These wheels literally top every single wheel out there on the market into the stat sheet, The lightest wheel for the depth.... check, name brand ceramicspeed bearings..... check, 24mm internal rim width hooked...... check, 5mm carbon fiber aero spokes..... check, all at a competitive price of $1700 tro compete with the heavy hitters out there. I really think farsports had a plan and executed it perfectly and came out with a nice product here is the link to the wheels: www.farsports.com/products/farsports-evo-series and use code (gc performance) for $30 dollars off
@@detmer87 surely comfy enough with GP5K 28's measuring 30+ at reasonable tubeless psi? Coming from the old days of insanity like 110psi on 21-23mm tires lol.
These look amazing. One small improvement I think would be a 31-33mm external width to match that 24mm internal. Reserve, Roval, Enve have a bigger difference between int and ext width for crosswind stability and aero drag on front wheel. These still appear to be optimised for a 28mm tyre, if they had a 31-33mm external they'd do well with a 30mm or 32mm tyre as well.
Actually, they measure to about 32.1mm in the center of the rim depth as they bulge out in the middle. It measures 30.75mm at the lip where it meets the tires. 28mm GP5k will be flush with the rim lip but the 32.1 center bulge brings it very close to the magical 105.
@@GCPerformance18frankly, they are simply not worth it. I'd take qualitly steel bearings and the not insignificant discout that would come with that any day.
I've had similar farsport wheels for the last year with steel bearings. awesome wheels. Mine was 1220 grams with rim tape, max Rim width is 31.5mm, they are 30mm at the tire rim interface, 20 spoke, and spoke holes in the rim bed. So the cheaper steel bearings are still crazy light and cheap, mine came with 3 extra spokes.
@@GCPerformance18 oooof, it has no holes? That might sound nice but who wants to deal with replacing spokes or truing the wheel :( Or can you adjust these carbon spokes from outside?
100% agree that the race was on once Joe started selling the CRW's. these are a cracking deal. i have a pair of 9Velo CD45's that are a hair lighter but are also 5mm more shallow and 1mm (external) more narrow. really can't go wrong with either of the Farsports, CRW, No.6 or 9Velo choices.
I ONLY buy FarSports wheels. I get them from Wheelsfar. After a year on my current wheels, their Gravel specific wheelset with DT Swiss 240 hubs, I've had absolutely ZERO issues. I also weigh 200lbs and regularly put out 1200 watts when I do sprints at the end of my rides...love em. Steel spokes though, I don't mess with carbon spokes.
Looks good, still Elite wheels Drive50 are 1.29kg with ceramic bearings for about 1000eur are a price stellar. I use them and they are superb for the money
I'd skip the EVO S and go for their Hyper series that sells for under $800 after cashback. Posted a shorts video of 58/58 I purchased a couple weeks ago for $760 after cashback. 1300g for 58/58 is insane, of course you can save ~$30 if you went for the 50/50 which weighs 1200g.
Yea, I have those in 50mm. Those are best wheels for the money. I'll be getting a second set. How does the 58 handle wind. The 50's are Rick steady up to 20mph, but I'm very light and small
My Canyon Aeroad frame from 2022 has a 30 mm max width, so I cant upgrade with the CRWs, but with these wheels. I am really tempting to pull the trigger. With these wheels, I can bring the ready to ride weight down to around 7,15 Kg from 7,5 Kg (DT Swiss ARC 1100 =1.550 g). The only draw back right now for me is that they havent been aero tested against the DT Swiss.
CeramicSpeed bearings are what help achieve that weight being ceramic they are lighter then steel. Plus cersmicspeed is proven and comes with 4 year warranty at any dealer or shop. You get great support with them
My Hunt Race Aero | Wide easily rotates for 5 minutes before going back and forth to a dead stop in about 30 seconds more. Ceramic bearings may just be for weight savings
30 external is good if you want to run 28s, but it's probably too narrow for 32s. I think the closest brand right now is maybe LightBicycle's Turbo rims (32 external). But their hub doesn't secure the spokes laterally, which is a dealbreaker for me. Elite Drive Helix is also vaguely in that ballpark.
not at all too narrow, people were running 30s on 21mm internal and also 28mm externals way before this, you will be fine, I challenge you to ride the two back to back and tell me if you feel the a real difference.,.... just ride the bike
Bought a pair of farsports but had to get them warrantied after the ratchet kept on slipping. They sent me new ratchets and springs within a week. other than that no problems
Nice to see Farsports upped the game. Have been riding the Wheelsfar (same company, but offer custom configurations) FSD45 since beginning of year, can't say enough good things about quality and service.
GC thanks a lot for this video, you're very kind to share with us. I have a question for you, and i would like to know your opinion :-) i hesitate between the CRW 4045 and this one. What i love with 4045 it's the little difference in deep (40/45) but what i'm little bit scared it's i am close to the wheight limit (100kg) What i like with the FARSPORT it's the weight (in my Bianchi Oltre pro, i was in 50mm deep Reparto Corse wheel and it's was 1680gr!!!) but what i'm stressed it's the capacity to climb with this deep wheel and the crosswind. What do you think ? Sorry for my english 🙂 All love from Switzerland ^^
they will handle how eveyr 50mm wheel deals with cross winds, I dont notice to much because of my weight and I am very comfortable on a bike and dealing with crosswinds
Basically Professional Specification Wheels at that weight with Ceramic Bearings for 1700 is Cheap. I done a video on lightest tyres I could find, 215grams, 25c tyres 189grams 23c tyres but they do run larger more 28c & 25c when at 95psi.
3:10 Front wheel keeps going to stabilize with a valve at the bottom. Wheels aren't balanced well. If they would, the wheel would just stop and wouldn't continue backward. Sure, it can be tire issue as well.
They ussuslly don’t balance wheel with valve. That valve is going to always act as a pendulum because a consumer can run whatever size. And especially if there is little drag on hub. It will go back and forth
@@petersouthernboy6327 yea I have the 50mm 1218g. I had them on my SL8 and now there on my Pinarello F5. I'm buying a second set when they have the black Friday sale
I bought a set of 50mm Farsports wheels a few years ago and while they were good wheels, they were just that tiny bit too large. Even my local (excellent) bike shop would take a whole day to change the tyre and if you had a puncture, forget about changing it roadside. After a few months I bit the bullet, sold them and bought some Enve wheels instead which was one of my better decisions.
Are superior bearings mostly just psychological, marginal (if any) gains or has anyone actually tested that they are significantly effective at increasing speed in any way?
There's no performance benefit to ceramic bearings. They last longer, that's it. Having said that, one problem that can occur with them is that ceramic bearings are harder than the races, and this can cause the races to wear out prematurely.
@@GCPerformance18 Yes! No need for more! We aren't that heavy, right? It's pretty much a common ground for many (if not all) manufacturers or one of ISO "standards". What worries me is when the standard isn't "met" - I lately bought ICAN Aero 50 mm (rim brake based) based on DT 240 hubs and Sapim CX Ray spokes. Bit heavier than your model. Still, very light wheels. Also rated for 120 kilos. Great wheels. I just hope they won't appear to be "too thin" one day.
Grant, Love the wheels. Have you taken for a ride? Pimping alot of wheels. You are making wheelset buying difficult. Do a top 5 please for 2024! Also keep in mind buyers need to understand that like No6 31+mm rim width won't fit alot of bike on the chainstay (rear). Glad I checked with Specialized. These wheels look very promising; however, am I seeing that non driveside hub spokes have no cap... No redundancy leaves me a little concerned.
@@Dobiecx Yes with caps. I was looking at the C5 model and those didn't have a cap. Open on the breaking side. Driveside looked fine. The ones here that Grant reviewed has an Alan key. Grant, did you inquire about the locktite or if you need to tighten every so many miles at the hub?
These had to be good . Why else would you have started the vid dressed as a tyre? Damn. I only just bought a new set of Magene Exars a couple of days ago
@GCPerformance18 it's a shame they want to take the choice away and only sell the more expensive heavier options. They want you to pay the same as a family car for a bike these days and the majority of cyclists are accepting it.
First look video with an affiliate code. No riding. Everything Jesse says is a sure sign of being a shill. Instead he's in here lapping it up. Again Nero 🤡 Show
farsports is a company that hgas been around for along time, I dont care if you dont buy them, I am showing the public wheels they might not know about... I get no kickback from that discount code.... take your shill word back to uk
@@GCPerformance18 it's a new rim profile, untested. But here you are saying they "top everything in the market". You don't know how it performs in real life. Totally untested. Regardless, the shill definition comes from the company you keep online. Not me. Might want to ponder that. This really does come across as an advert for Farsports.
I 100% don’t buy that reported weight. I cannot see, at all, that it’s true. I’ve now built about six SL8s, and the lightest I’ve seen is 7.0kg, and that had Roval CLX 32s, and completely blinged out (£14500 uk). These Farsports might be a little lighter, but not 700g lighter! Your scales are deliberately skewed imho Edit 1: Pogacar blings out his bike and can only get it to about 7kg Edit 2: If this weight is real you’re stating that you can get a 1500g steel frame bike to weigh about 7kg. Absolutely no chance. Given the frame and fork weight of roughly 1150g, that means your kit weighs only 5.2kg
send me a message on instagram, I will facetime you in real time and weigh it, I am not hear to lie go to my instagram and send me a message and we can talk...... in my honest opinion, also every single item on my bike is not stock and is way lighter then stock items
Too bad that carbon spokes are a deal breaker up here in Michigan. I need the compliance of steel spokes as the roads & paths are less than ideal. I wish roads here were like they are in Florida!
Ummm? Man you got 3 options ,there is exactly same spec wheels with steel spoke for 200$ less or basic model without ceramic speed bearings for 1000$ did you watch video ???
I have 2 sets of BOYD Altamont aluminum wheels with ONYX Vesper Hubs and steel spokes that are far better than those wheels. I built them myself that's how I know. Mine are totally silent and the rear hub has instant engagement. I have no use for China direct except for the TPU tubes.
@@oliverjacobs8594 yeah but those are niche custom built wheels like the ones Twisted Wheels made. I’d love something more mainstream that’s easily accessible. Easily accessible = go on a site, click, pay and collect / receive. 😄
Hopefully the spokes don’t come apart on that wheel. Previously their carbon spokes came apart army on two wheel sets. I got pictures to prove it just don’t know how to send a pictures and they did not make good on it. They sent me spokes I had to replace a wheel, which took a long time then I had to take it to a shop because I don’t through wheels yet cost me all my time and effort, and they did not reimburse me
Steel bearing last longer and steel spokes are a less harsh ride with greater vertical compliance. So I personally can see the attraction but I ride ceramic bearing and carbon spoke. That said I got that package from Elite wheels for a 80% reduction in cost on this offering.
