Sweet, thanks for sharing! Weird how I and others I know had the "just sitting there listening to the album all the way through" first time hearing (in this case) catch for us the foxes. I remember the room, the light, just laying on the floor taking that one in for the first time. Not many albums carry that kind of moment-slowing gravity.

Had this happen with Its All Crazy, at the start of a very long and strange chapter in my life, I’d definitely heard January 1979 by that point, but it was my close friend and new housemate a few weeks after we moved in together in Leeds, and he was like “it’s not much like that song but I feel like you might dig it”. I very much did and still do, though Pale Horses is my favourite album (like ever. Any band). I vividly remember everything about that first listen.

Mike, write a memoir about your time with the band. We need to hear these stories! I’ll record your stories and write it for you and even contribute cover art since your drawing of Aaron is on the cover of my book. Bam, new MWY merch ready for Christmas.

The legacy of mewithoutYou, in my opinion, is everything Mike said in the interview and I’ll add something else. The legacy lives with everyone in the band and mgmt etc. And, it lives with us folks who are here for it. We have an epic community of folks from all over. We play the records. We dissect the mysticism found in many of the lyrics that Mike referred to. We ebb and flow with whatever direction the band wants to go. All in a respectful, artful, and fun way. And we keep the music alive bc we care. Bc the band cares. And maybe we care about this band to a fault! But honestly, we don’t. The art speaks for itself.

Absolutely man, I'm in Maine here, and I have been seeing them since 2001 and I walked from my town of Scarborough to the city of Portland (this round trip took like an actual day) I read the linear notes on the way home and when I got there, I knew every word to every song but hadn't heard them yet lol. Me and my band/friends voraciously ate up a to b life and we were so excited that Brad wood had produced the new mewithoutyou and it delivered. Their records are all on my top 20 but catch for us the foxes was my favorite ever since. I've seen them maybe like eight times, they came to a party at a friends house in Portland and got to meet the guys. I can't believe a single record could change my drug addled viewpoint and got me through rehabs and literally saved my life. I love you Aaron Mike Ricky Greg Chris and every other player that ever was with you guys.
