Iron Giant reference!!! AWESOME!! Alternate ending: (The guards stop Lex Luthor from leaving) Amanda Walker: Hold him, men. Make sure he stays here like a good soldier.
They should have left a counter virus in the bots to screw with brainiac’s systems “independence day” style, an acknowledgment that they’re using his tech as a crutch while putting him in a goddamned wheelchair.
@@weirdalexander8193 Would that have even done much? Given how advanced the tech on the other side is, I feel like that's something that could be fixed with minimal effort on their end.
Let's be real here wallers done worse this was business as usual here she didn't even get desperate til the problem was out of her control completely and she couldn't stop it she would've done worse if she could
@@Demaad Oooo, tv series you meant, ok then yeah....cuz for some reason they almost never show Amanda as the pure control freak she is in the comics, usually she's more gray....like in jla series or the cartoon movie with batman and superman
@@ozmasterofmasks5838note: she only cares about main usa territory and it’s government, not lesser known areas tied to USA and outside of USA territory. That’s how she is pretty much.
This scene proves that Lex Luthor doesn't care about humanity at all. The only reason he joined Task Force X, was to gain fortune and fame as "the protector of Earth" and to get revenge on Superman for making him lose his job.
@@grzegorzmizerski4187 I think it's more complex than this.....this lex has spent his whole life begging to be aknowledged and listened but having to deal with Ivo for years made him as bitter and cold as he was. At this point he's ready to do anything for respect and to be listened. Also I think he truly believes earth has to be protected, though in a very messed up way, he just ain't ready to die for the cause like others
Superman in All Star said better: "You could have saved the world years ago if it mattered to you, Luthor". Lex may claim he wants to protect humanity and be their savior, but in a reality all he wants is the credit and fame. Instead of connecting with people and being part of humanity he claim to love, he puts himself above others and use others as tools for his selfish goals or scapegoats for him to lash out his frustrations, with superman being the biggest exemple of the latter. This is the contrast between Lex and Clark: While one is a man who wants to be a god, the other is a "god" (alien) who just wanted to help people and be accept
To be fair to Luthor running away, it's not like he can do anything. This isn't super genius Luthor with a vast arsenal of tech, a power suit and other nonsense. He's just a 20 something tech genius hired to build robots, which he did and now he can't control them anymore. The fault is strictly with Waller. She let her paranoia and ego get the better of her and got Superman almost killed when they had the chance to end things quickly, so if she wants to get herself killed cleaning the mess she made fine.
OH MY GOD YES... thank you... I was concerned that everyone was just being dumbasses don't get me wrong Yeah it's nice to do something but it's better to run and fight another day.I felt this luthor even if he is evil.saw that the most logical thing to do is run, and try to do something while he is safe. maybe help others get away because he can't do any real fighting here. THIS IS A SCRAWNY ASS NERD HE CAN'T DO MUCH ON HIS OWN
@@silviainsertsurnamehere9620 nah man, it's Slade Wilson, you can look it up if you still don't believe it. If I'm right, they made it Slade so that he could have 2 villain names, Slade being more suitable for younger audiences since Deathstroke had "death" in it, which is dumb but, here we are.
It’s always rich hearing Waller say she’s “vowed to protect the Earth” when she’s been the cause of approximately 3 apocalypse inducing events in counting, likely more.
@@tylerdw100 He did try to take control of the robots back, he is the tech guy, that's what he can do.....also why should he have come back exactly? To die?.....I ain't saying he is a good person I am saying he is logical
no, but it may be how they get metallo. Cyborg Superman/Hank Henshaw was SIGNIFICANTLY more OP. there's a big diffrence between a brain in a metal body and a genuine technopath. with some tk on the side as i recall.
I feel people are grossly mischaracterising Lex in this moment. I feel that it isn’t that he’s a coward, but that he clearly has grown tired of working beneath someone, especially someone who asks for the impossible and then complains when it isn’t flawless. This is Lex in defiance. If he’s going to survive, it’s on his own terms. All he wants to do is forge his own path. His OWN way.
@@ozmasterofmasks5838 what i find annoying though is how fast it happened, like we barely get alot of time with Hanshaw and then suddenly they setup for him to become the Cyborg Superman Offscreen, like Whay
Protecting Earth also means protecting everyone on it. Waller honestly didn't care if even a handful of humans weren't saved. She was willing to let a school bus full of kids die on a bridge, she released all the prisoners to spite Sam Lane, which almost led to Ivo destroying the entirety of Metropolis, and she unlawfully imprisoned dozens of innocent people who she then experimented on with Kryptonian tech. That and she went on a power trip when she invoked Marshall Law in Metropolis.
Well considering that Darkseid is probably responsible for Kryptonian extinction(or rather total genocide of this race), i think Brainiac managed to analyse and then make something similar to it.
@@OdinRuZero [spoiler warning] Brainiac destroyed Krypton after they tried to make peace with an enemy they were fighting (possibly Apokolips) and didn't want to be decommissioned, not Darkseid, but I agree that this attack here may have been inspired by Darkseid's Omega Beams if Apokolips was the foe the Kryptonians fought against.
This is what I love about Waller. She embodies the ideology, "for the greater good." And all the pitfalls that entails. Fundamentally, she is genuinely trying to do what is best for her country. But often paves the way to hell. That's what makes her a good antagonist that can also be a reluctant ally.
0:31 And that’s how Henshaw becomes Cyborg Superman. Question is whether he returns next season to cause trouble as a Superman lookalike to frame him. Or if we wait for Doomsday to kill Clark later on first and the Henshaw makes his return for Reign of the Supermen arc
To be fair, Lex doesn’t/didn’t have a way to help, he’s just a scientist right now, only so much he can give in support, and the support he gave was taken over by Brainiac.
Well, it looks like Hank Henshaw died. However as we know from the comics, he survived worse than that. So it's possible he might still return in the third season as Cyborg Superman.
They'll probably do somethibg similar to Superman & Lois. You know, the twist that Bizarro is Doomsday, or that he became Doomsday.@@ozmasterofmasks5838
@@ozmasterofmasks5838 Yeah. I would like to see Bizarro in the show. Luthor would create a clone of Superman to either frame him for various crimes or simply eliminate him, but the clone will turn out to be unstable due to the complexity of kryptonian DNA and Bizarro will be the result.
@@grzegorzmizerski4187 I like that....and maybe bizarro will start following luthor orders cuz he sees him as a sort of father figure and wants his approval. Jimmy would try to reason with the confused clone and so would Kara, since she understands having a not exactly positive parental figure who drives you to do terrible things. Bizarro however would have some problems accepting their friendship cuz he hates to be compared to superman and be reminded of his clone nature, also he would be really attached to luthor, like checking on him when he works too much and does not sleep enough or eat properly but luthor would push him away...in a similar relationship to Ivo and lex, just slightly better cuz of bizarro kindnesses
Waller should have gone to Wayne enterprises for her Robots. Wayne would have hardwired a way to disable them. Lex was too arrogant thinking no way the robots could be taken from him
>makes robots based on alien technology >robots get hacked by said aliens Somehow this shocks everyone involved. Also, Luthor running away makes perfect sense. He can't stop the robots, and he doesn;t have the kind of tech DCAU Luthor had. He can't really do anything, except MAYBE buy a few seconds by standing in front of the enemy. WALLER is the one who made a fresh-from-college kid build an army of alien tech powered robots designed to be "unbeatable". It's her fault.
@@grzegorzmizerski4187 All I have to say is that any casualty Taskforce X suffers is all their own fault for thinking they even stand a chance against a Kryptonian unbound and refused to accept that Superman really is just helping to save Earth.
@grzegorzmizerski4187 Well if Henshaw died my theory is that he will return as ROBOT Superman on season 3 and We will see Darkside as the antagonist of season 4 I wonder how Darkside will look like on this show
@@SOLTAN-kv8gb I think they messed up DARKSEID with the whole peace talk reveal? I mean seriously? There was a peace talk? With DARKSEID!? I get you want to make brainiac even more evil but that's a joke
Neither had anything to do with Henshaw becoming the Cyborg Superman in the comics. That's only that recent animated movie. Henshaws origin is noted Fantastic Four gone wrong.
Waller fights to protect the earth. Gets labeled a fugitive. Luthor chickens out and runs away like a coward. Gets to start his own company. AMERICA (F*** YEAH)
@@danthewafflelord3059If she ever had the chance to put Lex in the Squad, she would gladly make sure he can never defuse the bomb she puts in his head.
@@danthewafflelord3059Yeah, Waller’s got a list of dirty dealings the length of a football field. Was only a matter of time till something backfired and bit her.
She got labeled a fugitive because everything that transpired was by her orders. The illegal experiments on prisoners, the illegal arrests of journalists and media personnel, the smear campaign against Superman and moreover the blatant disregard for civilian casualties. Braniac wouldn't have an army of Metallos if Waller didn't order their creation.
Yes the 20 year old with no weapons, armor, combat training or even muscles running from a fight he literally can't do anything to effect running is cowardly. That's called being pragmatic dude.
Considering this version of Lex is not the supergenius powerhouse he normally is, it makes perfect sense that he runs away. I mean, what the fuck can a 20-something techie like him do? At least Waller has military training backing her up. Luthor does not. Without his tech, he's a civilian just like the rest of us.
Yes but you don’t understand, people don’t like Lex, so they latch on to any perceived flaws in order to justify their dislike. Even if what he did is exactly what you’re supposed to do in a disaster scenario, GTFO and stay out of the professionals way
You know, Amanda Waller isn’t the most popular character, but I prefer the version of her from the animated series Batman, Superman, Batman beyond, Justice league, Justice league unlimited, all those ones.
"YOU asked for a inbeatable army...it´s not my fault !" "I asked for a failsafe, too. Did you forget it." "Oh....well...it was programmed for the premium patch..."
I mean it's logical to run away against unlikely odds. and luthor's strength is technology so I can see a reason that he ran to try to create a solution somewhere else. I won't pretend he did. but there is little a scrawny ass nerd can do against robots and a giant star killer unless he can make something. most comic book luthors have him well built and bald. this luthor isn't either. and the other luthor feels like he could try to do something relatively quickly but this one... there isn't a logical reason to try rushing in here. he isn't at all well built to do anything physical like many other luthors. I still love this bastard and this show. maybe cheesy or messy at points but I like it.
You gotta hand it to Waller. She was trying to prep the Earth for an unprecedented threat. It’s not her fault she was up against a civilization centuries ahead of hers, and an AI that was able to single-handedly destroy said civilization. Aside from the free speech crackdowns, she did all right all things considered.
Superman and Supergirl will always win in next season and they’ll fight each of their enemies especially Luther and LexCorp will be stop by any means necessary! They’ll need all the help and support to survive the battle and protect the Earth from Lex Luther and his deadly allies!
And what was he supposed to do? He doesn’t have powers, he doesn’t have more money than god, he doesn’t have an arsenal of super weapons, he’s not even in particularly good shape. There was literally nothing he could contribute to the situation other than another corpse to the pile. It’s common sense that if a disaster is occurring and you are not a trained professional with the proper equipment to handle it you get out of the way and let the professionals work
@@CultureCrossed64 Luthor acts like a god because he is at the apex of human intelligence with the resources of a mid sized country at his disposal. This Lex doesn’t have anything other than the raw intelligence, which has yet to be tempered by experience. It’s like calling Batman a weakling because 10 year old Bruce Wayne couldn’t take out the guy who shot his parents. Besides I don’t remember him acting like a god in this show
I admit, I don't like Luthor running away to save himself. Running away to reach a position where he can do something, every damn day, absolutely. But Luthor is a character that shouldn't be a coward, just a severe pragmatist. He'll never die for a hopeless cause, but he won't cut and run at the first sign of trouble either. I hope this gets addressed in Season 3. That he was trying to sort something out to deal with the Metallos, but wasn't fast enough. It would fit with his actions in this scene, his general characterization, and continue to drive a wedge in between him and Superman (because Superman saved the world while Luthor was trying to cobble together some miracle solution of his own).
Lex luthor is like the starscream of this show im betting when the next season comes around and near the end he just decides to dip and leave slade for dead when he asks for help on whatever next big threat comes to earth and that he just runs away and when the last episodes end credits scene rolls up it shows luthor in another building making another plan to kill superman. The only difference between luthor and starscream is luthor is a leader of the legion of doom maybe not yet but im betting later down the line if this series if it goes that far that it will happen as for starscream who will never become leader and will spend the rest of his days being megatrons punching bag "STARSCREAM GO GET ME A SANDWICH"
This reminds me of Vegeta when he's resisting Babidi's mind control and then said "You may have invaded my mind and my body, but there's one thing a Saiyan always keeps. His PRIIIDE!!" Also, Saiyans won't give a damn about our "Indomitable Human Spirit" anyways.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I understand Lex Luther in this scene. Like what was he supposed to do? His Tech was hacked and the city was going under, at that point he had no say in how this all went down. He was smart to run.
She may be the most hated in the show, but you got to admit, the woman has courage! Luthor joined task force X not to sure his country, to get pay back on superman for making him loose his job.
Oh no, she knows that she going to die but she does it with dignity. I'll give her some respect for that she genuine believe that she is doing all this to protect the planet even if she selfish. Luthor on the other hand, may not be soldier but all his talk about "Superman is a threat" and "Humans look after each other's" but he chooses to save himself proves that he doesn't care about protecting the planet just himself. I'm not surprise
That already happened when she thought fighting a fire god with its own fire was a good idea. At least in this way she is atoning for her misdeeds in some way.
@@tylerdw100 Well In his defense they can't do a thing, it's not like waller suicide is gonna solve anything.....also I hope In the next season they show us more of lex past cuz yeah he had a bad boss who treated him like trash and didn't listen or care for him and then in a blink he lost his job...but more than his animosity for superman I'd like to see how he became like this over the years, like maybe once he was a person full of hope and dreams but unlike Clark who met kind people who supported him lex met only jerks like Ivo who only used him and made him cold....that could make supe and lex even more of a functioning yin yang
…So wait, I’m confused. Was it Darkseid that attacked Krypton before Brainiace destroyed it or was it just Brainiac that whole time because apparently he has Omega Beams too.
Krypton was at war with somebody strong. So strong that they started peace talks (cease-fire was about to be announced). Brainiace as war A.I. saw this as betrayal and activated some WMD that destroyed Krypton.
@@andreayton1586 That’s what I’m thinking too but in a flashback earlier in this season we see purple Omega Beams which may be Darkseid’s compared to the ones we see in here. But I’m assuming that once Brainiac made his move, Darkseid misunderstood the situation and attacked as well.

Either that, or much like Lex, they all just bailed. But, at least Waller did her duty, like the Bad-Ass governmental anti-heroine that we all love to hate and hate to love! 0:54
