hit by year. Lions also have an out in 2028.

Let’s make one thing very clear…Brad Holmes feels pressure from no one and will never allow himself to make emotional decisions based on other peoples opinions. If anyone has any doubts about that clearly hasn’t been paying attention to Brads words or actions the last 3 years.

Why do you think the fans love the guy? You can hate Goff all you want but the guy has won with two terrible teams. Goff beat the Rams in the Playoffs, regular season isn’t anywhere near as important. I guess I should be happy the Lions get this much attention compared to the decades of no coverage.

Florio, do you watch Lions games and look at Goff's numbers? Over the past two seasons the numbers say he's Top 5 in the NFL. Goff's last 2 seasons Pass yards 9,013 NFL rank 2nd Pass TD's 59 NFL rank T-3rd TD/INT ratio 3.1 NFL rank 2nd 1st Down PCT 38% NFL rank 4th Goff has been worth every penny and barring injury should continue be with his excellent play as the Detroit Lions QB.

Goff is the leader of the team and they are treating him that way. This is good for the locker room. They have the championship pieces in place for a run. He's under 30. You want them to make him play out his contract and start franchise tagging him? 😮 That doesn't happen to quarterbacks.

It’s a distraction you don’t want contract talks looming when you’re trying to win a Super Bowl and you always pay more for waiting. Top 5 offense last 2 seasons and how many qb’s have won as much as lions last 2 years 🤔 the point really is there’s a negative stigma about Goff yet he wins games for the majority of his career and he has out played multiple of the so called top qb’s head to head.

Florio, Goff got his revenge against McVay and the Rams by beating them in the playoffs under the bright lights and deafening crowd at Ford Field. Stafford was looking up at those bright lights from his backside and thought he was seeing stars. There's no revenge to seek for the Rams in week 1 vs. Detroit, Stafford doesn't have it in him...

I like Goff but there is no way I would pay him $50MM+. He's a system-dependent QB who has top-notch talent all around him. And we have no clue how Goff is going to perform should OC Ben Johnson leave after this season. Lions should have played out the contract for this season, franchise tag him after the season, and then see how Goff does under a different OC should Ben Johnson leave. UNLESS Goff was willing to accept a $33-45 million type of contract - Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr, Baker Mayfield, etc.

On the Long brothers podcast (which is worth watching unlike Florio.) Kyle Long referred to Ford Field as the toughest place to play in the NFC North. Who would have thought that would ever be said?
