@@fat277 Oreos employees will directly stock the food instead of handing it to the employees at the store to stock it themselves (they come in with a new shipment of oreos and stock it themselves) this allows them to hide hydrox behind oreos.

Hydrox actually is the original for those who didn’t know. Heres a quick explanation. In the early 1900s 2 brothers wanted to start a company and so they decided on these cookies. They would name it Hydrox. Eventually one of the brothers got kicked out of the company and started his own company i think was named after a flower but that name is oreo. Oreo quickly became more popular as Hydrox sounded like a cleaning product to people so they went to oreo instead. Eventually hydrox went bankrupt but recently reopened in 2016. Lmk if i got anything wrong!
I will tell you a true but sad story. Back in 1908 there was a brand new type of biscuit coming onto shelves in stores in America. Hydrox's actually started as normal cookies/ biscuits then they decided to try something new and that something new was adding creme and another cookie. People started buying Hydrox's quite often now since they had a delicious creme in the middle. The owners of Nabisco tried setting up a meeting with Hydrox workers to request if they could buy the company and Hydrox said "no". Nabisco didn't take "no" as an answer and ended up buying Hydrox. A while later Keloggs tried buying Hydrox from Nabisco but they said "no" also. A new cookie is now introduced on store shelves and the name of this new cookie was "Oreo". Oreo sent some it's own workers to them restock shelves where Oreos would be. Then one of the Oreo workers had a brilliant idea. The guy stopped stocking the shelves and called his boss. The guy also told his boss about the brilliant idea he had. This guys brilliant idea changed everything for Hydrox. One day when a family went into one of their local stores to buy some Hydrox's they couldn't find them. Why was that? It is because that brilliant idea the Oreo employee had was to place the Oreos directly in front of Hydrox's so nobody would find them. The family went to a manager of that store and asked where the Hydrox's were but he only brought them to the shelves where they used to be and he was clueless also. Hydrox's were now not ever being seen in stores and were a delicacy if you found them somewhere in the store. They still are a delicacy if you find one in stores today. The only reason that Oreos are recognized is because Oreo made it so that there employees stock them on the shelf and they tel them to put Oreo in front of hydrox

For those who don't know, hydrox is named like that cuz there were concerns in America of companies adding chalk powder and brick dust to save costs on ingredients. So they named it hydrox as HYDRogen and OXygen make water and water was the purest thing they could think of.
The reason why Oreo took over Hydrox so easily was because of it's name. It literally sounded like a cleaning product/medicine. All they had to do was pick a better name.

The brother that left the company due to health complications came back and made a different business and Hydrox was the first creation. The reason it didn't stick wasn't really the name. It was because the ads were passive aggressive about being THE FIRST SANDWICH COOKIE (which is still on the package funnily enough) while Oreos just talked about being a good tasting cookie.
