after the update i cant connect this watch to my huawei p20 pro, there is no problem if i wanna connet to a galaxy s7 or s22Ultra. Why is this? Before update i have no connections problems....
Just got my Gen6 today. I'm updating the system before I get accustomed to anything so I won't be disappointed. Time will tell, thanks for your videos.
Got this watch just before Christmas for 179 and been very happy with it. No problems with connections or other functions. Can recommend atleast if you can get it for under 200.
I just read they ok'ed Google to Fossil Gen 6, I plan to do the update to the software, It's been a long time waiting, I did not update and kept the old software, but I will if I hear from you... thanks your videos been helpful.
I have the gen 6 wellness edition. I like it a lot. It fixed some bugs. Not all but most of them. Hopefully, the Google Assistant arrives soon. Thanks for the video.
So around July they updated fossil Gen 6 and I've been using Google Assistant , I've been pretty happy just letting you know.. I hope you woll do an updated video covering this issues thanks
Well, I like my Gen 6 VERY MUCH! I suffered with several watches before and was about to give up on smartwatches. I bought the Fossil Sport a few years ago after seeing several videos saying to buy it instead of the Gen 5 at the time. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THAT SPORT! It only lasted 4hours MANY days! I tried EVERYTHING! Last summer I contacted Fossil to complain. They told me to send it and they will fix it free of charge. They sent it back and I noticed somethings that were concerning, and the watch was still BAD. They told me to send it back and they will have another go. They had it for about a week and then told me that they'd give me $300 to put towards another watch since they could not fix the sport. I ordered the Gen 6. It was just under $300. I LOVE THIS THING! I didn't know about the fast charge. BONUS!!! All the other watches took hours to charge, and the batteries never lasted past 6pm. I still have to charge this everyday, but it's fully charged in a few mins! Until I found this vid, I didn't know there was a problem since the Wear 3 update. Wear 2.x sucked bad! It looked like something a highschool kid created in his spare time. It wasn't sophisticated like say the Apple Watch software. Now it's grown up and fancy and snappy.
@@pcofranc It's still holding up fairly well. I'm very happy with battery life. Says I'm UpTo date but doesn't say 3.5 🤔. 2 annoying things, which I think is more a Wear OS issue, but I could be wrong. Several times a day the informer is complaining that the watch and phone aren't connected. I try it though and all is good. 🤔 Sometimes the dictation doesn't work. The dreaded "Oh no! Google cannot be reached now" I think that's a wear OS issue though, cause all 4 models of wear watches I've had has had this issue. This is a hassle because I just want to dictate a truly to messages, but I have to type some times. If course Google hasn't updated their wearOS tech pages. Still some advise posted for years for this ... "Factory reset your watch". REALLY Google?! 😡 C'MON!!!
hi how is it performing now? like easy connect to polar straps, any health related data issues or any problem that I can get your guidance that would help me to purchase or reject it?@@kojam1
I found the quality control at fossil to be a bit lacking, so there are some bad ones that make it out of the factory. If you're still within the one year warranty. I would contact fossil.
😒 all tbis last update gave me was bluetooth problems now i keep disconecting for no reason! That sucs because it keeps turning wifi on and destroing battery life!
A lot of the bug fixes have been updated so they watch functions a little bit more reliably now, but still lacks a lot of the wear OS features found in other watches. I don't think that's going to get fixed anytime soon unfortunately. I've been rocking the pixel watch and now Pixel watch 2 since the wear OS3 update and I really haven't wanted to go back to the fossil with its issues
@@HeathKube it still doesn't have the Google assistant, but most of the other features seem to be worked out to pretty well match the capability it had under the old OS. Fossil has made it clear that they will be continuing to work to improve the function of the watch
If you're not worried about the fitness settings transmitting to the phone immediately and are willing to wait for the Google Assistant to return via later. Updates, the deals on the Gen 6 right now are pretty hard to pass up
Battery life is horrible since I did the update on the fossil Gen 6 to the OS 3. It Won't hold a charge for even a full day. It was much better before I did the update. Wish I could go back to the OS 2. Any suggestions?
Unfortunately not much you can do. Either wait for a future update to come out. That will hopefully fix these issues or count it as a loss and invest in a different smartwatch
There's one thing you can do , there is 4 different battery mode settings on the device unfortunately you will limit your capability but in the mean time could help 👍
Hey there, just wanted to know whether all these problems that the wear OS 3 gave the watch is all fixed. It's been a while since this video came out and I was wondering whether they fixed them because I was thinking of getting one.
Bought this watch in Dec '22. In Dec '23 an update was pushed and the watch turned into a brick. TUrn it on and it shuts off in under 2 mins. Put it on the charge and reset it as instructed by Fossil Support. The watch wont even turn on. Fossil says its out of warranty so you have to pay to fix. Other blogs indicate the fix is over $100.00. Do not trust this watch or Fossil.
Hi Chris, I have an April 2023 version of the women’s Gen 6 Rose Gold watch running OS3. I met someone yesterday who had the older model - her apps scroll in a curved style with colored icons. Mine scroll straight just like the settings menu. Also, in Wellness, the Heart Rate is flatlined for the live screen and reads 000, even though it is tracking heart rate continuously and is also recording in Google Fit. When I am on the live screen, and swipe down to see previous readings, it flickers 5 or 6 times and goes back to the Wellness screen. As you have used both Wear OS 2 and 3 - is the curved app menu unique to OS2 and does the live heart rate monitor just not work in OS3 in its present glitchy form?
The curved menus were definitely a 2.0 style, or sometimes present on some of the Samsung watches. The live heart rate has been a glitch since the swap to 3.0, introduce some fixes that seem to have worked for some people but not across the board
@@4KMotoring Hey Chris, thanks for getting back. Fossil got back to me immediately and after a reset, the live heart rate is working perfectly. I still prefer the curved menu, so hopefully it will come back. Thanks for letting me know it wasn't an option - one Gen 6 owner told me it was a settings option, so I'll stop looking for the option.
At this point I've all but abandoned the Gen 6 in favor of the Pixel Watch. I believe the new software has more to blame than the fossil group does, but I just can't go on using this watch with the diminished capacity since the upgrade
My fossil gen 6 do not receive incoming call. It received the first two call, but later on, it doesn't receive incoming call anymore, but still i can make call from my watch.. There's no problem with making calls, receving messages, whatsapp messages, notification and all that.. Can you please help me
Wear OS 2 works well with iPhone but no Google Pay for iOS in Wear OS 3 is a known issue. Do you have any insight about when/if it will be resolved in a future update?
@@4KMotoring Ugh! I’d think that making it 100% compatible would give it a competitive edge. Removing compatibility means that millions of potential buyers will no longer consider it.
I've tried every suggeston I could find to get the location to work on my Gen 6, and it just won't do it. So, I can't get weather reports or google maps to work. I've allowed all permissions on watch and phone; I've made sure I have location enabled on the watch and phone and still can't get it to work. I've also unpaired and then repaired watch and phone and that didn't work either. I have no idea what to try next, I'm out of ideas. Any of you folks have any suggestions? If you do, I'd appreciate some help here. Thanks.
I literally can't use it anymore. I have the gen 6 and it stopped showing notifications when I accidentally upgraded to wear os 3 now I cant even pair it with my phone so the watch doesn't turn on.
Unfortunately this may be a better question for Fossil Support, but they'll probably tell you to make sure and available updates have been applied, then reset the watch if still giving you issues
@@ronda33 I would snag one of the Fossil Gen 6 watches while they're on sale, I have no doubts the updates will soon come to restore their full functionality
@@4KMotoring Why would that be a question for Google or Fossil. Take at look on your wrist and check the language settings of your watch and see if that language is available. This is not rocket science!
Just updated to the new update and it removed the function to remap the top button, anyone know how to remap it. Currently it only gives me the option to see previous apps or map it to use Alexa
@@subhendumaity7711 thing that worked for me - 1. Reset the watch again 2. Got spare iphone 3. Installed fosil and google app 4. Try to connect and configure the watch with iphone. Seems to pick up and work now. It seems like it failed to connect to the same phone it was connected to after the update. I was using an Android phone and it failed multiple times, so I had to use an iphone. Later when it came back to life i was able to connect back to my Android phone as well.
Uninstall the fossil app, clear all the app data from before then restart the phone and reinstall fossil watch app again. Same thing happened, watch is counting steps and heart rate and oxygen sensor is working manually, but everything is not sync to the fossil app. Only my fossil hybrid watch is working good with this fossil watch app. Definitely something is not working. Do not update to this new wear os 3 until they fixed this .
My Fossil 6 gen on wear os 2.38 only connects to the wear os app. In the Fossil application there is information that from the 5th gen model they will not connect to the Fossil application
Reading through the fossil update, they recommend setting up the watch on a different phone to download the update and then you should be able to go back to your original phone
I don't think this would be a worthwhile switch as the hardware is nearly identical. Until the Ticwatch becomes no longer usable, I would stay with it. If you want WearOS3 and future updates, look at the Pixel Watch or something from Samsung
@@4KMotoring thanks, and 'more' what I thought too, it was only, being able to return it to amazon would not cost me anything the change, but then I think I would regret it ..... Decision a bit hard, but I think I'll do as you say. Good evening.
