My 1st husband was quite jealous & chased away all of my (thoroughly platonic) male friends, some of them friends from childhood. Then, he cheated on me throughout my 2nd pregnancy. He ended up leaving us (his wife & kids) for a flight attendant. I was devastated at the time, but it was the best thing that could have happened. Guys like that often becomes violent, if it's the *wife* trying to leave. This year, hubby #2 & I will celebrate 24 years together (22 of them married). I can be friends w/ whomever I choose, and so can he. We just make sure to know & hang out w/ eachother's friends. He's also the Very Best Dad to "our" 2 now-grown kids (from my 1st marriage). I was Sooo Lucky to find such a *secure, kindhearted, loving, fair-minded* guy, who helped to raise 2 kids he didn't create as if they were his own. He'd pressured me to quit my office job if I "wanted to be a GOOD mom" but of course *also* expected me to still have an income. After he decided that I was "too boring" being who I needed to be for the kids in my care & our own 2, I went to a temp agency. They led to my favorite role ever, where I was quickly hired & worked for many years. I soon joined the co. softball team & that's where I met hubby #2. We became good friends 1st, then that friendship sparked into something Even Better. I got to know him *&* his parents (with whom he was close). They're now in their 80s & I consider them ALL to be the Very Best humans I've ever known. They've loved my kids as much as their other grandkids from day 1. People *that* kind & loving are rare indeed. I'm beyond grateful that Fate or God led me to them. I hope *everyone* here finds the same happy outcome. My heart was shattered by my divorce. I still loved him at the time, despite his infidelity & abusive behavior, b/c I understood what had broken him in childhood. But his cruelty in the divorce slapped me into the reality that he was *incapable* of truly loving anyone. So, our marriage had been a decade long lie. While rebuilding my career, I also got some much-needed counseling. I think that's what helped me most to choose a better match the 2nd time, and in so many other ways. I wish everyone had access to such therapy. Building a new & better life IS possible. It's scary, but You Can Do It! The way my husband and i see it is "dont put yourself in the position for me to question your loyalty in the first place ". We both know that we wouldnt like it if one of us found out they were hanging out with a member of the opposite sex alone. So, if you know that doing that would bother your signficant other- why do it in the first place? It also helps that you dont put youraelf in a situation where you know you may be tempted. I.e. going to a club and getting really drunk and then leaving with someone who isnt your s/o. You may not have made that decision sober and may regret it later. So why put yourself in a situation where you know temptation is a possibility? All men find women physically attractive even if theyre not their wife, but its their duty to avoid temptation and have self control. You will never find a respectable married man at a place where temptation may be. Same can be said for respectable married women.

This is definitely the way it works best. I know one girl who constantly refuses to get to know me but she is flirty with my boyfriend but he denies it. I think this is partially true. I have two male friends. I have never wanted to have sex with either out of respect for their spouses. When someone is married they are no longer an option in my mind and get turned into these sexless being to me. I have no interest but your company which is why I’m super open and good friends with their wives. I don’t do things alone with these men either but if the circumstance requires us to drive alone somewhere I’m not going to panic. BOUNDARIES. Always have respectful boundaries with the opposite sex.

I wouldnt have had a big problem with my man being friends with this one girl but since they wanted to keep their "friendship" secret, she knew he was committed and lying to me & basically encouraged it by going along when she could've said I don't feel comfortable hanging out and talking this much without your gf knowing and didn't. So that's why I put friendship in quotes. He claim that's all it was, but I think he's lying. Any decent woman friend wouldn't have allowed the sneakiness. Good to hear someone respectful speaking up, the type of person I wouldn't mind my man chatting with every now and then.
Relax. If they are both loyal . Then he is correct. It's only a checkmate if he is a cheater. In this scenario the single guy friend is bigger threat than the single girl homie. Unless you are just going to say women are the ones jumping out of windows when the significant other arrives equally.
My playbook states I must meet her male friends and decide which ones i am cool with and she must meet my female friends and decide which ones she is cool with. The agreed upon bad eggs must always he accompanied by both parties to avoid any tension in the relationship. Pretty simple I think.
This is a fallacy. Women innately care about resource security and men innately care about paternity security which cannot easily be guaranteed and can be faked/cuckolded. That's why it 100% matters that a female doesn't have male friends. Men can have female friends because they can easily guarantee to their woman of choice that she is receiving their resources over other women they may know.
