This is one of the oldest scams known to man. Cheating people on firewood. Most people don't know how to measure a cord or a rick the right way.When I was a kid we had PeChee folders. They had all kinds of info. on the inside and some of it told you how to measure a rick and a cord of wood. I don't know if they still make PeChee folders but sometimes the info. came in handy.

In all honesty, were I selling you firewood and it was short because my son failed to do a proper job, My drill instructor senses would go nuclear. He would be back out to your place most ricky tick, redoing the whole job to your standard, and then he would be back on the weekend helping for a day's chores so he learns. So many people get shorted with firewood. If someone shows up with a full size pick up (unless they have very tall sides on it) and they are telling you that they have 1 cord of wood in it... they are lying to you.

That looks like just a pickup truck load, or about half a cord.

A true cord is 4×4 by 8ft long or 16 ft long by 4ft high

A lot of those pieces look like there about 12 in,, firewood is supposed to be cut on a length of 18 in a rick is half of a cord a rick is 4 ft tall 8 ft long 18 in length pieces of wood,, it should only cost about $125 at the very expensive most price,, a chord of wood on the 18 in length pieces of firewood would be two rows 4 ft tall 8 ft long,, don't get burned on firewood,, I'm originally from East Oklahoma and firewood can be had very cheap,, a lot of people wait for an ice storm or they wait for the tree trimming companies to cut wood away from all the power lines and they pick it up for free,, but the price of a rick of firewood delivered and stacked should be no more than $125 per Rick and $250 per cord

Hopefully they do the right thing and top up the wood. How much wood do you usually burn in A winter? We have long miserable winters I usually burn 8 or 9 cords A year lol that’s cutting it in the woods hauling it home then junking it up and stacking

My racks are 8’x 4’ tall I fill 2 racks 1 layer roughly 6’ high for 1 cord

Nothing wrong with "nerding out". Depending on how full you're gonna keep your wood rack, put a wall in the middle and mark out what a cord would be. This gives the teenager a guide to stack to and you a quick reference to look at before he pulls out of the driveway. This also allows you to pull off of one side that is dryed and ready to go in the house, while the other side is filled and drying out if need be. This also keeps them from dunping new wood on top that may be wet or you having move it again to keep it separated. Just a thought.
