I was thinking, I suppose his pride blinded him to the truth of his actions regarding Christ's crucifixion. It could be called "self-will run riot" and if he had set aside his ego and pondered the possible consequences, he might have done otherwise. But I don't know if the devil is capable of honest reflection. No. I really doubt it. And what Father said, I also believe: that he knew immediately after the fact. Satan always paints himself into a corner.
The devil seems pretty short sighted in general. His pride and selfishness blinds him from being any different. Proof is in the decision to rebel against God in the first place with the terrible consequence that followed.
Would Fr. Gruner be able to speak a bit more clearly and slowly please? How he presents his answers are very insightful although I admit missing some of the words. But great job and thank you for these videos.

The coming of Our Lord, and some hints about his service to the world, were kept inside parables and verbal sketches of prophets of the Old Testament. Like pearls inside the shells. People could read the scripture, and ponder upon it, but the real meaning of many of those parables and brief sketches was understood only after Our Lord’s coming, and after his death on the cross. And then after it again. There was no chance anyone could assemble all those bits and pieces together in advance, with the power of intellect alone and without God’s grace. Devil definitely could not, despite his superior intellect because the task was same as guessing the exact sequence of numbers to win the next national lottery. It is impossible, as no one can reason the sequence of numbers based on previous week’s numbers. Thus we have an interesting case of openly shared prophecies but with no explanation beside them. Those were all truths, but told with a cipher. That means anyone could read them, but no one could decipher them without God’s grace. And also before there was enough of accomplished prophecies to assemble the whole mosaic in retrospect. Even three years before Our Lord’s death on the cross, no one (apart from a few chosen ones by God’s grace) could even presume he was the Saviour. Not even one week before it, in the early morning of palm Sunday. No one in the assembly could have guessed what is exactly going on, for majority of old prophecies were to be fulfilled in the course of that week alone. Not even the apostles could know it all. Judas, during that last week, still held hopes Our Lord will perform some political coup to overthrow Romans, and then after Our Lord’s actions in the temple, he started to lose all hopes. St John, present at all moments during the crucifixion by God's grace, was able to later understand the nuances of old prophecies regarding Our Lord's death as an overture to resurrection. Without him there to witness the fulfilment of last of prophecies, even today we would have no clear picture who really was that Yeshua from Nazareth.
Fr Gruner’s apostolate is equally important as that of Archbishop Sheen. And Archbishop Sheen we all saw in the videos in the 1950s/60s was much younger than Fr Gruner now. Age takes its toll.
He did not know Jesus was GOD. proof is in the temptation in the desert of our lord. Satan knows not to tempt GOD and certainly would not have if he truly knew Jesus was God.
