I so hope that UNI2 does well by any stroke of luck because under night has such a good gameplay system and by the looks of things is going to get even better by not having C be an EX move and making it more of a traditional multi button execution
i don't agree w u personally the thing that killed online for this game was how dogshit the netcode was and well rollback will fix it by no means does that mean this is gonna be as big as sf but it'll be playable online without having to go to lfg discords
tbh I was completely unaware of this series until after uni2 dropped (not realising the influence this had on stuff like mugen) and even though I play street fighter and Tekken the most, it made me want to actually try the series and get into the lore as well, so I am now just trying out cl-r
I don't see any reason why they should remove most of the roster so they can be monetized later on. I'd just go back to Uniclr in that case for being limited. For sprites I do kinda wish they got an update but it's whatever for me. If anything I feel this game needs more in single player content which is just as important as the online. We have the Arcade/Chronicles mode back sure but a boss rush would seem pretty cool, akin to Type Luminas Or the "Abyss" In Blazblue central fiction. At the end of the day the game just need's to be fun and marketed well and that alone is all it needs imo.
Theres alot of fighting games that are out for new players. Not every fg needs to appeal to beginners and every fg is doing what you are suggesting. I think a fg with some legacy skill from the previous game would be a nice change of pace
@_Maritime_ street fighter is that game lol kinda ...but I get it.. think this game would be fine if it picked a different release date and if they simply updated the graphics to b on par with Guilty Gear Strive or Granblue
they shouldn't change the sprites, as that would be expensive and time consuming for perfectly good art. Spritework is mostly timeless. But the stages look dated still, and I'm not sure why the graphical improvements were so subtle there.
Yeah youre right. The sprites are ageless anyways, but the stages look so dead, uninspired and such. Liminal and feels flat at the same time. Even if lorewise they are fighting setting with no one to see them, there are lots of cool and flashy places in cities. How about a football field on top of a Japanese diet building. Or some closed mall late night. Maybe even an underground subway/walkway
The sprites in this series are so gorgeous that you cant really redo them "better". It would just be a lot of time and money to make something on par with what we already have
Ngl this game may last 3 months....think it coming out around tekken 8..which isn't the best release timing...its going to get overshadowed by alot ..they should have taken notes from guilty gear strive graphically
Honestly the graphics are the main thing to be changed when I read online on the subject. And while I love the game's gameplay so much, I can't disagree that the game isn't appealing at all visually. I was interested by the title because I wanted something "kinda like blazblue" lol.
I think I understand what you're saying but there are three main problems 1. What does "redo the graphics" even mean. This might be a personal thing but that just sounds so incredibly vague to me. 2. Reducing the roster by that much would probably just make people mad. Making a whole new game while taking out most of the roster would probably just be a downgrade from clr 3. People have been practicing this game for a whole decade. Giving them new toys is cool but changing everything about them might be a step over the line.
I mean I'm one of those players came back to uni to prepare for the onslaught when uniceles comes out. . Than there's the people who never left, I honestly feel bad for newcomers This will results in them either dropping the game or being reminded that it's gonna take em time to get the hang of things. Where as all of use who played uni only have to get the hang of the new moves, mechanics, combo routes and new characters.
The only thing uni needed was better netcode. I'll gladly lose out on whatever shiny bells and whistles to get the game I love, but playable online vs more people.
It’s a bad take because the graphics have been redone. The sprites aren’t in the same style of UNICLR and the portraits are updated as well. If by redone, you mean made 3D or 2.5D, that’s an even worse take because it’s contrary to what the game is from jump. Appealing to more people is never inherently the right choice and I’m glad that’s not necessarily the goal here. This game is for the people who were in from jump and those who missed out, but are intrigued now. That’s good enough. Not everything should be for everyone. Especially in fighting games. The focus on online is actively hurting and impeding aspects of the genre.
French Breads curse is that they keep releasing their game each time a better game with more players is being released resulting in what will end up happening to their previous games. Becoming a discord fighter.
Screw them, then. UN2 is literally my favorite fighting game EVER made! If new players just hate nearly perfectly made fighting games, then they don’t even deserve to play this game to begin with.
Graphics and combo's are nice it doesn't need out of this world graphics and 1000 combo strings to be a great FIGHTING game.. it's perfect and tbh I prefer it over Tekken 8 and SFVI because of how simple and great the combo's are.. people are just used to getting what thy ask for and the fact that the developers are sticking to their core with the 2nd one is wonderful.
Idk man. MBTL on release has insane numbers like 10 or 15 thousands. If only it was in a good launch condition - this could be another DBFZ fighting by the numbers of online. But cos everything was screwed, connection was ass and there were a bunch of problems with synch and desynch - people scatter away in a few month. Another example - DNF Duel. Game has around 50-200 people playing when it was hyped somewhat. And it was still better than for example Street Fighter 6 with 20000 online just and solely cos of much better searching system. In sf6 u get errors and crushes out of the search and also repetative search too. In DNF u could be connected to a lot of people with no problems or delay. Its insane how search of the opponent is actually groundbreaking. Thats the tits! Devs now has that expirience and hopefully can prepare for the launch much better than it was with MBTL. Seeing how they polished MBTL to the current state its actully possible. And if search will be better and working - even 2000, 1000 hell even 500 people online would give so good and nice experience that the game beecame successfull with no probs. So yeah. Searching in the game good and netcode good - the game will blast. If not - welp... sucks. They have one or two shots, its not SF6 or MK1 where people will eat every bs devs throws at them. But if it succeed - it could be the birth of a new living breathing fighting game.
If you can understand the Drastic change in the FGC as a whole, an a new Under night at this time around this lul in the hype of the anime fighter genre, it only points to the game having a resurgence. Filled with players who are old and new who havent wanted to get into the game cause its old an it didnt have Rollback(those cowards). With a new version of the game i can definitely see the game having a decent online experience as long as the game plays well. An it sucks to say a lot of Anime fighters become discord games with in a year cause the game foesnt have clout like a Dragon ball anime game where it makes people want to come back for more an use their favorite characters. Its bound to peter out eventually. But before then its gonna have a super solid online space
@@ActivateFG I hear that but wouldn't anyone new or old ( especially hardcore) want a normal to big size roster from the get go? Like budget wise I can get why a fighting game would have 12 people to start but besides that Who in there right mind says yeah I want a small roster day one after waiting over 10 years for a new series
Just go play guilty gear strive dude. There is nothing wrong with the game visually either. It doesn't need new graphics. It doesn't need to downsize its roster and change the roster's gameplay entirely
I agree. I’m personally happy with the game being updated this way. One day a full on visual overhaul would be cool though. 10 years is quite a long time to stick with the same sprites for any game.
But it does, tho. How are you gonna pay full price for a "sequel" when only a few things have been updated from past games?! This is why companies keep getting away with this 'cause people accept the bare minimum. Like he said in the video major changes need to happen to bring in new people and last longer. If those changes don't happen then online and the game itself is gonna die, AGAIN! I remember playing UNIST a few months after it came out and it was pretty difficult to find matches online. I love UNIB alot it's a game that truly deserves the recognition that most popular games get but that's not gonna happen if they're gonna keep on releasing the same game with minor tweaks. If I have to pay full price for this game then I can't see myself getting the game until it goes on sale.
bruh, many fg have resorted to this method in the past. especially sprite based fighters. before dlc was even a thing. the popular sf2 saw many versions with minor changes like balancing, and a few new moves. super sf 2 added 4 new characters and stages. Hardly an overhaul yet still sold well during its time. people forget that its not straight forward to make a sprite based 2d fighter comparison to 3d models.@@itsmedarneezey
That’s the worst view I’ve heard lol imagine thinking anime fighters care about graphics….and you want less characters? Hope you don’t have opinions on the versus series or tekken
