M715 would be a great foundation to start with. Strong frame and huge fenderwells for big tires. Keep the existing bed, bob the rear some and throw in a boom unit kind of like Rory did. But it all comes down to who's paying the bills and who's driving .
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 Год назад
get it together, then add a boom later on as upgrade, as well as other things.

As cool as that m715 is it would sure be a lot of work. I'd be worried about beefing it up because of things like the single sheer rear leaf spring mount. Throwing the body on a late model frame would put you miles ahead. Either way looking forward to the build
@MrBikerider84550
@MrBikerider84550 Год назад
I think the M715 would take way more work to get it going , where with the square body Chevy you already have a lot of parts and as you pointed out the controls are the same as yours so working it would be just memory on where what switches are located . It also seemed like it was more whole even tho it would still take a bit of work to get it into a working status but much less than the M715 . I think you should go with the square body Chevy .

That looks like place a guy could get in trouble buying toys haha. I like the other square body wrecker but you already have a wrecker. Might be nice to diversify your setup and build a truck more intended for pulling and winch type recoveries. That old white jeep would be awesome for that. Interested to see what you choose for a drive train. Maybe copy the wrecker so parts interchange? That little jeep would sure scoot with a hot little small block chevy under the hood! If you do a build series I'll be here for every episode! Looking forward to it whichever rig you choose. Take care guys.

WOOT a new build is going to be great! I like the Jeep idea, it looks like a beast! I vote for putting a real wrecker bed on it similar to yours. I just like when they have real tow truck parts and I think I’d want a boom with powered extension if it were mine. I like the idea of the 715. But let Mara choose the driveline to suit her driving style. I do recommend installing a transfer case doubler even if it's only used once in a blue moon. The good thing about the 7 series truck's was being able to fit a 38" tire without having to modify the fenders.
@forreststrong797
@forreststrong797 Год назад
I love full size jeeps that 715 is awesome. I would definitely build the jeep truck. I was also thinking the square body would be easy to run spare parts wise and switching things between trucks. You would still be able to build it differently to be better at certain things than your current wrecker or however you wanted to do it. It really is nice having multiple of the same vehicles. But the jeep truck is very cool those things are really fun and I love the grill on those.

Casey LaDelle has multiple vehicles for the different needs in his area. Rory built Old Blue to act as a backup for Trail Mater. This weather crazy in our area. I live in Minnesota. Hey I think the wife is right on that build. But I think a rollback would be great to have too. Since most vehicle are always in 4x4. I had an 86 Ford with aluminum bed that made it lighter. Made a killing at the Minneapolis and St. Paul impound lots auctions. I got tired of how that old truck look and went to change the cab only to forget that my truck was a diesel. And the cab I got was gas. I ran out of money before I can fix it. Those bills at home never stop coming in when you trying to do better. So I sold the truck to a farmer. And all 17 cars and moving truck. Good luck on the build. It should be fun.

From what seat cover is asking sounds more like a magic carpet than a wrecker. But if it is possible for you why not get both? The square body and the m715. The Chevy is already equipped just go through it and fix any problems. That way you'll have a backup to your wrecker or if you need a secondary truck it's good to go.
