I got to do some test riding for Suzuki in 79 and they were a powerhouse back then! It’s amazing how well Kenny has done on a bike that hasn’t really improved in so many years! Part of the problem is with how the sport is being promoted currently! If it had more exposure, real exposure, then it could be a much more attractive investment! I believe that this sport, if promoted properly would be bigger than any professional sport! Our athletes and personalities are truly second to none! At least Austin gets it, moto isn't mainstream enough to bring in tons of cash in order to pay big salaries. The primary audience for motocross is people who ride, but there aren't enough of us out there. They need to somehow break through with the mainstream audience who has never and probably never will ride a motocross bike. If viewership gets into the millions instead of thousands, then there will be enough ad revenue to take the sport to the next level.

Do people not remember that Suzuki have been struggling for decades.back in the early 00's they almost joined up with kawasaki.i can't remember which year it was, but they produced a bike together,it was basically identical between the two brands,you could swap plastics over and a majority of actual parts would fit too,i don't remember if it ever made it to production (I think it was cancelled last minute) due to Suzuki managing to find the funds to stay separate. It's also the reason that they've only changed cosmetics over the last few years (probably closer to 10+) and had no development on the engine or chassis etc.

@@ppppsssshhhh71 its not even close to being profitable to keep 2 strokes in the line up. The only reason Yamaha keeps making them is because they want to compete in the little bikes market with ktm group. Plus the red tape to keep manufacturing 2 strokes in America cost huge money. In a manufacturing company to produce off road 2 strokes costs money from the epa. A certain amount of vehicles in a line up has to meet certain epa regulations or they get charged a non compliance fee. The personal watercraft market and the outboard market battled with that in the 2000s.thats why they came out with such horrible fuel injected models rushing to be compliant. It happened because they got out-marketed by every other brand. It was the best bike from ‘07-‘14. Suzuki had a ridiculous Amateur Program, had to pay Chad, RC, Stew, and Ryan a lot of money which led them down the road of using subpar marketing. Coca-Cola has been funding Kawasaki teams forever, and when Suzuki split off from KHI back at the end of ‘06 they lost that budget. Bobby was spending big dough on a lot of Amateur kids too. There was no way that team could function with the amount of money on the A/P board. It didn’t matter how good the bike was or who was riding it, people just didn’t buy enough Suzuki product. The Motocross team had been siphoning money from other divisions of the Corporation (GP, Rally, Auto) just to stay afloat for years. The guys who were on that boat literally used the entire company as a lifeboat and let the ship sink knowing it wouldn’t be a big enough impact to damage the rest of the company. It’s real simple

Simply put manufacturers need to pay more. They also need to have more rides available and for people that say that they don’t have enough money just simply Google some of the companies. Kawasaki heavy industries company only needs to sell one ship and probably pays for Moto for the next 8 to 10 years. Honda only needs to sell a handful of private jets that they built, Yamaha only needs to sell 50,000 pianos… they make way more in other industries than Moto. Whenever you see these companies invest into the sport you see the direct outcome. Take Yamaha for example, biggest 250 team, heavily invested in the amateur program, and as of late been the most dominant. More is better.

Say they need to sell 90 million $ to make 9m on average 10k per bike that’s only 9000 bikes, I wonder if we can find the average # of bikes sold per year…. I bet in the USA alone it’s more than 9000

Moto is mainstream enough but Feld and Monster are taking all the money. Look at the money RJ, Ward, Hannah, Stanton, JMB were making. Now the riders are making peanuts on a 100xmore dangerous track and bike. This shit doesn't addup.

Their financial struggles have nothing… I mean NOTHING to do with paying moto bonuses. Also, to make $9,000,000 they’d have to sell less than 1,000 RMZ-450s. Which they do.

Ken’s Suzuki bike is just the problem why nobody wants a Suzuki. we all know it’s expensive. I’m not talking about the money it’s the shock what causes a Suzuki a problem and nobody wants it.
@devinshook1292

What are you even trying to say? If you were referring to his shock blowing apart I can guarantee you that’s not what is coming on production bikes and shouldn’t drive your decision one way or another
@jeffenglish9132
@jeffenglish9132 3 месяца назад
I hope you don’t think that they give Ken a totally modded out SX bike and keep the suspension stock? He’ll no😂. There is probably very little stock Suzuki parts and He’s probably got around $12k+ worth of suspension work on that bike. Like all things mechanical, they fail for whatever reason. Selling dirtbikes is like a popularity contest in marketing which Suzuki has pulled out of.

Want to talk to someone about bankrupting a team by bonus? Talk to Mat Mladin and his AMA Superbike domination....Also, wouldn't sponsors pay teams bonus for wins? The numbers should have been Nett zero out of pocket for the manufacturer, but if the sponsors didn't pay their end of the deal the manufacturer/team would pick up the bill of course. Suzuki didnt pull out because they were going broke, they pulled out because they are a car company who makes motorcycles. Its not their core business. They would sell more cars in India than recreational bikes globally (excluding scooters/step thrus etc).

I disagree totally. It was not just 450's, it was all Suzuki bikes and products. I am not sure about you guys, but during that time of those three riders everyone had a Suzuki of all models and such. You could be right about the money, but they did sell the sh## out of bikes during this time.

That's complete nonsense. If they had trouble paying those bonuses then why would they go sink tens of millions on MotoGP after those wins. They've always been the smallest Japanese manufacturer and them pulling their cars out of the US market was the beginning of their real troubles.

Austin just sounds salty counting other peoples money sitting on the side lines, saying yeah they didn't make that much and and don't make anywhere near it now but jet and hunter have spent as much on cars as Austin has made in the past 5 years. Bruh they were flying private jets to practice days and driving lambos. Those guys were at the peak with advertising yeah maybe their bike deal wasn't 10 mill but the rest of it added up.

I find it ironic with Austin's political stance online that he wears a Rage Against the Machine shirt. Obviously he's missed the message of the music. Tom and Zach would probably buy this shirt back off of him so he doesn't represent their band.

You guys obviously didnt attend math at school 😂 Suzuki would easily sell 2000 bikes a year in the US back in the early 2000's... easy... Do the math. Unit price back then was approximately 8000/8500 bucks. $8000 x 2000 = $16,000,000. Lets say, unit price as low as $6500 x 2000 = $13,000,000. If you have a quick google search you will see that Zuk sold over 2000 bikes during each of those years. Nearly 2000 in California alone, each year. They sold plenty of units to pay for bonuses 😂

This $Green infusion ‘possibly’ brings a major manufacturer near bankruptcy. So here we are..still kick’n bikes👎 All of a sudden..we hear ‘maybe’ they were paid too much🙄Which is it?
