Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! this was a great watch! It was great to hear your thought processes with a count down to your choice and reminded me of how we chose our truck. I remember deliberating over that exactyellow Unimog Doka you showed too, it's been for sale for a while! Your Volvo is ace too. I would love one as well, but my wife wouldn't! we are also a family of 3, starting our journey next year once our build is finished. EDIT, we also bought from overseas, and that was a fun ride too! Love your vids, thanks for sharing your journey with us all 😀
Really good choice of viechle. The tgb13 is very reliable and has awesome offroad capability. I know, I drove one when I did my military service in the swedish army.
OH WELL DONE GUYS !!!!! We totally get what your requirements are!!!! and ultimately what you need is what you Build well done and looking forward to the progress and wishing you all the best
TGB13 is the actual name of the vehicle. Short for TerränGBil 13, (terrain vehicle 13). The 4x4 is TBG 11. The ambulance is TGB 1314. There is an even longer one - TGB20.
Awesome choice guys. I'm super excited to see what you do with this Volvo. Being the owner of a 6x6 Pinzgauer, unusual vehicles are close to my heart. Have a merry christmas.
Congrats on ultimately getting your vehicle. It looks great! Can’t wait to see how you’ll transform it! My guess is the price you paid for it is 18,888 Euro.
What amazing news guys. Oh the great find you have made, right place right time for you all. New world comes before you all. i wish you all the best in the new adventures and look forward to the build videos. I'm sure they will be a far bit away but really looking forward to it and also the rest of us followers. Have a Have a safe festivus
Great vehicle. Much more compact than bowser, and very capable off/road. Pop top would be great, but a rooftop tent would also work. I’m in Denmark. Would love to help out if you’re passing through.
The nickname for the C303 in Sweden is “Valpen” which means “Pup” or “Puppy”. You’ll have to give the new build a dog-related nickname! Congrats. Can’t wait to follow along.
Thank you so much for watching and following along :) The Valpen is actually the nickname of the C303 predecessor called a Volvo L3314/C202, much smaller :)
@@TheOutFit Hello! Where does all your knowledge of Swedish military off-road vehicles come from? Very true,... Volvo Puppy was the predecessor of this C303 and is called C202. The prototype was produced in 1956 with a Volvo B16 engine and serial production was carried out until 1970 when the C303 took over. Congratulations on a very good purchase and choice of vehicle! ;) I will follow your construction of the Volvo C303 with interest. Greetings from Rolf in Sweden.
Good choice, didn't know they fitted in a container. I guess you'll go pop-top to try and at least fit in a 40ft hicap, although some people have carried container-only wheels to squeeze some high vehicles in. I've a Vario, glad you like them :) I'd try and also add some angle to the pop top and plenty of solar. Remember its much cloudier in Europe, further from the equator, you'll probably need double what you would need in Aus
Great choice guys! I think you'll need to go pop-top. So many possibilities with this build and exciting times ahead. Congratulations on your purchase. Think you should call it Sven. Marty from Perth
Hi guys, happy new year to you all. It's going to be an interesting one, I'm looking forward to the new build on such an interesting vehicle. if your In Europe next June you should have a look at the Allrad show in Germany.
This is awesome! Can’t wait for the build, we thoroughly enjoyed bowsers build, I’m sure the Volvo will be just as interesting and exciting! Very cool, congrats!
I 💚 that truck!, couldn't of picked it better my self, great job bro! A seen this with a foldable top ( pop up roof) on a Explorer Magazine. Hopefully I can join your patreons sometime next year 🤙💚
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment again! We are stoked you like the vehicle as much as we do :) from memory the Explorer build was an ambulance body, it looked really cool! Thank you so much for following along and your support :)
Though the Pinzgauer cattle is better know, the Pinzgauer vehicles is named after a work horse breed sometimes called by the same name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noriker
Congratulations on the new vehicle, 5,500 - 9,500 euro? The Vovo 304 are certainly tough ,Cruising speed a little lower than Bowser. What is spare parts availability like where u plan to travel? Have great Christmas to you all.
Awesome machine choice and congratulations of finding one for the right price. If you're thinking of a pop-top have a look at a few of the folding solid side designs (some manufacturers claim patented designs but a few people have built and modified their own). That way you can have insulated sides using similar materials to Bowser, and a lower overall height. Wishing you all the best for the Season and a full on 2024 !!!
You have not said how/where you are going to do the conversion. Is that something else you are keeping up your sleeve, especially when you mentioned the issues with sourcing/logistics of a site in France or in fact anywhere else?
Congrats !! The 303 and Pinzgauer has always been my favorite overlanders, even though I have never seen one in the 'flesh'. They look awesome and are awesome offroaders. Not a bad choice at all.
Well, by the end of the video I could see it was a good choice though just seeing the photo on Patreon I was thinking - what the ********! It’s going to be an exciting build and I hope the other things work out, like a place to stay and build it out. With storing Bowser, we’ve had bushfires breaking out all around Perth, so you want a place to store it that isn’t in a place with a bushfire risk, perhaps somewhere where there was a bushfire last year. Unfortunately we can’t help out as we only just have room for our Suncamper Sherwood.
Congrats on your new ride for the rest of the world! This will be an exciting build on a vehicle not many of us in Australia will be familiar with. Looking forward to this.
Sounds like a very interesting project, looking forward to following your new adventures. A pop top or at the very least RTT with a floor portal like Lifestyle Overland did on their trailer would be a good addition. Best of luck and happy holidays!
congratulations on your c304. when i bought my c303 i was looking for a c304 longbody but there was none for sale in europe. mine is equipped as a camper for 2. you have to remember that they are top heavy and want to turn on their side, I have fallen over in mine and mine overturns at 40 degrees to the side. many I know who have 303 and 304 have tried to roll over in them..... but drive carefully and they are almost unstoppable
You RU-vidrs can't take any comments unless they're positive. Instead of having a think about my points. You did waffle excessively. Before you got to the whole point of that video. My other comments I think are valid, as I see it. Obviously not as you see it. Yes you've got something very unique. But there's a reason for that. Not many people think it's a good idea. But I don't wish any ill towards you. Hope you enjoy it. It's the first time viewed your channel From Nottingham. England by the way. 79 in 8 days Been caravanning for 15yrs on a seasonal pitch in Peak District Derbyshire. But my wife sadly passed away 2yrs ago. Didn't enjoy it anymore. So bought a Renault trafic 2019 lwb premier edition van & converted it. Which has been a really great help for me. So in conclusion. I've I'd have said what I wrote on my initial comments. To your face I don't think you'd have been annoyed. As facial expression & tone of voice. You'd have realised I wasn't being nasty. Just my point of view.
I thiiink the guy who runs the german Explorer magazine has a 6x6 Volvo as one of their project vehicles, check out their youtube. Really looking forward to this!
Ha !! I’m swedish and when I was in the army 1986-87 I drove one of these nearly daily. Very off-road capable , but the 6 cylinder Volvo engine was rather thirsty. Fun fact ; the Sergeant told us on the last day we were in the army this : “If our country will be threatened , the car you’ve driven the last 7 months here will be ready for you !” 😂 Good luck when you get your hands on it , build it wisely and better and you’ll get rewarded ✊
Congrats on your C303. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. I would guess at 25000.00for the ex-military vehicle. BIG question?? Where and how is all this going to take place?? GOOD LUCK!!
Congratulations on your new vehicle I'll guess €20.000 and you'll have some money left over for the build👍👍👍. Awesome looking vehicle can't wait to see it .
Wow, I just spotted Bowser in Mandurah at Core 9 fitness. Wish I had the time to stop a meet you guys with my 4 week old boy. So cool to have seen Bowser in the flesh. What a beast! Can't wait for the next adventure guys
Congrats on the new vehicle guys, something that was even reasonably priced 😅 Glad you went with a 304 because, there's ground clearance and then there's portals. A hard sided pop-top makes sense, especially in Europe considering the temperatures. I'd say best to brush up on your welding skills before you head off to Europe. Happy Christmas to the three of you. I'm really excited to see the build, cheers 🤙🤙
Congratulations on your new purchase. May you enjoy many wonderful adventures. I think you paid 25,000 euro and my husband said 18,000 euro. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all as you enjoy your first Christmas with Oakley x
Hi folks, congrats on the family , Happy New Year, you mentioned import to Australia restrictions. And Motorhome imports. Would the Motorhome idea for a rebuild be your consideration for purposes of shipping.? Really keen to see what you both decide on for the rebuild. And your travels. I’m thinking the build could be faster with your experience with the MOG..logistics to where you will end up building . Your excitement is catching. Happy travels folks.
We ran into the same problem building out our vehicle trying to find a space. Over the last year, we have been building out on the streets of Seattle and borrowing friends and family spaces for most of the build but it's been dragging on. We ended up renting an AirBnB with a garage to finish out the rest of the build in 90 days so we can hit the road full time.
Thank you so much for watching and following along :) The Valpen is actually the nickname of the C303 predecessor called a Volvo L3314/C202, much smaller :)
nice to hear your car of choise as swed and volvo employed (even if it was long time ago since we made them) looking forward to see the build and tour in europe hope you come to sweden for the snow and aurora. can realy tip to go to norway gudvangen It is our best RV trip so faran other is Uskavi lime quarry in middel of sweden. As you probebly know parkfor the nigth is a good app in europe with a special filter 4x4.
I would recommend getting an awning, so that you can still sit outside your vehicle and chill in nice environments even if it's raining etc. Plus, having an awning would allow you to cook outside easily without worrying too much about the weather. I think if you get something like the Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo pop top system, it'll be quite effective and useful for you all since it'll lift up to give headroom and can be closed/tucked seamlessly when not needed. Furthermore, that pop top system allows for a full bed up top when it's lifted and another bed in the main body of the vehicle. I really do strongly recommend checking out the Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo pop top system as I think it'll be something you guys like...practical and still able to save on space/vehicle dimensions
Congrats! This vehicle looks so cool. Definitely some great potential. I was thinking on your question of where to do the build. As an idea have you considered to contact e.g. big commercial converters like Bliss Mobile (they also have a partnership with Unidan) in NL? If you ask if they know some good places where you can do this they might have a huge network to tab into...Have a Merry Christmas to you all and Ange if you need so tips for carrying Oakley in his next carrier just let me know. There are some great buckle carriers out there which are vert ergononic for you to carry and for him to sit in. Perfect on your back
Best off road vehicles I ever drove for go-anywhere-ability was a GMC 6x6, and a GMC 4WD gun tractor with big wheels and fat tyres known as a Desert Rat. They would pull a howitzer and a trailer full of ammunition as well as carry a tankful of fuel in an armoured shield.
@@TheOutFit Thanks for the reply, sorry I was short, gues I skipped 🙈 Anyways, very glad your keeping that badass vehicle you two built. Enjoy your new addition and have great adventures 🌿
Hi, you feel a decision that's ok. I drove Pinzgauer in the Swiss Army, and I am pretty sure it's not the gear that I would move with a family around Europe. There are too many points that we can talk about, but a MAN with your numbers can't sit in these jerrycan for more than one hour. I building at the moment, a Steyer 12 M 18 if you want to have a vehicle between Pinzgauer and 12 M 18 I can highly recommend the DURO. I know everybody has his own preferences, but sitting comfy is a high priority. Good luck If you X Switzerland, my Haus is your Haus. Patrick
Thank God for fast forward on RU-vid. You can certainly waffle for half hour. From what I can see. Very poor choice. 80% of yr. Off 4 wheel drive not necessary. Very impractical for access. Probably few sites in Europe won't accept you. Extremely poor mpg As its rare vehicle. Find hard for parts. Positive Straight sides
Awwwwwwesome - can’t wait to see the build! Very much enjoy listening to how you came to your choice of adventure machine. My dad had a Volvo as I was growing up - he’d have loved to see this beast build! Merry Xmas you guys - love seeing adorable Oaks grow !
Hey guys, just. Had a thought, there is a guy from the uk driving to Australia in his huge overland truck. His YT channel is “bobby” May be worth trying to contact him and see what his shipping plans are. Maybe 😬
Alu sink body is as follows steel chassis on top a body galvenised steel for the lowerside and the cabin rest of the body is aluminium, for the engine the volvo b30 is a 6 cilynder 3 liter engine about 119 hp( with the other camshaft 160 hp) I own one with les than 40000 km on the klock
That is an absolute awesome rig and will be a weapon offroader once finished... also i have emailed you about parking for bowser and hope we can sort something out.... merry Christmas and safe new year to the outfit fam
Without even watching it's either a Pinz or a Volvo C303... on the whole, small, old but should be good, parts are not going to be your friends though. Treat it nicely and it should do you well.
