Fran gets a phone call from a woman who claims that Fran was switched at birth and might be her real mother.
From Season 4 Episode 19, 'Fran's Roots'. A woman calls Fran saying she might be her mother and she was switched at birth, due to a mix up at the hospital the day she was born.
Fran goes to Sylvia to ask her about the day she was born, and finds out the story might be true after Sylvia confesses that she left Fran to go and find some food. Meanwhile, Niles tries to convince Maxwell to sell one of his plays so C.C. has to move to L.A.

Growing up with an Italian family, the neighbors would call the police sometimes thinking everyone was fighting. The uncles were just playing poker 😂😂 The yelling for everything is soooo accurate

In the italian version, this show was heavily censored, Fran was not jewish but from a rural zone of Rome, Silvya and Morty were her american's aunt and uncle and their name were ASSUNTA and ANTONIO xD

LOL I was switched at birth with a black baby. Both parents confirm this. My mom knew the child presented her was not hers. So the story goes. I finally accepted I was returned to the right mother (many years later) at my grandmother's funeral when a relative I had never met said, " You must be -------- daughter. You look just like her".

@@love_me_miguel it was Atlanta GA 1967. I can't say what happened. I was a new born. The funny part is I grew up feeling like I wasn't a part of my family. my mom told me that story fairly early.. Thus, I thought I could be black right up until the moment that person at my grandmother's funeral that said i looked just like my mom. And I do. Physical structure to fat placement. I look just like my mom. Hence, i had to conclude I am her biological child.

I absolutely don't (I'm female myself) but am like a curvier version of my dad's mother and my great great aunts eyeshape. Just thought I'd share that, before many people start questioning their parenthood.

For a character who is constantly eating Sylvia is incredibly restrained in her eating. Probably because the actor didn't want to eat too much unhealthy food. If you watch her in the show she tends to just hold the food and if she does eat she only takes the daintiest of bites lol

I remember this episode. The woman who said she might be Fran's real mother was Telma Hopkins and when Fran met her, she realized she could be half African American. Telma was rich, too.

@@PrinceAkaiVtuber so i looked it up and here's what i found "As the Italian dub of The Nanny was altered to hide the Jewish origins of Fran, Sylvia became Aunt Assunta, an Italian immigrant, related to Francesca and offering temporary shelter and a maternal guidance to her niece." that's rather wild. and after reading (albeit very briefly) about why they went to great lengths to hide fran being jewish, is so that the character would appeal to italian audiences more, so they just made her italian and reference typical italian things instead.

In the final season, Maude became a congresswoman after her friend Rep. Eileen McIllvaney dies of a heart attack in Maude's home, and instead of a special election, the Governor appointed Maude to replace her since Maude was working with McIllvaney as was about to be appointed to represent McIllvaney in the Tuckahoe HQ while McIllvaney was in DC. The episodes were titled "Maude's Big Move" parts 1, 2 & 3, and ended up being the final episodes of the series.

I love that Telma Hopkins was cast for this role! 😍 In general, the casting on this show was perfect, especially when it came to Fran's family and legendary when it came to all of the guest stars. Sidenote: There should be a video like this with all of the guest stars, including Peter M.J. So many legends were on this show!❤

Upon further inspection gedempte is a form of pot roast, so apparently sylvia "ketchup for pasta sauce" fine is capable of processing pot roast into meatballs or she adapted the recipe by substituting ground beef for the beef chuck/shoulder roast.

Yes, they have always been Jewish. Even the actresses that played Fran and Sylvia (Fran Drescher and Renee Taylor) are Jewish in real life. How did they explain in Italy the scenes in which Fran goes to temple, the scene where a circumsion takes place and the various scenes in which you can see men wearing the traditional Jewish kippahs?
