Did Shadow Make Mephiles Evil? | Mephiles Month 

I also like to think that Mephiles was technically right with this "Sonic is responsible for the world destruction". If Sonic had never bonded with Elise, she wouldn't have cried when Mephiles killed him. If he let Elise get kidnapped by Eggman I'm sure nothing would happen. Remember: Eggman is willing to cooperate with good guys if there is a greater danger willing to destroy the whole world, like he did in SA1, 2, Heroes, Sonic X and Shadow the Hedgehog. He also wanted to steal sealed Mephiles from Rouge and Shadow, meaning he knew what Mephiles is and probably wanted to resolve the problem by doing research. He was also terrified when Mephiles broke free. In conclusion: Eggman is a true hero of Sonic 06.

... This is actually an interesting idea. What if Shadow didn't seal Mephiles, maybe if he talked to the blob then maybe he can let him live his life. Like a parallel of Maria being the one to influence Shadow. If not for her, he would no doubt been full villain or Black Doom's most loyal soldier. Like it makes sense. MAYBE... Mephiles and Shadow... could have been friends. That's an interesting theory.

I’m more curious with what would have happened if the Scepter of Darkness hadn’t been dropped? What would Eggman have done with Mephiles? He already has the power to travel through time. Would he need to revive Solaris to rule the world? Would Mephiles even obey? Could he take over Elise’s body as Solaris and rule the entirety of Soleanna and the world? There is so much possibility with this one though alone.

Honestly having Mephilis like that, a lost soul that learns what the world is and just messing around with powers he has could be interesting material for an AU, hell maybe even if Mephilis was in this form he could become a bit of a parallel nemesis to Shadow during STH events like how Vision became parallel nemesis to Ultron in MCU, basically thye had to be the same thing, but thye just looked at things from different perspectives and this let to them clashing not only on level of physical combat but also ideologies, or maybe even have an epic battle between Mephilis intentionally becoming Solaris for this encounter, and Dark Gaia... like hell there is so many posibilities

Did Shadow make Mephiles evil? Well, in the game yes. But lets be honest with each other and give some thoughts. Mephiles being trapped in the scepter of darkness for a decade, it's likely how he became mad with thoughts of revenge all because the world already knew what he was before he could do anything (mainly Shadow and Silver). For all we know, Mephiles could've been a innocent curious being who just wanted some answers of life itself and why he was created. Now I'm might be getting a little of topic on the subject on what I'm gonna talk about but hear me out. If you recall my take of Shadow being like Riku from Kingdom Hearts, Mephiles would've been Roxas mixed with Vanitas, who seek answers of the world it lives in and having powers beyond our wildest dreams. Being the dark half of the fiery spirit, he'd likely get some kind of form once Mephiles touched a random shadow, and if there's no animals in sight then he'd likely would take a form of a monk (just imagine a hooded Organization 13 member from Kingdom Hearts but with some glowing colors). Why? Well, for one Kingdom Valley was once the home for the people of Soleanna and two there would've been monks doing some religious stuff where there were some old churches and ruins still standing. Anyway, should he not get imprisoned by Shadow in a alternate timeline, Mephiles would've gone into hiding for a while until the storm has settled with the whole lab incident. Mephiles would've spent time in Kingdom Valley's lost villages, looking into Soleanna's history of Solaris, the phoenix eagle, and wonder why the o mighty bird deformed into a simple flame. You could imagine I'm taking a Xehanort approach here, as Mephiles is the mind of Solaris, when he would discover the answer of Solaris's deformation, the answer comes to him but only to probably recall the day Mephiles and Iblis were both created as 2 separate dark entities with differences. Yes Solaris's spirit flame was experimented on with dark energy, but who knows if it caused some damage to split parts of the original spirit into two separate entities. Remembering that day, Mephiles would then go finding Iblis, only to question it's whereabouts. And since there's a volcano in the future, there's likely a dormant volcano around the land where Iblis remains to gather its strength. Mephiles would've seek Iblis out to see if they would come together, join their spirits into one by recreating Solaris and give it knowledge. It would've been likely as Chaos has some conscience of it's own in Sonic Adventure as it was being more then just some monster bent on anger hate and sadness. The only catch was to learn about the Chaos Emeralds and their whereabouts as 7 exist.

I’ll be calling Mephiles “Null” in this okay? Not much would have happened during the classic era Null probably just wander around maybe noticed the death egg but That would be it, the first sonic adventure game will probably be the point where Null would take notice of the events of perfect chaos And later the events of the ARK and the destruction of the moon because that was a global event, He may learn to be good and help others or become a bad guy depending on the people Null meets, Maybe he’ll finally take action during the events of Sonic Unleashed with all the dark Gaia monsters attacking humans and Corrupting people, He could meet sonic and learns the importance on being a hero, it’s really hard to say but I am very fascinated on this AU and would love to know more, (Thank you for reading.)🙏

I think both the Duke and Eggman had good reasons to be terrified of him even before he went nuts, but yeah I agree that he absorbing Shadow's shadow after being sealed by the same guy for how long made him way worse than he was supposed to be I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the scepter was found by someone like Tails who would be less greedy than Eggman and more focused on turning it into a force for good and if he absorbed the shadow of someone more harmless, MAYBE still getting their bad traits but traits that actualy make more difficult for him to be a villain instead, like for example if the traits made him a depressed/defeatist Mephiles

As much as I like this theory of yours, I don't think Shadow made Mephiles evil, because before Shadow and Silver found and sealed Mephiles and Iblis, the two creatures were already spawning monsters, as shown in the levels where Shadow and Silver were searching for Mephiles and Iblis, and the monsters they spawned were even attacking everyone they saw like they do in the future, so I don't think your theory is true, but I like the idea of it, I still think it's an interesting thought, infact, if your theory is true, do you think there could be an explanation for why Mephiles and Iblis were spawning evil monsters? Because if Shadow did turn Mephiles evil, I would be willing to overlook the plot hole I pointed out if there's an explanation for it.

Someone noted in a review that the people of Soleanna appear to fear Solaris. Personally, that didn't make sense to me given that the Duke experimented on Solaris' physical form or, as you said, another creature that was given that name. My interpretation is that Solaris was previously either benevolent or indifferent to the people of Soleanna, until the experiment. Even without understanding what was happening, I'm sure the creature would try to resist the experiment, which would explain why it failed. I believe that the failed experiment was what traumatized and ultimately corrupted Solaris - the Iblis half was driven insane, if it has any mind of it's own, while Mephiles acted more restrained, but performed his evil deeds intentionally whereas Iblis may have acted out of sheer instinct. This would also explain Mephiles' motivation for wanting to destroy time itself. Aside from Solaris being a four-dimensional being that isn't affected by time the way we are, he is simply messed up in his mind. His very existence is the result of an experiment some would consider cruel or even heretical. And he knows he is not supposed to exist in this form, so naturally he is pissed about being forced into it.

I LOVED THIS! Hardly anyone talks about Mephiles anymore (which is why I love this channel) and none of them have talked about him being good so this was amazing. I also feel like Shadow could relate to him considering that they where both created in a lab and had people trying to kill them as their earliest memories. So basically Mephiles could just have been a poor innocent little baby who became evil because everyone convinced him he was? Dang, now I just feel bad for him. And I was not expecting to ever feel bad for him in my life yet here we are.

4:13 Because Mephiles needs all 7 Chaos Emeralds to fuse, they didn't have that at the time, Mephiles didn't follow Iblis because he needed to find the emeralds to regroup. Iblis didn't follow Mephiles because Iblis doesn't have a mind of it's own, but it does have a will. That's why Iblis even fuses with Mephiles, his spirit drives him in that direction, so maybe it was moving randomly, or also knew conditions for fusing weren't met. Mephiles didn't necessarily do anything wrong, but Shadow went to the past to seal Mephiles because he already knew Mephiles craved destruction. The problem with this is that we don't know how time loops work, where the beginning and end lays. I do think that Mephiles might not have always been evil, but in every loop we see that Shadow sealed Mephiles due to already existing knowledge that he was evil, so we can't really say that Shadow had sealed Mephiles out of unfair spite instead of fear the first time, because we never really see why that happened. Yeah, Mephiles might crave destruction because Shadow sealed him, but that's never stated. Mephiles had a ploy to get revenge on Shadow, that is what Shadow inspired in him. But, Mephiles wanted to destroy independently from revenge, Shadow says that. "You have no desire for revenge, you're only goal is to destroy time until there is nothing left." When you insult a bully, they were bad people before you even met them, you only inspired a desire for a revenge, you don't turn a bully evil because you insulted them, they were evil before that to get you to talk back in the first place, right? I think Mephiles was always evil, or something else caused it. Maybe he was good as Solaris before the chamber meltdown, but I believe the moment the humans seperated them, Mephiles became evil.

I am the only one who felt like that mephiles is verry simulair to like a symbiote like venom from spiderman? Becoming what people around him telling him what he is yet the potential of him becoming something/someone Else if he met with the right people and circumstances.

My theory is that infinite is used as a puppet by someone more powerful than Solaris to create a timeloop that extends from '06-forces but like your theory Mephiles was in fact innocent all along and that sonic and co. actually shot themselves in the foot in the long run

a line through time featured a theory about how the entire timeline thingy in 06 works. basicly, shadow was not required for sealing mephiles and the father by pure chance managed to seal both him and iblis without the help before dying. mephiles is still the evil guy but not this insane psychopath villain. on his quest to become solaris, he eventually accidentially causes the timeloop of shadow and silver going back in time, creating the updated timeline where he IS the dude who wanted shadow to suffer.

Do you think it's Iblis and Mephiles/Null or just Solaris with something else. If it's just Solaris, then you're theory would be kinda right.
