Just got our baby's helmet off a few days ago. He wore it for 3 months. His head looks great! It's strange to say but it was bittersweet to be finished. It was such an emotional journey and then I just got used to seeing him with the helmet. He looked super cute in it! Like a baby football player or astronaut lol. Now I have to get used to seeing him without it. It was a smooth journey for him. The helmet never bothered him. Hopefully yours will be smooth too! Lmk if you have any questions!
He is so adorable! As a pediatrician, I believe that you all made the right decision in getting a helmet. In the end, you (and he) will be glad that you did!
Happy Sunday, honey it's OK, you're great patents, just new patents. My mama and grandmom(she had 14)taught me to shape their head with your hand (round the head) and yes when not sleeping tummy time gor sure! Their noggin is so soft/malleable at this stage.❤ my boys have perfectly round heads at 7 and 11 so I believe they knew what they were talking bout!😊 also both mine were born with full heads of hair also, so sometimes it can be easier to forget bc it's not as noticeable as it is on bald babies. He will be all good in no time!
Good job mama Mary ! No fault of yours at all. Things happen sometimes for us to be able to help someone else like you are doing right now! Got bless you and your family

That's SO very true. This is a very insightful comment. Thanks for sharing. GOD BLESS. THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH. AMEN. HALLELUJAH. AMEN. ❤❤❤
I co-slept with mine. Which is what 99% of people outside the "developed/ western" world do. The one night he turned purple, I put him on his back and if I'd left he would have been dead when I came back. The risk of SIDS is dramatically reduced by delaying the baby's vaccinations until the age of 2 when the blood brain barrier closes. Anything that can cause seizure activity can trigger a SIDS event. Most of the babies who are going to react like that, do by 6 months but it's not limited to just babies. The Sudden Adult Death Syndrome became prominent with widespread covid-19 vaccinations. I'm not saying don't do it. I'm saying know the risk and plan accordingly.
I am so glad you decided to get the helmet it won't bother him too much. He's such a lovely baby I hope this is resolved soon. I can remember my mum talking about shaping our heads as babies, the older women in your family will know about this. Wishing Joshua all the best 🙏
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY! I CANNOT BELIEVE SOMEONE, COULD BE SO HEARTLESS AND SAY THAT THE BOTH OF YOU AS PARENTS ARE THE CAUSE OF YOUR BABY’S CONDITION!! IT IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY THAT BLESS YOU WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL SON, DO NOT ALLOW ANY OF THESE HATEFUL PEOPLE STEAL YOUR JOY! 🙏🏽❤️
15 yrs ago I was walking past our preemie son’s bassinet, looked down at him , I noticed his head wasn’t as it should be from the top, his forehead was off, he had flattening on one side of his head from back to sleep and favoring that side as he slept, he was diagnosed can’t remember the name for the side flattening, he had lots of tummy time, physical therapy for the tight neck and wore a helmet for almost a year, It works, His head is perfectly round now ❤️
I’m so proud of you all for doing what will help your baby. I see baby’s in helmets when I am out and about and they look soooo cute. If ever there’s a time to wear a helmet, it’s when there a baby. Makes the cuteness scale go off the charts. Also, I hope you don’t feel at fault. Some baby’s wear helmets even with a lot of tummy time, etc. Every baby is different. I know there’s a lot of pressure with your first baby but it’s not you all’s fault. Sometimes things just happen and this is so fixable
First, your son is Adorable,😍 Second, I wanted to share an old wives tale regarding shaping a baby's head and how my Grandma would say to "mold" a baby's head💯 I think you made the right choice but, when I saw the video, I instantly thought of what she would say,Blessings🤗
The helmet will also come in handy when he starts walking. It’ll keep him from bumping his head. My children had flat heads but it eventually evened out
We bless God for parents that will go many milestones for there children because they love them. I thank God here on earth he equips the doctors with the tools to correct what will make it possible. Baby Joshua you’re so beautiful. God masters all things he gives grace.🙏🙏🌺
He is so cuute! My daughter had torticollis and her head shape was mishaped because of that and delayed in crawling or meeting baby milestones. Once we completed physical therapy her head shape on its own reshaped normally and she met all baby milestones quickly. I never experienced that before and had two children before her. Whether your a new parent or been a parent before there is no way to predict what may come up with your child. I love how you researched what was the best choice for your family and tried alternative methods as well. Your amazing parents even with a guidebook every child is different no question is too much ,and now you've helped someone who may be just experiencing a similar issue and what they can do! God bless your family!
My daughter had to go through this 3 years ago. With physical therapy and doing the work at home I was able to change issues she was having in her neck and corrected the problem with her flat head as well. If you do what your physical therapist tells you to do daily at home no need for a helmet. Children's hospital actually recommended against that option when I first did research online and asked her doctor what's the best way, the pillows and everything you see online will not do what the therapy will do. My daughter actually graduated from therapy earlier because I was working with her so much at home. It was a lot but worth it. Best wishes for the little one.
Why was I in the middle of watching another video and saw this short and said “ Oh! Let me see how my boy is doing” 😂 Great job guys and give nephew a kissy! 😘 🙏🏾
Awww hey Tink Tink he’s such a good boy prayinh all are well . I know this is a few weeks old so I’m praying all are adjusting better now in Jesus’s name ! ❤
My grandmother had us molding all of the grand babies head. You take your hands & just keep going around your babies head; over & over for a few minutes throughout the day. Especially after waking up. When my babies were sleeping I would change the position of their heads from side to side while they were sleeping on their back. I let them sleep on their backs, tummy & side; just rotating them from each position.
23 years ago I noticed my son at 3 months old kept favoring turning his head to the right side. It caused his head to become flat on the right. The pediatrician diagnosed torticollis and we began physical therapy along with home neck exercises. Using a helmet was discussed but wasn't needed as his head began to round out due to him learning to roll over and have tummy time. We didn't need the helmet but like you , I'm thankful that the option was there. You're doing what's best for your child and that's all that matters ❤
Can’t believe people are pointing fingers at you guys for this.🤦🏾♀️ I promise you that a lot of the those people blaming you would make worse mistakes or may not even have a child to begin with. You guys are first time parents…you’re not going to be perfect and you’ll never be perfect. I know for a fact you guys are trying your best and that’s what matters. Don’t let these know-it-alls ruin your beautiful journey as parents. Y’all are doing a great job with baby boy😍
Hello beautiful mama, I know what it feels like to be worried about your baby. Don't worry God that started a good work will perfect it. You're doing a great job.
Love I'm from that era !! when was taught to massage mold out babies head with the stroke gently technique.. wit our hands even when my my 3rd grandchild was born I took it off her head n got right down to stroking n shaping my baby girl head 13 yrs later perfect shape no flatness period...
@@MsNaturallyMary To be honest, my son deals with migraines and has been since he was very young. I don’t know if the two are connected. Just ask a lot of questions. I missed the migraines in the beginning. Nothing ever stopped him from football nor track. Plus, he’s very intelligent. I know your baby will continue to grow up healthy, smart and keep you both on your toes 😍
My dear Mary, regardless of the helmet, babies don’t need so many gadgets to sleep or tummy time. Allow him to sleep on the left and right alternatively and it will be alright. African moms know this. Listen for the advice of the elders, who raised well their kids. Never mind youtube, tick tock and all of the social media… Good luck sis
Those people who blame you'll for Joshua having a flat head are extremely ignorant; please do not allow them to guilt you'll. You'll did the right thing by allowing him to sleep on his back until he was able to turn over in his own. God bless you'll
I think it’s unnatural to put baby to sleep on their backs all the time, but I know they say it’s the safest way for kids to sleep. We do a combination of positions. When she was strong enough to lift her head we did tummy sleeping. Then we stared putting her on her side and sometimes we put her on her back (it’s her least favorite position though) I think all the different positions help with head shape. But I understand just wanting to do what’s safest as a first time momma.
There is nothing wrong with babies sleeping on stomach they sleep longer actually. Just remove stuff around them but I understand your first one you will follow what Dr says. I had 3 all slept on stomach you have you rub his head in circular motion to shape it but ok
