Aldana was absolutely pathetic. Straight loser mentality. Wouldn't even look at her coaches. If she moved her feet, she didn't throw hands. If she tried to throw, she planted out of range and didn't move her head. I genuinely prayed Nunes slept her from top control by the 5th.

It's bizarre how, every time Aldanda landed, Nune's knees would drop from the impact, yet Aldana would then never, ever press any kind of pace. Like, what?

At first I was thinking she had accepted the risk of losing on points and was just being patient and waiting for the perfect moment to counter and finish the fight, but Nunes was open to counter so often and Aldana didn't throw. It's sad for her, not for losing but for not doing herself justice, she wasted her opportunity.

Guru it’s honestly crazy that you can’t see how brave and stunning Irene Aldana was during this performance, honestly brought tears to my eyes watching such a warrior in the octagon.

Irene was embarrassing to watch, she had the guts to say she was up to the challenge simply because she is a Mexican, more like Mexican't. I thought Juliana's performance was laughable but at least she was going all in despite getting her face pummeled. Irene was simply fighting defensively in the biggest stage of her life, reluctant to let herself go, Irene should be nowhere near title contention ever again. I'm happy Nunes retired because UFC wont put woman's title fight as main event in PPV in the future.

Aldana is a technical fighter with some gritty wins and loses, but her issues are that 1. she’s not able to deviate from a losing game plan and 2. she got caught up in the pressure of the moment.

You could tell the moment aldana walked into the ring she was just happy to be there and not there to win a title smiling,waving to the crowd and nunes walking to the ring like she ready to eat

Blanchfield and Shevchenko are the only two respectable fighters that could be BW champ and they're FWs. Dumont's bunda is a 🔐 for featherweight champ

it pissed me off so bad to watch. She was eating tekken combos from the champ and barely getting rocked and affect nunes with the two actually decent shots she threw. If she tried even a little bit she could maybe have walked through Nunes and chinned her. Maybe that's a crazy take, who knows

Nunes could have destroyed Aldana with the outside low kick. She was weighted into that boxer stance and had no ability to quickly check or move away from the outside low kicks. It was like Amanda chose not to finish her. Those kicks were open all night long

They should shelve 135 and 145 and add the 105lb atomweight instead

As a promotional move. This is the perfect time for the UFC to create a tournament. To crown the new bantamweight champion. Because like Guru said. If they just pick out 2 fighters (like the did with Glover and Hill) people will just call them paper champs. This bummed me out bad. I’ve been high in aldana for awhile. This appeared to be a mental block as opposed to a purposeful decision by aldana to blow the fight on purpose. Hard to give nunes a lot of credit for this one. Sad because aldana is good. This wasn’t the worst but it was bad.

Guru what you're referring to is "fighting to win" vs "fighting not to lose".. taking risks to make something happen vs playing it safe to get a moral victory from going the distance. Another good example is Anthony Smith vs Jones, he just turtled up and survived for the majority of the fight but he talks in hindsight like he gave Jones a real fight.

I think Pena going in her first fight with Nunes was easier than Aldana going in her fight with Nunes. Nunes beat Anderson but didn't completely destroy her for 25 minutes. But Aldana she was scared, she seen what Amanda can do and the second Pena fight was a Zingano, Tate style beatdown so she was completely scared of that power.

It's just frustrating to watch a fighter wait around for divine intervention for an opportunity instead of trying to make something happen. It's not like Nunes is super elusive or hard to get in on, Aldana just fought like she was worried about the power and didn't want to get hit.

I think they're going to have Pena and Pennington fight for the vacant belt. Pennington is on a five-fight win streak and was the official back-up for the Main Event, while Pena is -- according to her, anyway -- "the girl who sent the Lioness running" (lol). #1 and #2... hard to argue with. Holm and Vieira aren't far behind, but they're both booked right now for fights next month and in a weird spot because Vieira has a controversial win over Holly, yet lost to Pennington. Meanwhile Holm has had a pretty good recent run, including a win over Pennington... but lost to Vieira. They need to get past their next fight and maybe that'll bring some clarity to a more deserving #1 contender. I think it's too early for a rematch. Then there's always the possibility of someone from 125 coming up to challenge. Valentina has talked about doing so and she is an ex-Bantamweight herself. She holds wins over Holm *and* Pena already. I could see her going for champ-champ if she beats Grasso in the rematch.

I could see Holly Holmes winning the title by the end of the year or Valentina/Grasso winner moving up and winning it, which would be the best case scenario for UFC if that happened. Don't see Pena or Pennington holding it long if they have to fight Holly or Valentina. Also Gerandamine beat all three of them and if she ever comes back she will be in the mix as well.
