@@mattyamweelo6027 the song wasn’t even a jay-z track originally, it’s was supposed to be on royce da 5’9’’ debuted album. I never knew Renegade was a diss track, let alone a competition track between Emi and Jigga. People should just learn to appreciate music as it is.. Having a better or tight verse on a song doesn't mean th other part has been destroyed.. It ain't a diss track its a collab

You do not understand music discourse or music fans. We ARE enjoying the music as it is. Discussing and debating who had the better verse is part of the fun.
@tadiwatamanikwanyamazunzu1925

@@eminemfan50098 let me reiterate my point in a much more simpler format. My point is, there is a huge difference when one says so n so had a better verse than their counterpart on a certain song than having someone saying so and so had Destroyed their counterpart on a certain song. The virtue that we have used the term Destroyed it means somehow there was a competition done or the verses were directed to one another.. Hope u have received a free lesson son

When a player is MVP they give him a trophy & like Big L said "I'm the most valuable poet on the m-i-c"!! In the army the soldiers are on the same side but get a medal 4 who did the most kills or most saves,etc. Everything is a comp.

Jay lyrically is not on black thought, nas, em or andre level. Before I heard renegade i knew jay was gonna get washed. I still prefer to listen to jays music but he's not a better lyricist than em respectfully.

Eminem did what he does. I don't think he washed Jay or had a better verse. Em just did what he does. Its like saying kendrick washed the people who featured him on their songs. No one got washed. These artists just do what they were called for. If you ask an artist for a feature, you ask that artist based on what they do best. If you took any em verse from that era and put it on renagade, it would still sound like Jay got washed. Em was just doing what he usually does on his own songs in terms of cadence, rhyming etc.

22 years and I’ve never understood this sentiment. Yes Eminem had the better verse, but it’s not like he was competing with Jay-Z on the song. They were talking about two different topics. It’s not like Control where Kendrick literally called out his contemporaries on the same song he was on with them.
