In this video we talk about how well the Harbor Freight Badland budget recovery gear held up over the last couple years. I am still using the same soft shackle today as the one i used in the last video. So yes i would recommend this recovery gear! I have used these with the Jeep Tj, with the Montero and now with the S10.

Appreciate the update. The off-roading community has helped the mfg's step up their product quality at the risk to the community with real world infield proof testing. And guys like you are helping us select the gear that we depend on. Thanks.

Get back on your TJ!!!! Get some axles under it again, missing that content both you and Nate!

@@MuddyBeards4X4 Fair enough, I just finished the full width axle swap and complete build in my 99TJ. Now collecting parts for the LS swap while I enjoy the new gears, OX lockers and added width. My flat fender will be a Juggy with one tons, so keeping the TJ "all stock" bahahaha.

Killer update, I haven't moved to the soft shackles yet but I need to step up my game and go fart 'I meant purchase a couple'. LOL
@MuddyBeards4X4
@MuddyBeards4X4 4 месяца назад
Haha, I only soft shackles unless I have too, they are so much lighter easier to use and safer. But sometimes you need a hard shackle.

You offroad for a living... if it lasted two years and counting for you I have no doubt it would last a Decade or for most of us and for the price I'd say you can't really beat it. Thanks for the update!

hi! Thank you very much for your videos, it's really interesting and usefull to watch these. But i can't agree with you about the D-ring (steel shackle): what is the sense to use soft shackle if you still using the steel shackle? As less steel - as more safety. I have similar rings (recovery points) as you. I just used the rotary tool (e.x. Dremel 3000) and round the shard ends. Sorry for my English, some phrases could sound weird:) English is not my native language. I made a lot of recoveries for last two year and it works fine.

@@MuddyBeards4X4made in US not some Chinese knockoff, kind of screwed on winches because 99% of them are made in China. Overall I find made in US and Canada to be a better quality product that actually has past testing and I’m not so cheap that a few extra dollars are going to hurt me.

My HF recovery gear still works great after years driving my Land Cruiser and Tundra. Probably because I seldom need it, unlike Chevy, Ford and jeep owners. In fact, your best recovery gear is to make sure someone in the pack is driving a Toyota.
