I've got a 2019 A35. and I think the main difference is when you rev the pre-facelift, the exhaust doesn't pop, it just revs. Great to see they've put that in. it's a shame the pops are still synthetics but well spotted!
Hey@@pantelas9358! I must admit, I've had no problems with it. 3 years I've had it now and not a single mechanical or electrical fault. The only problems I've got are how much things on the MBUX cost and an annoying rattle in the steering column. I've got the premium plus and I would probably avoid this to be honest. I hate to say it because I love the car but you'll never get your money back from it. I've spoken to people about it and it's almost like an unknown when you go to trade in, it's quite a rare car apparently so dealers I've had offers like 8/9k under what one with my mileage would go for. Overall great car, if I swapped now though, id be tempted to go for something a little bit older. the tech is good but when you've got to pay monthly for it, it's just a waste.
@@pantelas9358 I had one for 3 years, besides an annoying glitch on some models where the driver display wouldn't come back on after sleep (required a 1 min shut down of the car) it was a beauty. Minor complaint was it was stiff without adapative dampers and a bit loud in the cabin.
I've had a new A35 five months now replacing the earlier model. Better in many ways, build, equipment, 8sp gearbox, mild hybrid, looks etc. It gets off the line instantly and will keep up with anything to 30 mph, thereafter it's down to power. The new software is really good. I think mine doesn't 'pop' as much as the old one, maybe it just me. This is a major 'facelift'. I did consider the A45 but the PCP deals were ridiculous, nearly 911 money. There's a deal on a35s currently.
Looking at the a35 I really preferre the old style alloys and Rear lights. But I like the grill and the new tec etc on the face-lift plus the cylinder problem has been resolved . What's your option 👍
Thinking about getting a new a35, I've had a 10 mile test drive but after I didn't know what to think about the ride quality or seat comfort. What's it like to live with long term on our poor British roads.
Reason for it not popping as much as the old one is due to the OPF. Its twice the size of the prefacelift A35. I have had mine removed and it sounds mega
@@leefrancis7416then there’s the insurance. I’m paying £100 a month to insure a 2022 M135i and I’m in my mid 40’s no accidents or convictions and over 10 years no claims! The hot hatch is going to die soon I think cause the demographic they’re aimed at, IE affordable performance that can be used every day is no longer affordable to regular folk.
Exactly, what the hell is in this car for £50k 😂 7 years ago you could get a C63 for £60k and that was the king of the £60-70k segment. Now they’re £80k and that’s not even with options most of the time….absolutely a joke
50k is cheap compared to how much they’re selling this in my country; over 100k! 🤣🤣🤣 The car tax is extremelly high here 😆 We can’t even get a Hyundai Santa Fe with 50k here 😂
I hope they have solved the cylinder head failures they are prone to having on the older A35's. I sold my A35 AMG after bad mercedes customer services on warranty issues. Great car just lost faith.
@@S93.45Only said by someone who has never driven one. Get it serviced on time. Dont thrash it in the bedding in period and its brilliant no problems at all with mine for 2 years i had it from new.
The facelift makes exactly the same bhp the electric motor is there to reduce turbo lag, hence why feels more Torquay because it's more instant because turbo is ready but the same power
Had one on a test drive yesterday and was blown away with the performance with it being entry level performance with Mercedes. All completely useable power. Grips every where and can be as exciting as you want
It's 100% the electric motor that's making it feel different, I have one, Put it in Manual mode and it disables the EQ boost Hybrid, and drives like the old A35... You lose that instant response and turbo spool in Manual Mode... I'm unsure why merc have set it up like this
This is fantastic engine and has potential to have around 400 hp early ( exhaust, map, intercooler and eventuri intake system). Mild hybrid system this is one benefit but also speedshift mct 8-speed from A45 which is crazy fast. Going back to engine. This is not tuned 1-1 A250 engine. They installed much stronger main bearings crankshaft and valves and engine is forged (not so like A45 but they improved very well). They improved this car much comparing to previous model. Im ower of 2023 A35 AMG with aero package in grey mountain color. I will update my feelings when car will have more than 1500 km to turn on Sport+ and check potential. Also I was driving A35 2019 model so I'll compare.
Hello, after the break-in phase, can you now give a report in comparison to your predecessor A35, have the problems with the cylinder head in the older engines been finally resolved during the facelift (Mopf), and will this reinforced 250 engine actually be used by AMG Built because it is missing the engine badge from the AMG fitter, as is standard with every A45 delivered. The new 8-speed gearbox is even faster when changing gears, but what about now with the new 48 volt battery as support, you really notice the additional 14 hp.
@@emiliospowerballer1441 A45s 2023 doesn't have electric turbo like A35 so that's why A35 is even faster on start (I'm not saying about launch control) cause electric engine helps so much to "get up" an engine .
I own a previous version as a daily and I REALLY don't want to give up that centre pad that they've deleted - it's another of those things that occasional drivers may not use but you get used to it and then don't want to lose it.
Interesting video. Three months ago I decided to upgrade my 2017 Mercedes A200 AMG Line Executive and had my heart very much set on the A35 AMG until I sat in one at the dealership, having just test driven a BMW M135i an hour previously. I was very disappointed with the quality of the interior fit & finish of the Mercedes compared to my old W176 model. In the end I went for the BMW - great fun to drive and a nicer interior IMHO ☺
I have it, Unfortuantly it's not louder, what you're hearing is A TON of fake sound effects from the speakers, I had these coded out because they're cringe, and now it's the same as the old model.
I also have the facelift. It is quieter than the pre-facelift as the opf is twice the size on the new ones. I took the opf off and it has made a night and day difference
We thought exactly the same, Jamie! Performance wise, it's all to do with the new mild-hybrid tech. Now we just want the A45 S's more playful all-wheel drive system, please AMG 😆
Hey mate - I have one of these now and it’s just worn in now ( I got it new). I have the benefit of owning previous one as well so can compare to some degree! If you drop gears however you fancy at higher speeds - there is no difference between the two - the difference is defo there lower down! Mix of that battery and gearing with the 8 speed I would say - Golf R gets much the same extra beans with better gearing but this LCI A35 benefits a lot from that battery! :)
i was about to get the BMW M135i but ive changed my mind am getting this one especially the 2023 is more than enough than getting a A45 AMG for me. Thanks for this video
In order to eliminate turbo lag, I have long advocated for the inclusion of a compact hybrid motor in automobiles to offer power and torque while the turbocharger engages.
its a mans dream to have such a vehicle pls stop judging like you are only lamborgini owners , cars like that will become classic in a few years so buy them
I think they only had the Renault engine in the lesser models non AMG's.(i could be wrong) It didn't sound gpod to me though. Also hate the pops and bangs
As others have said, it's the A180 & A200 petrol and diesel that are Renault engines. The A220 & A220d are both mercedes engines. As is the A250 which upon the A35 is based so A35 absolutely has Merc engine thank god! Also the A45/A45s is also Merc engine but these are different and hand built in Germany which the A35 engine is not. Also just to add the likely reason the newest A35 feels faster is due to its mild hybrid system in use that the pre-facelift didn't have so gives way better response immidiately.👍:) I'm actually a BMW driver but owned a lot of mercs including many flavours of A class when they first released the W176 shape 👍
