Did Project Sekai Kill Project Diva? 

For me personally Project Diva isn‘t dead, it‘s just that Sega kinda lost it‘s inspiration, Diva X was way smaller in comparison to F/F2nd and they kept making new ports for other consoles which is cool, but it did lack features and they removed more than 60% of the entire song list to buy as DLCs I feel like there could maybe be a new game in the future for either the PS5 or Switch console but with Project Sekai and the 40+ million users they make an enormous income and get to use so much more of the producers discography in a way faster pace or even get to use songs from Flower, Gumi, IA and many more My personal final conclusion: I think Diva has a chance to be revived but it should have some bigger changes and also give other Vocaloids more focus again, because the treatment in Diva X was brutal

Personally I like both games but prefer the Diva games. What makes me more worried is that there will probably be a time when the servers for Sekai are shut down :( It makes it difficult for me to truly enjoy Sekai, as all my progress and the game could dissappear later on. With Diva I don't have to worry about that, even after all these years I can still pick up where I left off on the Diva games and play to my hearts content 🎮❤

Tekken 8's director Harada, offered an actually poignant commentary on this aspect from a game dev perspective, albeit about a different game (Killer Instinct): sometimes projects/series are the result of one (or few) key members specifically having the passion and drive to helm the project and convince everyone else its worth investing in! But as soon as those members depart from the project.....it's very hard to pick up the pieces, and can result in certain games going dormant. I'm surprised you didn't mention at all Keiichi Matsunami's departure from SEGA, a key individual who has pretty much been the producer/director for a lot of DIVA games, and how that might've affected the vision for the series going outright. (In general I'm a little confused on how this is a video discussing the "death" of DIVA but pretty much skims out on any actual research regarding the series to assert why this pivot happened) In general, a character-focused rhythm game entrenched in otaku culture-isms like the SEGA ft Hatsune Miku project feels like a natural shoe-in for the current style of "idol rhythm game" mobile games, so to me it was inevitable that a pivot to the mobile game market was going to happen if the arcades and console games were on a decline. Things like tuning, the original characters, and story are frankly irrelevant to that fact.

I got into vocaloid because i found project diva on my cousins ps4 he gave me when i was like 11/12?? and i really enjoed but i didnt have money to buy the rest of the songs for a year or more so i had to buy them later. i hope they will revive project diva because it would be sad if they just leave all the vocaloid games behind and do nothing about them. Pjsk is also a good game since not everyone owns a pc/ps or nintendo and otber stuff like that, the new characters are also cool but it qould be good if they made a real pjsk on pc, my phone is so laggy and i cant really play pjsk a lot when i actually like it i just hope they will do this. The money project diva wants from players is big for people like me who can still be considered a kid so its sad that they are discounting, i have bought project diva on my ps4 and computer, i understand that pjsk makes more money than project diva but, project diva is better imo. i wish could have seen project diva pvs of newer songs but all i can do is hooe for it to revive after pjsk closes servers. sorry if some words dont make sense i dont read my comments before posting

I Found Vocaloid Through Sekai And Tbh I Had More Interests In The Vocaloids Than The OG Characters (Mainly Miku And Luka) Which Caused Me To Want To Play Diva But It's Expensive To Play.... So I Sticked With Sekai (I've Went To Mikuexpo And Have A Whole Bunch Of Prize Figures) And Still I Love The Vocaloids More Than The Characters lol

Project Sekai was the final nail in the coffin for Project Diva to die, probably for a very long time. But for me the problem is Modern day Sega. They are not a good fit for the franchise. They dont even put care into their own mascot. They need to rely on the old for the majority of their games, so they rarely feel brand new. If it were possible, I wish another videogame company would take the project diva/sekai torch. Capcom or Bandai Namco. I'd even say Nintendo, but i do enjoy the series being Multiplatform.
