Your videos are so helpful, I thought I'd give back: When gluing delicate pieces that require precision, use wax paper or a piece of clear plastic (like those binder sleeves we used to use in high school book reports) between the layers to block the portion not ready for contact. This allows you to control the contact in small increments as you pull the paper away an inch or so at a time. The wax paper or clear plastic also allows you to see what's underneath which also helps the process. Something else that helps is using the plastic as a template to block out your glue areas and protect the inlay. Hope this helps!

Really good advice at the end for leathercrafters although, it is also really good advice for any endeavor. What was the leather used and it looks like a soft temper? I have always avoided soft tempers because I fear the wallet will become misshapen too easily. That is why it is nice to have experienced leatherworkers to learn from.

Some brands also add plastic card stock between the outer layers of their wallets to provide more structural support. My Burberry wallet is a perfect example of this, as soon as the rolled edges began to fail the card stock was immediately visible.

Very impressive! but is there anyway that you can keep wallet thickness to the original design? I noticed that your new wallet double the thickness, making it quite bulky without anything in it. I have seen full leather wallet made in lamb skin with that nice thin wallet design, but I doubt that it can last like yours, what other material can you use to stay thin but durable?

I think it would probably damage the material if he cleaned it up the stained part would require treatment and that could discolour the stained part to a different tone from rest of the print, dry cleaning material may work but hard to tell on that type of fabric on outcome and over all balance of the fading after any treatment.

👛 The use of nylon is more optimal for two reasons: 1. Wallet becomes thinner and lighter. 2. Nylon is more slippery and therefore resistant to constant movement of cards from pockets and back.

Hi! About the last stitch you made, if you punch the holes on the front face of the interior piece and the front face of the exterior piece, won’t the diamond shaped holes not line up? If you lay them on top of the other, one would go / while the other goes \. I hope that made sense and you can help me out. This has always been a problem for me when stitching through multiple layers. The saddle stitch ends up looking confused since the thread has to go through a change in direction while going through the holes. Much love from the Philippines! ❤️

I really appreciate your work and your quality is better than mass production for sure but personally, I like the style of the original Wallets from LV or Gucci more. I'm just not a fan of the rounded edges and the stitching because it's so prominent. I think most leatherworkers on RU-vid are working with this traditional, vintage kind of style and there is nothing wrong with it. It's just not for me.

I would say its different. If its better depends on how you want it. The Gucci one was a lot thinner and easier to carry, probably why they choose their material. Leather that thin would not last at all.

He planned the stitch before he punch all the way in. In the previous he talked about this, he would use a 1 tooth iron to end sure the space is not end up matching, so there would be a stitch that is a bit shorter or longer but it's not really noticable. Hope this help.

I think using full leather instead of the nylon material makes the wallet thick. Also imagine after putting the cards in. So i guess the trend now is to make thinner wallets. Maybe that's why Gucci used nylon, cause it's thinner.
