Did not work for moles. They just ran around it and all my flowers. However, I think the snakes do not like it. I only bought one. Plan to buy others. We live close to two ponds. Soooo, one in each garden and at the outside faucets would not be out of the question. Hoping this is true and not me just assuming because I haven't seen one means it is working. Good luck. Excited to see your results!
They went from $33.99 on Amazon the day this video was posted to $45.99 this morning when I was going to order them. So not happening because I need 3 packs.
plant a wine bottle but leave the long neck out of the ground then put one of the kids whirlygigs on a stick in it. It echoes inside the bottle underground voles and such can’t take and they move on. The whirligig is so you see the neck and don’t hit it with the lawnmower lol. It really works
i've never heard that one. Gonna have to give it a try. First I need to drink some wine. Hope it work cause I've got lots of voles and need an excuse to drink more wine.
Oh no guys I had that issue too. They get use to it and it's just like music to their ears after a few weeks. You need to get sticky traps and bait them with juicy gum and basil leaves. I know it sounds weird but it works. Az was full of rodents this last year it was horrible. I replaced my entire garden twice buying started before I went to some older farmers for help.
LOL! Wednesday night I transplanted a squash and a zucchini into an unused bed for my landlady. Thursday morning there was a curious "rose" of squash leave at the base of what used to be the squash plant where the gopher pulled the whole plant down his hole, but the leaves were too big to follow. Friday morning the entire zucchini plant was gone, and a small hill of dirt was all that was left! He figured out how to get those leaves through. That gopher is thinking, "At last, Uber Eats is in my neighborhood!"
@StiversHomestead Good to hear that these worked. I have had a vole explosion in my garden raised beds. The castor oil granules have helped, but I think they are breeding and the numbers have quadrupled. They don't really come out of the ground. Two years later, are you still happy with these ultrasonic sticks?
My best friend used sound emitting repellents in the 200 year old farmhouse she rented and she loved them! She also used electric ones outdoors as well she had skunks, ground squirrels, rats, mice, and who knows what?? It worked well enough for her to have a huge garden and most of her garden thrived!
I have these around our main area. We are building on and regenerating a 20 acre block that is 100% thick bush in Qld Australia, where there are dangerous snakes. I've been here over a year with these in the ground and haven't seen one snake on my property. But I have seen a red belly black snake on the road near our property. Thanks for sharing this I was wondering if others had the same results because there was a lot of negative reviews on this product. I'm absolutely convinced now.
Good luck and so happy it worked for you. We had massive gopher issues in our garden in Southern CA, the vibration sticks didn't help much. I lined some beds with metal cloth, which was great, but not workable everywhere, and we trapped them. I also recruited teen boys from church to drop any snakes (not rattlesnakes, haha) down the holes. That worked the best.
I’ve only been subbed since the butthead tried to steal the animals... but even I know you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull on Superman’s cape and you don’t mess with Zach’s Xenia!
I watched your video thinking I don’t have much use for these bc I don’t have rodent problems. Did some chores inside then went to the garden outside picking weeds. I have raised beds so not much. As I was pulling weeds a dead gum mouse jumped out of the dirt straight at me. It was the scariest thing ever. Ugh. Ordering these ASAP. Thanks for sharing! 🤣🤦🏻♀️
In our area (7a) we have cut worms in the ground that will cut a young tomato plant off at the ground. To prevent this I place a small stick beside the plant. Some people wrap foil around the base of the plant. Just something so the cut worm can’t encircled the plant at the top of the soil.
I put castor bean plants in the corners of my yard. That cleared my issue with our voles, moles, and gophers. Castro bean plants are beautiful but careful with them because they are poisonous.🇺🇸
Zach don’t let your guard down. I used those years ago and after awhile I think they developed a tolerance to it because the mole tunnels were popping up out of the ground next to the sonic spike. I have mole issues though so not sure how much difference there is in response to the stake.
You're right. They not only grow tolerant of it, but they move around from one crop to the next. You end up spending a fortune trying to outwit them. From one night to the next morning, you're in tears again.
Just ordered two packs ! Thank you for the trial, I have a huge mole issue in my yard. This spring I put in a cottage garden and new zinnia beds and of course I see the mole runs 🙁. So excited to get these in and send them on their way.
Don't forget, your washed eggshells crushed, are perfect to place around the bases of your tomato plants to protect them ... added calcium as well. Cheers! Awesome Gardening!
I just staked up my tomatoes today. My husband yells, "Hey, come look at this!" One of the stakes was violently rocking back and forth and eventually almost fell over! I went over there to see, and perhaps my footsteps made it go still. If I could have figured where the little sucker was, I would have stabbed it with the stake. These things seem to be the size of guinea pigs for as much dirt they have heaved up in my yard! We have armadillos too here in West Central Missouri. They can tear up a yard too!
Great information! I have a terrible problem with moles, voles, mice, chipmunks, etc. Well, something is digging holes all over my gardens and yard. I am going to give these a try. Thanks, Zach!
Zach, I'm recommending you get a gardening auger to dig down in the ground! I can't tell you how happy that THOSE solar in-ground pest deterants are doing their job for you guys 🎉🎉👍 Now about the gardening auger I was talking about, there's another RU-vid presenter called Garden Answer. They live here in Oregon, where I'm at, but I'm on the west side of the state and they are within 5 minutes of being in Idaho. Anyway they do a lot of planting and they have different size augers that they attach to a cordless drill and absolutely go to town with drilling the holes they need to plant their things and so I am recommending you watch Garden answer and hopefully you can get something to help you dig as many holes as you could possibly need!
Ummm , I have the vibration things too. I had mine push it up 🤦🏼♀️ Also mine dig holes right under my garlic and pushed up and layers over 6 🤬 I pray they work for y’all. We’ve tried everything up to sitting and waiting with a gun and when we see the dirt moving, we shoot.
Here in the central valley, CA we have gophers, rabbits, and squirrels. I've tried simular repellers,, gopher hawks and they did not work. Glad it worked for you.
I love the fact that y’all vlog and live in Kentucky! As a fellow Kentuckian I love supporting local channels! Feels like I’m talking to famous folks!! Sounds like above ground gardening boxes may be needed?
Awesome! One year I had planted a swath of about 200 tulips. Next spring they would be up, ready to bloom, and then just fall over. A vole had come through & eaten all the bulbs one by one. I was devastated and angry.
Not that I speaking from experience or anything 🤣🤣 but take a picture of where you put these things. I may or may not be able to find the ones I put in my landscape 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad it work for y'all my son build a greenhouse I helped a little bit I'm disabled and I done something new I made wicking buckets and planning my tomatoes and three squash and peppers plants and they are doing perfect everything's doing good out of those wicking buckets and I planted my cucumbers and Rich dirt on top of the ground the working out real good thank goodness I got a good son to help me out on most of it but guess what I on the 19th of May 2021 I broke my left leg in two places now I can't get out there attend to to them like I need to
2 things they work I had a mole problem bad so first I got rid of my grub worms with a organic pesticide mixed with cayenne pepper only one tx is all, then and they have never in 8 yrs later been back , is a metal windmill the blades are 8 inches long so it is not huge that is 10 foot tall above ground and 4 ft in ground placed in the center raised bed that has covered 5000 plus square feet, Amazon has them I think they are called mole repellent windmill it is quite and wind driven and the below ground section has a vibration design Zach this works so well good luck
I had that vole problem...very discouraging when yu go out and everything is chewed down to the root ...I seen those solar things ...I will try them out .Thanks ☺
Good thing you shared... I’m buying some for the same reasons... I have some low bed that got hit hard last year with the watermelon bed and didn’t plant none this year... only growing Kajari melons this year in height bed with trellis 💚🌱💚
My cat sits over the tunnel and digs down then follows the mole as it moves. So funny to watch his patience as he waits. I see the wee ones are in the pool.. man I'd be in there joining them for the fun😀
We had 2 of those gadgets. They worked ... but they didn't. The moles/voles/whatever stayed away but the gadgets only last about one season. Another issue was that, when our son was taking care of things, he couldn't figure out why he was hearing a strange sound in the garden.
Ariel from ‘Fy Nith’ puts a strong mesh material under about 8” of top soil and lines the beds with cinder blocks. Keeps gophers and those digging underground critters away. She has recently moved her garden to a new site and she transferred everything. You cd maybe give her a viewing? You cd consider that for next year .
Awesome to know those work. I've seen a few mole/vole holes this year in my yard. I may have to try that. They weren't a problem before because I could let my cats out. However, some not so respectful/nice people moved in next door and they're not nice to cats. So now my poor babies are housebound all year and the little garden nuisances have free roam.
@@dorothyculbertson5640 Great idea! Never thought of that. There are strays that wonder through from time to time. They're just not around here consistent enough and many have come up missing that last couple/few months.
Myomorpha hell! Side note for anyone unable to purchase the solar suggestions, you can plant Jicama and Horseradish in and around your gardens, and eliminate the problem. Perfect pest control... Of all kinds.
😀 Bravo! The garden rows are simply stunning! Amazing work, y'all! SO proud of you guys! We thought of those sonic things and hoped you might try them. Now we know they work! Thanks! 🎉🏆💗
I ordered these solar repellents and just got them in the ground literally a few minutes ago. I'm praying they work because these little vermin are driving me mad.
We have been fighting moles digging under all my flower beds. They almost killed 2 of my huge blueberry bushes by tunneling under and exposing the roots to air underground which will kill any plant. And if that's not bad enough. Then the voles will go and use the moles tunnels and eat the roots of all your plants and bulbs. Its like an underground buffet. Then add to that the chipmunk/ground squirrels that look like chipmunks. And they make tunnels and dens underground. Then come up and eat your berries. GRRRRR I hate all of them. Almost 2 years ago we adopted 3 older cats from the shelter and that has cleared out all the chipmunk type critters. And they have caught a couple of moles and a bunch of voles. Yeah! You go kitties! Those underground pest critters can obliterate your whole garden. I have lived here on our homestead for 28 years now. When we had outside cats we didn't have those pest problems including mice and rats. But as our old outside cats died off from old age. We didn't have any for a couple years and we were overrun. Got the new cats. Now not so much. Kitties = no pests. All natural pest control.
My cousin sayes those work well I ordered some my self gophers are eating from my salad bar of flowers & corn🤭 I tried traps garlic cats water can't wait til my solar sonic gets here!! They hate daffodils you can add them between annual perineiuls
what about juicy fruit gum down the holes? I think Daniel Arms uses with great results. Ya have alot of new things going on, I hope the gardens prosper!
I would use a big concrete drill bit to drill the holes then those stakes will go in so easy. ZAC WHAT ABOUT THE POTATOE BEDS??? I would stake rose too.. THANKS FOR SHARING from West Central Indiana farmland ✝️🇺🇸💕🚜
Milky spore works great also. You have to put that down once every 10 years. It's kind of expensive, but not when you figure in it works for 10 years. Also kills out Japanese Beetles.
I just threw 4 of those away, they didn't work. I have moles and voles, I got ride of my pesky mole by giving it a small piece of Juicy Fruit Gum, I am assuming he is dead from eating it. Have not had a problem for 2 years. I also tried the kill traps, those didn't work either, but it could of been how I position it over the hole. I can home one day from work to find my pepper plant sinking in the mole hole, it was looking really good until all I could see is the top of the plant, it went from 10 inches tall to 2 inches over night. Good luck
That's why u plant more than u think u need.. hahahaha..... it's a challenge, but worth it Assume! Going to get me some as well. Thank u for the review!
