@@mikelthewug I had all those Notes too and now I am on Note 9 still. I am thinking about upgrading to Note 20 ultra but I have doubts. This camera bump is one of them. But I can see that you're happy about it. So do you recomend?
@@irenakuljic9800 legit just use a case, this really isnt a problem, for all i care the camera could be as big as it wants aslong as its flush when i slap a case on.
@@irenakuljic9800 personally like linus said its more about what features you want more i have the note 20 because one of my big things was I wanted a massive screen because I don't se the point of a tablet anymore so I like it for watching RU-vid. I like the pen for note taking and making reminders for myself kinda like linus I guess and I don't take a lot of pictures so the camera not being the best I can live with and I personally don't understand why linus and anybody cares about the camera because I don't even notice it.
I always get so angry when watching reviews of the Note 20 Ultra with Snapdragon. Here in Europe the Exynos Version of the Phone is just a complete rip-off :/
@Alejandro Fernandez-König 2 minutes on the website: "All prices on the website do not include customs fees and import sales tax of the respective recipient countries." You got lucky.
When linus brought up the iris scanner my heart broke. Ive heard so many reviewers trash it but it is so reliable and fast and so so convenient. Especially in a time like this
I have an A20, was alright at launch, but it bogs itself down if I dont turn it off for a half hour every 2 weeks or so. Not terribly often, but often enough that when it does start kicking in, it's just so unbearably god awful. I think I'll just get an S10+ used for like $300 though, cause that's still a hell of a step from this piece of junk. And now it's clear why so many A20s were offered free just for switching.
I genuinely feel like from 2017-2018 the old affordable flagship phones (Like the jump from the galaxy S7 to the galaxy S8 or the iPhone 8 to the iPhone X) started changing so drastically that it really was extremely interesting. Everything's kinda plateaued recently, i mean don't get me wrong there is some new cool tech but it's all so out of reach for most people it's just not something worth considering anymore.
@@CalTN I had the same problem, turns out if your Note 9 is international, or made for another country besides the US, they wouldn't support it. Ended up buying another refurbished Note 9 and it's worked fine since.
I think they purposefully made the big camera bump for the same reason Apple wants to make all airpods that q-tip look and color: they wanted to make it a distinguisable product. I personally don’t own one, but I don’t think I would mind the camera bump.
Dbrand is amazing. They cost as much as any other case (in my country), but are much better. My first case had a minor production fault, and they immediately sent me a new one. But my country had gotten new customs rules so it could cost me $40 just to get a free replacement. Dbrand said "we dont want to inconvenience you, so if you get a customs invoice we'll just pay it for you". Freaking amazing customer service.
Best case is made by samsung per almost all utube reviewers. It's called the rugged. It looks amazing, has 4 corner raised edges to protect the screen, rubberized grip, extends slightly over the camera edge to protect the lenses and has 2 , yes 2 kickstands.
@@mikkelstormhansen9733 you must not know which case I am talking about. It's not bulky but IS considered the best protective case made. Also, maybe you don't use a stand but I DO ! To each their own.
Yup. This is the worse move by Samsung. They trying to up the price. It diluted the note brand, and i cant see this strategy works for long time. The note user still have brain, we are power user in the first place,
Winnie Id They could have at least made the note20 better than the s20 at least? They took away so many features from s20/s10/note10.. like what could make $500 phones better than note20.
Yes but how many Note owners actually paid full price for the Note 20U. The Note is marketed to a specific user and those who paid attention got a good deal. I didn't pay anywhere near 1K for this phone.
Right? Lol My first reaction was "well those look nearly identical, so what's the point?" Then I remembered my laptop screen doesn't even know what 4K is
Just don't update it though, they don't take time to optimize for older devices. The eventual slugishness of my phone after the recent update made me bite the bullet
I couldn't agree with you more. I also have a 2-year-old Note9 that I'm not giving up. I checked out the Note20 at the mobile store and THAT CAMERA BUMP IS RIDICULOUS. Looking at the specs, ya they're good but not earth-shatteringly better than my Note9. I've never held onto a mobile device for 2 years and looked at taking it into a year 3. Sorry, Samsung but I just wasn't moved. I'm sticking with the Note9 until I see something that really wows me and that isn't the Note20.
It isn't worse than giant bezels, but it is worse than tiny bezels like we see on the Note 9 and other phones just before the mainstream switch to pinholes
@rvidal0001 But being forced to use bluetooth or use a dongle is not great. I agree that whenever you can use bluetooth it is great, but there are situations where having a headphone jack is convenient, like when you don't have bluetooth in your car or you need to use any other device that uses a standard headphone jack, but you don't have your dongle with you.
5:33 and here i am am.. droping my note10+ just ONCE from an aprox. 1m height and now the screen is shattered, touchscreen is inoperable (except when using the S-Pen) and 60% of it (from the crack down) is just black when turned off or white when screen is on.
Hey man, i really like the pen. Patients think i'm cool as shit when i start taking notes on the phone. And the automated things it does when i pull out the pen (immediately start a fresh note if the screen is off!!!) Is so smart, apple would never figure it out
I love my Note 20 Ultra! I've already got so many amazing photos with the camera. I've customized the entire phone with a combo of lawnchair launcher, flow kwgt, swipe to folder, and more! I had the S10+ 1TB edition, and I don't regret at all dropping another $1500 not even 18 months later on this phone. I'll be keeping this one for a while.
For $1k, I could paint my entire car and replace a lot of the parts. For $2k, I could make my car turbo. So yeah, not worth it IMO. I'm still on my note 8.
The Samsung Note line used to be my go to phone. I don't know what went wrong at that company. All I'm sure of is my Note 9 will be my last Samsung phone.
I'm with you, Linus! I'll just stick with my awesome Note 9 until something worthy comes around. I have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage so I have no need for any of these ridiculous "flagship" phones.Well, until something happens to my beloved Note 9. God forbid!
@@johngavin2570 I have a laptop that's basically never been modified from its original hardware. I got it from my father for changing a corrupted hard drive for a solid state hybrid drive. I don't want to modify the RAM because I'm building a new computer that will hopefully replace this one.
@@sandalwood4271 Hey, at least you have a plan! That was my story, my fist hand-me-down was a windows 98 IBM laptop, that was by far obsolete when I received it. I still have it. Good luck on your build!
I gave up on Samsung years ago. Planned obsalecense, overcomplicating their lineup and adding in devices which are missing vital features at a price point to compell you to spend more money on their overpriced high-end devices, lying, no headphone jack, etc.
How, linus, and MANY other people are still using s8, 9s and note 8s and 9s . WHat are you on about? 3 years for a thing you carry everywhere with you?
4:59 Outdoor "legibility". Readability is when an adult is able to form a sound sentence that is "readable" with good grammar and punctuation, as an example. A clear and bright screen can not fix readability issues. Thus, it is "legibility" and not “readability” when you are referring to physical attributes.
My Asian friend had the iris scanner and it would always tell him to open his eyes more. He would complain about how a company run by Asians didn't see that problem coming when they tested it 🤣
I'm asian. Literally had this problem all the time with my Note 9. Now I just instinctively open my eyes like I'm pretending to be caucasian before I try and use the iris scanner lol
Did they sue the Korean company for being racist towards asians? Its just a fact that different ethnic groups have different physical characteristics but if you ever dare point that out people are so quick to label you racist!!! I suppose a phone can get away with it...
This reminds me when there was some Webcam a long time ago that had facial recognition and it had issues with black people in lower lighting and people had a huge outcry. The company had to come out and state that since darker skin absorbs more light, that the image subject needed more light on them to find the face in software.
he probablyu just had smaller eyes than normal......so i'm sure it's just hard for the scanner to see his iris. but yeah they should work on that. that's why stuff like face id is probably better
Lol literally me. It's okay note. The issue linus had with accidentally pressing buttons tho. That got me a lot when I first got the phone as I has an lg g7 thinq before lol.
I run standard HD on my N20 Ultra, there is literally no noticeable difference between resolutions, it only mattered back when Gear VR was a thing. People should run standard HD for better battery as the screen still looks perfect.
@@ahsan.v8 cant agree more. i also have the same issue on my Oneplus7 Pro. i do this all the time. really annoying. Will be my first and last curved screen phone ever.
If you're at all familiar with Dbrand's normal marketing, that ad spot was pretty on par for them. I remember an email I got a few weeks ago advertising their new colors. One of the lines used was "We know two things about you if you own a Note 20. One, you have a lot of money. Two, we want it."
I have the Note 20 ultra 5G, and have a 2070 Super in my current rig with intentions to get the 3080. Ngl id rather take the note as its what I'm using ALL day for a majority of content than to take a WAY cheaper phone for the sake of a 3090 when I'm not a huge streamer who needs a million heavy programs open while still needing to run the game at max fidelity.
@@ryanpushkarna858 No. He seems to like his headphone jack and stylus as that is his main reason for staying with the Note 9 over the Note 20 Ultra. So he'll probably stick to his Note 9 for a while.
@@jimjones3287 It was a review. If it was marketing he wouldn't have said (overall) that the new phones were too expensive for the feature deficient new ones.
That's because Samsung went full iTard a several generations ago. They are copying every one of Apples "stupid" moves. From dropping features, to the camera knotch to out pricing the fan base. Samsung will drop all hardware buttons and the charging port when able does too. Just wait.
@@Erowens98 Bezels are worst and old tech let's not go back there, Apple could shrink it make it a tiny Square whatever even Samsung punch hole is much more palatable than the large uptrusive Apple Notch.

Should you really pay the same price for two different phones? It’s not “if”, it’s a fact that the Exonos is worse than the Snapdragon chip. Why is it acceptable that Samsung’s doing this and has *still* been doing it since what, the note 8? Note 9? It will be misleading to people looking at phone reviews, since most will probably feature the Qualcomm chip. If Google put a lower powered chip in the Pixel 4 in other regions or if Apple put an “A13L” or something chip in a certain region on the same phone the internet would be collectively bashing them. Why are we allowing Samsung to practically get away with false advertising?
What are they falsely advertising? They are advertising excellent performance and that is exactly what you're getting with snapdragon and with exynos. I dont know what you're talking about
Properso :D the performance is not the same... That’s like a computer shipping 3rd Gen Ryzen in America and 10th Gen Intel everywhere else. Sure, both offer “amazing performance” but one is clearly faster
@@propersod2390 the problem is the principle, you sell 2 different product, without saying it explicitly, and at the same price one is no better than a last gen phone and is sold like it is the same you could argue that the difference is minimal, but when you pay more than a grand for a phone, you should expect a nearly perfect product, not shady practice like this one

Yeah because the Nokia phones were smaller, the camera module area looks about the same and if anything it protrudes more in Note 20. Back then every reviewer mentioned how ugly those Nokia camera bumps were. Now most are apparently paid by Samsung since I don't see as many mentions.

And that will be never AMD will not make ARM anytime soon. And even if they do, don't expect their chips to be any better. Currently AMD is ahead of Intel in processors because the processors are made by TSMC (7nm architecture) while Intel makes it's own inhouse 14 nm processor which are comparatively inferior.
Also, you’re going to mock me, but if you really cared about smartphone processor speed, you’d get an iPhone. Apple is miles ahead of any other manufacturer in the ARM space
Note 8 owner as well. I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon, but, if the need arises, I'm eyeing the LG V60. I actually bought my Note 9 after seeing reviews on note 10. I own sony wh-1000xm3, but I tend to use the cable that these wireless headphones comes with, quite often. if my headphones run out of charge and my phone needs some battery juice, I can still enjoy my stuff I wish to hear , thanks to my litle awesome hero of the day - headphone jack. It's still a deal breaker for me. Although I need better camera now, I love my jack . And crappy processor for UK ? An insult . I love the S pen, but it feels like compromising on too much for it.
