Can I just say that the Uncle to Corey is the best "adult" character in these new films? Cared for his nephew when others didn't. Gave him good advice. Plus the man loves Hard Target.
I also love the fact that as soon as Ronald dies, that's the moment that there's no going back for Corey, up until that moment he's only holding Michael's mask, but upon Ronald's death he dons the mask and it appears that the last vestiges of his humanity are gone. It was a smart move having Ronald shot dead, had Corey killed him that would have been very jarring.
If you cut the final fight from Halloween Ends and put it in Halloween Kills right before Karen attacks Michael with the pitchfork you have a really good sequel and end to the story
Corey knows Allyson is outside the house because he can hear her loud muffler. They set it up earlier in the movie when he comments on how it needs to be replaced.
It took me a while to realize the guy next to Crystal was a dummy, I thought they were doing a skit and I’m like “man this guy is committing to this skit, like he is barley moving” lol
I was baffled by the direction ENDS took. It works for some, but considering the reviews and how much it dropped at the box office, I don’t think it worked for most viewers.
yea i don't want to say the Movie was shit i think Corey was doing good as a killer that part was working for me what was not working for me is how he got Michael Myres mask yea no that's bullshit what's also bullshit is the death of Michael was honestly really Meh it's not an iconic scene where people will be talking for years etc
Some interesting details from the Novelization: -The homeless man is actually another escaped inmate from the bus Michael was on. He was also a serial killer, Dr. Sartain experimenting on both of them to see if evil could spread to others if they were kept together, resulting in the homeless man worshipping Michael. -And we establish that Corey was not the first person Michael possessed with his evil in those four years. The film leaves you to wonder if Corey might come back, but in the book, Corey isn’t really the thing I was worried about. - Michael didn’t stop killing after that night in 2018. Michael even gets to be a vigilante/antihero of sorts in one part. He kills a lot more people after, and we follow him on on his journey leading up to the pipe. - In the film, Jeremy’s rudeness toward Corey comes off very sudden, after starting friendly. The book reveals Jeremy starts being a douche the moment his parents leave, manipulating Corey into letting him watch The Thing, with the threat of telling his parents he’s a bad babysitter. These scenes were cut for time, but better show the context of that relationship, leading up to Corey flipping out at him. -Corey’s mom is a complete monster, Intentionally Causing the death of her own baby brother - In the years after Kills, Laurie leads a militia of sorts to try and find Michael. She becomes obsessed, while Frank learns to let go of his rage during physical therapy to fix his legs, Causing a rift with him and Laurie, Explaining why they haven’t spoken much leading up to Ends. -the book chronicles events through all four years the trilogy takes place, as well as jumping back to the 80s, as well as jumping past the trilogy. Allowing Several characters from the trilogy to return, including Karen and Loomis (who’s in a Kmart parking lot in one part which was amusing to imagine). We get a scene with Julian and Allyson, and even the girl who made out with Cameron at the dance, gets about two chapters worth of epilogue. -Ultimately, the book feels more like a miniseries about what happened not only between between 2018 and 2022, but from 1978 and 2022. Not treating it like a time jump, but like four years of story, and vignettes as to what the town and its residents went through. The novel as a whole feeling like the conclusion of a 44 year story, that makes the trilogy feel satisfying.
“The whole movie they were cutting to the shredder” i only Remember seeing it once in the beginning and once at the end when they put Michael in it. They didn’t even show it when Corey killed the bullies at the junkyard.
There are 3 main modern sequel trilogies that follow the same pattern. The first one re-introduces the franchise and uses nostalgia and fan service to distract from the poor writing. The second one goes absolutely ridiculous and the flaws stand out more obviously. And by the third one, even the filmmakers don't care.
This is the best paid sponsor segment in any youtube video ever. Seamlessly woven into the review, I had no idea I was even watching a sponsored segment until it was almost over. I can only assume Tony tapped the talent of his good friend Chris Nolan to get that done. Bravo.
Danielle Harris and Scout Taylor Compton met JLC and introduced themselves. JLC told them “I’ve never watched any of those Halloweens”. They said she was cold towards them.
Harris introduced herself as both her daughter in the franchise (Karen who?) and that she played Annie as well.. We all know JLC was mind went straight to picturing Judy Greer and Nancy Loomis.
We needed way more of the mike and Corey killing together, if we had like 3 more duo kills this would be my 2nd fav Halloween probably. I honestly think Michael followed Corey to the doctors house because he could see and hear through Corey's eyes, it's wild theory but it makes a lot of sense.
The poster for ends should have been Michael peering at Laurie from behind the bushes.....with Corey even further in the background lurking 🤣🤣 Would have gave us a heads up atleast
It's awesome to see Tony and Crystal talk about the latest Miker Miles movie. Halloween ends with a fine movie, even through Corey took most of thr focus away. Jamie Lee Curtis was great as usual.
The ironic part for me is I don't watch horror movies, it's definitely NOT my genre but ever since my friend introduced me to this channel a couple months ago I have watched and enjoyed so many of your horror reviews. Can't watch horror movies but I can watch people talking about them. Go figure lol
Somewhat similar situation for me, but I'm the worst kind of horror elitist unless it was like a 9/10 horror flick I wouldn't watch it. HTM has helped me appreciate even the bad ones, love this channel.
Antonio, I just finished Halloween Ends. I gotta, it was poorly executed over all, but I think it’s the most mature of the Halloween sequels. I was legitimately impressed with it. I think they would have been better fusing this into 2018 more and letting the story breath but it’s obviously they didn’t plan any of this out at all.
Being in the marching band doesn’t make you “cool kids” but i think the director was trying to convey that bullies can be anyone, assholes can be anyone.
If anyone is interested; the guys at “We Watched A Movie” posted a video interview with one of the writers of the movie. I thought it was pretty insightful and got me a little more appreciation for this movie
31:37 as an italian from actual Italy, i can tell you i know loads of jewish italians. You can't even tell the difference tbh, just from the surname or because sometimes they respect jewish holidays, apart from that you can't really tell, very much integrated into italian society.
After Laurie’s conversation with Corey in his house, We see Laurie holding the paper airplane while talking to Allyson. So at least part of that conversation actually happened.
The way the Michael Myers mask is completely obstructing the view of Crystal in the one camera is the most Tony thing ever. lmao..... the chaos is real
Resurrections is a gem of a film, because I love kung Fu movies But i think people after watching this movie will go back to the Rob zombie and realize how underrated it is and how great it really is with the crazy Dr and the giant muscle mike... Especially considering kills is literally trash
Despised this movie. It shouldn't even be made possible to have Michael be this dumb. Transferring his essence into someone else. Just waiting to die as a rotting corpse later on. Dumbest idea put in a movie so far. Only good thing about it is we saw the progression of Corey, which we got more action out of him than Michael Myers in the first and third movie together. Then later on as always, they have to ruin it and have Michael Myers of all things come down and kill him after self stabbing himself and being shot purposely by Laurie. So basically, this whole movie was mainly about Laurie becoming the villain she set out to escape from. Typical film.
As a former marching band kid. No we were never cool and we got bullied, we were not the bullies. So when I saw that part come up I laughed so hard cause I thought it was a joke, then they kept showing up and I realized they were trying to be serious
Could have made a reference to Allison and Corey being high school classmates or something, allude to a past history. Also, what was up with that ugly cop? Raise your standards Allison.
Seems like Myers performed like an old wrestler; past his prime, was booked to take out jobbers to make him seem strong, however he at least sold the finish.
I wanted nothing more than for Halloween fans to get the ending they wanted. It breaks my heart that this movie let so many people down. I personally loved it, but I understand it’s many flaws.
Honestly its not as bad as people think. Its made like a movie from the 80s. Ending the trilogy or quadilogy with it was bad but as a film I really enjoyed it.
I really liked it, if Kills didn't exist and Corey was introduced in 2018 it would've had a better impact with the audience I feel. Corey would've been a good passing of the torch but they lose the rights after this so I feel like that's why they didn't go fully into that.
Since you brought it up in the end. Crazy to think it's been a year already. At least it seems everyone evolved is in a better place than they were back then. Happy that this channel persevered that shit storm and honestly happy for him (and his channel as well)
Halloween Ends SUCKED ... it was a dark, murky, bizarre load of nonsense ... what were they thinking? What a pathetic let down.... They took the worst 'supernatural elements' of the previous Halloween films as well as Jason Goes to Hell and Christine - again the 'worst parts' - and squeezed them into this mess of a film!! WTF? The fact that they chose to 'introduce Corey' as a main character in this supposed 'final entry' and not before that ....again WTF??? It makes no sense to the 'trilogies plot' and makes Ends appear to be a separate film entirely! ... If Corey's evolution into Michael Myers had been hinted at throughout the previous two movie's - this could have potentially worked. But since they decided to squeeze him into the trilogy, so late in the game, overall just does not feel like a climactic final Halloween movie at all to me... Ends was fukkkin awful ...You don't do that with a climactic final movie that has been built up as a 'final' fight between Laurie and Michael - even the poster is a lie! ... 3/10
Good chat😉👍 I think the pumpkins coming out of pumpkins intro is a foreshadow of Corey coming out as a killer thru Michael’s “evil force”…but like you state there’s supposed to be no supernatural force behind Michael…so Corey just went whack/copy cat (evil never dies, just changes “shape”…pumpkin comes out of the old pumpkin). They should of saved that for a separate film and really loaded Michael into this with a teaser of Corey at the end…he should of been in all 3 of these new films slowly introduced as the bf with his story spread thru all 3 films…so he’s established. That would of set up Corey for a new story/movie line as the boogey man. It’s a poor ending for the 1978 classic to jam all of Corey into the final film. The original 2 films are perfect as one complete film IMO. Everything else is a cash grab so no one should expect anything better than the first 2 films…you can’t top the original two. “Trick or treat mf!” 🥋 Halloween Ends was a “trick”…they stole your cash if u didn’t watch it on Peacock lol. Thx for the time you put forth to entertain others. You make the world a better place!!! God bless. Acts 2:38
I really wanted to know exactly what happened with old Charlie Bowles over in Russellville. Some flashback to the fate of Michael Myers’ parents would have been cool.
So, I know this is from a billion months ago… but Ronald is Corey’s stepdad, not his uncle. Side note, did you seriously say that it was John Carpenter laying in the bushes in the original Halloween? Firstly, it was a man named Barry Bernardi and secondly, it looks NOTHING like John Carpenter. Edit: Tony was right about Corey’s transformation; it happened when he looked into Michael’s eyes. As for Jeremy’s Dad seeing Corey at the side of the road, that happened mere moments after he left the sewer for the first time.
Oh and the best part of this whole movie was featuring Boy Harsher in the soundtrack. Kudos to Chucky season 1 for showcasing them as well as Body of Light.
So weird lol. Finally watched halloween ends last night and then started chucky season 1 for the first time right after. Thought the soundtracks had a similar vibe too lol
Halloween 2018: Laurie continues preparing for the return of Michael for 40 years. Ends: Laurie just wants to bake a pie! I didn't like how they wrote Laurie or Allyson in this. They felt like completely different people. Ends is what happens when the writers don't plan out an entire story ahead of time. They must've known that H2018 had the potential to be really successful and people would want sequels. Instead we got 3 films in a new trilogy that seem too independent of each other.
Well they knew there would be 2 at least, remember they almost filmed them back to back? So I think they just had nothing for the 3rd and that's obvious since it's a Hallmark movie.
Tony is slightly incorrect in this, The reason they felt so disjointed was because the entire trilogy was supposed to take place all within the same night but covid screwed up this last one and they had to rewrite it and how the characters are different now that a few years have passed so it wasn’t their original plan. That said I liked it for trying something completely different but it didn’t work out 100%
I’m about 26 mins in and had to put this on hold for a future date as I have yet to watch this film. Great coverage and banter, but I will return to this in the near future.
SPOILER. I would have loved it if Michael had grabbed Laurie's ankle as he was being pulled into the grinder. 🤷♂️ then it just bluntly ends with everyone in shock.
We stan Crystal on this channel, deal with it! On a serious note, she can be a bit chatty and loud, but she is a really nice person so we put up with it
@@Eisenwulf666 I think she's really sweet, but she's distracting and it takes away from my experience watching the video. There's a marked difference in the quality of conversation when she's not there. I like her hair though 😂
@@danmoyenin8948 and interrupts a lot, which irks me the most. It's not that I don't wanna hear her (sometimes), but I wanna hear everyone ELSE on the panel too 😒 & The worst part is she thinks the comments about her are funny smh
31:00 reminds me of the simpsons when Lisa meets a fortune teller and Lisa picks the death card which is not bad, then picks the happy squirrel witch is worse than death. Lol
#1: Corey Cunningham bears a strong resemblance to actor Tony Moran, who played the face of Michael Myers in the original movie when Laurie rips his mask off. 2#: Corey's last name is Cunningham, a reference to Arnie Cunningham from Christine, who becomes possessed by the demonic spirit of Roland LeBay.
You should watch the Redlettermedia analysis of Halloween Ends. Yes, the movie is not great but there's so many little details, inferences and subtext that you really have to examine it with the same critical eye you would a Scorcese movie or something like that. It is a masterclass in setup and payoff except for that terrible ending. The ending should've been that Michael Myers kills Corey Cunningham but gets injured, and as a result of him being weakened Lori Strode was able to kill him. The theme of the movie is transformation of evil, that's why you see the pumpkins blooming like flowers in the intro.
I didn't think it was a BAD film. Just wasn't a good halloween film. It wasn't a fitting "End" (No doubt they eventually reboot). The two biggest characters were overshadowed. That shouldn't happen
Why does everybody say that Corey beat Michael in a fight? He got tossed around like a bitch before being lucky enough to pull the mask off, just like Laurie did in the first movie.
Michael was dead in the sewer. Corey saw his eyes and embraced "the Shape" so every time it showed Michael it was actually in Corey's mind. when Corey "died" it was symbolic, at that point he fully embraced "the Shape" and the body they actually grind up is Corey... aka "the Shape" i loved this movie... But Jason Goes to Hell is my favorite F13th, so i'm weird.
Hard to not feel like Tony is trolling with some of his opinions. Especially considering this movie is absolutely garbage. I'd watch Book of Shadows 10 thousand times before I watched Ends again. Absolutely no way anyone that hates so much on part 5 and 6 actually can sit here and praise any part of this movie.
Right plus the chick is obnoxious, some voices are just intolerable; no integrity ‘i would say positive things about the movie if I was paid enough’ reminds me of that monotone cyborg Chris Stuckman, boring, but this ‘CONemtary’ is absolutely annoying, wish there was a dude here, you can’t have a coherent discussion with a whaman longer than 5 min yet alone 2 hours.
