The smoke show S10 or Flex10 is definitely the underdog in stock form but we plan to bring our best game and build this into one amazing over-crawler for the Ultimate Adventure 2023. We also take you on the full tour of Moab Rim and put Josh in the seat for Potato Salad Hill all during Easter Jeep Safari. ********************************* Like this video? I think using the S10 as a starting point is pure genius. It gives you a solid chassis and great looking body to put a new suspension under. I’m very much looking forward to seeing this build and the competition. You have my vote(s).
My stepdad had the blazer version of the mini square body. The 4wd actuator was vacuum operated and was constantly problematic. His solution to the faulty actuator was a hose routed into the cab that he would suck on to get it into 4wd. I'll never forget the image of him driving in the snow with a hose stickin out of his mouth!
I am curious to see the improvements you are going to do to the Flex 10 this will be an interesting series for sure. I am going to be following all three builds I know they will be fun to watch for sure
The Grand Cherokee turned out to be an amazing crawler. Well done guys! And the green on that Cherokee is really eye catching. It's great that you put so much into the build videos so people get to see that these capabilities don't just happen when you bolt some tires on.
Классные покатушки! Шикарные машины!❤ Приятная компания! Что может быть лучше?! Молодцы! Завтра буду меня помпу на cherokee xj 92 года. Спасибо, что показал как!))
You've got my vote mainly because you intentionally tried to pick a vehicle that's never done the Adventure before but also because the Bleeping Jeep library of videos is a wealth of knowledge that I've coming back to for many years as I've built and broken my Jeeps, Colts charming smile may help a bit too😂
The vacuum lines that activate the 4wd are a very big problem on those S-10s. My brother had one, and it would never work when he needed it. Work just fine in the driveway, failed almost everything on a muddy road!
I had an S-10 Blazer with the same problem. I ended up making my own vacuum system to actuate it but even with a vacuum reservoir it would still eventually disengage at wide open throttle. What a stupid design.
I cleaned my check valve every time I got new tires. Problem comes from the check valve with 3 hoses running to it on top of transfer case. Never had an issue after first failure. Had that truck for 25 years until it got totaled, best vehicle I've ever owned and took me many places that no one thought it would go.
Good luck in the ONX Challenge. I know that you'll bring something that will push the envelope. Honestly, I have to say the Ramcharger is gonna' be tough to beat. I have an 87 Ramcharger with a 318 and a 93 Ram PU with a 360. I think Hollie and Rudy are in a better starting place, but the finish line is all that counts.
I had one of these about 10 years ago. Loved that little truck, it always surprised the Toyotas and Jeeps on the trails I took it on. I had to replace the 4wd actuator on mine several times. It’s a common weak point on those trucks. It’s a vacuum actuator located under the battery tray. The rubber diaphragms don’t hold up. I eventually put in a bypass cable mounted in the cab. Good luck!
Love those jeeps and I wasn’t a real jeep fan but I’m starting to like them. I feel colt should have some kind of superhero music when he helps people out.
Josh that wj came out incredible. Colt i like that rig buddy that green is mean . It looks awesome in those drone shots. Super cool rigs from the guys at bleepin jeep.
I had a 91 S10 Rwd with posi that was unkillable, was great in the snow, after both electrical and manifold sludge fires, it was the door hinge welds that finally did it in at over 400k on the original 2.8 engine. Took care of the gasket issue at 60k, the thing that killed the engines, if you redid the head gasket voluntarily they'd run forever. I had fires in the dash, If it sat still running it would ignite the sludge on the exhaust manifold, starters lived to fail, several alternators and a water pump, but kept going. When starters kept failing I ran it without for longer than was smart, I could rock\push start it with the slightest rotation in either direction. It rolled easy, in highway backups in the summer, I would kill the engine if I sat for more than 10 seconds, pay attention to the slope, drop it into first or reverse, one Flintstone kick and pop the clutch and go. Got so quick at it I didn't get honked. Might have been the jaws hanging open in shock stopping the horny honkeys from beeping me.
Always wished I had the 4.3 and 4wd on it but I've never gotten my money's worth out of a vehicle to the extent I did with the S10, had the long bed on it, put a topper on it with side drawer boxes, used to string a hammock in the bed cap diagonal, then I got a foldy chair style cot, that thing took me all over the 5 state area every weekend,a place to crash at the end of the line if I was far from home and hadn't any invitations indoors, my little hotel, at the beach, concerts, parking lots, trailheads. Best vehicle an 18 to 30 year old contractor could ask for.
This will be a fun series to watch. I'm hoping that Nate and Matt can take care of any past issues and move forward. Both seem like really good guys with lots of knowledge.
The world needs more S10 builds. I love my second gen ZR2. She's no rock crawler, but you don't need that where I am. That little thing you guys have will do great on tons and 40's, and will most likely out wheel whatever the other teams come up with. Light and small ftw.
Burnt both paws doing a pull up on the y pipe fighting the actuator battle on the trail a long time ago. Similar blue color and axle failure making it feel like yesterday. Thank you
I always liked the 1st gen Chevy S10/GMC S15 trucks and the SUVs, though I'd avoid the last few years when they got rid of the transfer case manual shifter. Always wondered why more people didn't do a trail build using them. Yeah you are going to have to redo the bottom, but a lot of people end up doing that anyway with whatever they start with. While there are some advantages to the newer wider vehicles, there are also advantages to the older narrower ones. In fact, I remember when people complained that 4x4s were getting too fat. It all depends on where you want to take it.
Having a disconnected front sway bar on our 2000 Astro van was pretty normal. I think we had one broken bolt and 2 of them where one end broke off so I’d say having it disconnected could be a normal state for and old GM … 🤣😜
Coin toss between bleep and dirt - beat holly & rusty. I give the nod to colt, but I’d love the ram charger. Learned to drive in that and it survived D to R at 45 mph…..
Love the s10. Had 90 4.3 5 speed I wanted to do a build on when I was younger. Not enough money to do in it back in the day. Still hard to make it happen at times.
I have never owned a S10 but I have sold two of them. Don't park one at my house! It's great to see your wife in these vids...her laugh and comments always get me laughing...and you are growing on me. Keep up the great videos! Thanks to you all!
Colt Im curious which front end 4×4 does it have elec actuator or vacuum servio I know we have cut broom handle off but a piece in and screw the actuator in roll wheel till it locks and tighten it up making it 4×4 full time lol I had a 79 Chevy Luv stock with broken frame behind cab both sides we wheeled it in KY logging rds etc....drug it through many deep ruts lol it was only 12 inches off the ground but one tough truck lol
I had a 92 ext cab s10 back in late 90's I gave it the 80's treatment with a 2inch lift 31's roll bar push bar and a safety yellow and black trim paint job .I really liked that s10 but trading it for a quadratrac cj7 with a 304 was worth it.
I think the s10 is gonna win! We used to have an 84 s10 blazer that we cut the top off of and used to haul firewood out with. Bounced it off trees and ramped creeks and it just would not die. It was called the truckter.
Rudy and Holly is going to be the biggest competition for the two of you and they should call their truck The Twisted Ram and even though I'm rooting for either Bleepin Jeep or RAD Mischief to win I'm pumped to see anybody win and then we get to see them out on the Ultimate Adventure trails and the only reason I'm not rooting for Dirt Lifestyle is because I've only recently heard of them when this competition started but I'm going to watch a video or two of theirs after this one and if I like them as much as I do Bleepin Jeep and Rudy and Holly then I'll sub to their channel as well
Hey...its the guy from Dirt Every Day 7:35 who made a FWD into 4x4 then turned it into RWD cause somethin on the front axle broke....if i remember correctly it was a light blue car
Ohh Ohh Ohh, I have been waiting for Hollie to say those words "What would you like to hear?" For the love of all things holy, Ave Maria, pretty please. 😉
The full drive actuator vacuum operated and they always go out that's why they make called a posi lock which is a cable that replaces the actuator so you don't have that problem anymore cuz the vacuum one sucks in cold weather you lose 4x4
Just a FYI: I had a S-10 and I accidently found a "fix" for the 4x4 not engaging: Try unplugging the dashboard fuse and put it back in. It made the solenoid engagable again. Leads me to believe that it is a electriconic problem not a solenoid problem.
I’m sure you’ve already figured out the 4wd issue with the “flex10” I had an 86 model and I had an issue several times with a vacuum hose near the battery. I think the 4wd selector works off vacuum on the model I had anyway the best I can remember. Anyway great job and good luck. Hope maybe the info with help someone out there
Those actuators are and always have been a problem, there a vacuum assisted with a cable and they put underneath the battery. Looking to do a SAS on mine
I watch all of these guys and most I have from their beginnings on youtube... I love your channel and always have but as it was my first youtube sub it is not my favorite and that is not a negative thing... I will also say that Colt isn't my favorite youtube personality still love and respect him... HE IS although in my opinion the most deserving candidate in this entire competition because I feel like it is something that is in his soul and he needs it to be the man he is supposed to be... everyone else sees it as an awesome adventure but Colt needs this and has worked hard to get here I feel like he needs my vote even though at first I was going to go for rudy because he's younger and hasn't had the experiences all you older guys have. good luck guys don't let me down lol (😋)
I would rather have a Ramcharger. I have wanted one since seeing Lone Wolf McQuade. However, I think you picked a better vehicle. S10 is perfect size and a really good platform to start with. Everyone is going to be changing axles up so, no need to worry about keeping the stock pieces. As for cheating, I would of just welded the rear diff and been like it had a really tight limited slip from the factory.
Next time I recommend a dakota with a 4.7 and a 4x4. Cheap trucks and Ive got that and a durango and we offroad them 3 times a week and have for years - ball joints are the only real expense. 10/10 would have gotten you to the end if you like smaller trucks. Around here chevys with lift kits are pavement princesses but theyre always clean they dont see real action. Jeeps and Dodges are the ones to get. My pops had chevys all his life - always had transmission issues - my first car was a Firebird Formula and within 3 months of owning it I had to replace that transmission too. Im speakin from experience here - but that seems to be the reason we dont see many chevies do real off roading.
Rules are not ment to be broken ...but bending them to the limit is part of competition ...knowing the structural strength of steel helps . LMFAO ! Go !
