We applaud the dodgers for being title contenders year in and year out while still maintaining a top 5 farm system but we complain when they actually try using that system. Vargas outman miller stone all will play big roles this season.
Strictly in terms of offense i see Vargas trying to replace turner. Trea had a 128 wrc last yr. Vargas projections have him around 115. Outman replaces Cody’s offense and it’s not a big leap to say outman will out produce Cody’s 83 wrc. Defense might be an issue as lux at ss and Vargas at 2b is not nearly as good as trea at ss and lux at 2b.
The Dodgers system is obviously stacked and full of talent. I think my bigger point is that jump is always big for almost every single player. I don't think it's fair to put a bunch of pressure on guys to figure it out right away. It takes time. I imagine the dodgers will be active in the trade market this year.
I agree that the jump is big and relying on too many young guys is risky however teams like the dodgers and Braves do a good job with mixing in young guys with the veteran roster. I think the dodgers main competition made big splashes (Mets and padres) which made the dodgers quiet off season very loud to some folk. If you believe in the dodgers player development system then the dodgers will be fine this season.
Lol as soon as that mf came to LA his displeasure was bold, no surprise he wasn't offered an extension. I was thinking they'd fill in the hole in the meantime with a Jose Iglesias who doesn't have trea power but makes contact and hits for average as much as trea does and thered be no loss in defensive capabilities.
