As someone with dodgy hips I couldn't do the walk up the Wall but I thank you for such a scenic view and thank you for doing the physical exertion ! :-)
If you guys were getting tired there's no hope for me to even get past the first pit stop. I get tired on the Santa Monica Stairs 😂😂. Then again I haven't done it since becoming an Olympic Medalist myself, so maybe I'd do better now! Haha! Love you Tom! Love Lonnie Hogi🏅🏅👍👍💚💙💜🐷🐷
You were so funny! Btw, those are NOT the original steps. They have been replaced. The original steps had deep uneven worn indentations from centuries of use. If you think these were hard to climb you should have been with me with the original steps! (If you ever climbed the Tower of Pisa, you will understand what I mean.) Too bad I can't include a picture :(
The Great Wall of China. Interesting tour. I am sure that the air was thinner the higher you guys climbed. You guys are fit and it was a challenge for you guys. I did not know about the slope way. Thank you for sharing Tom.
A great video of the Great Wall of China. It was a great challenge and a very good workout for the day. A great inner Satisfaction that you achieved it Sorry for the late reply back
*Bringing back Memories!:* *Young Tom:* We’ve been training... yeah, that’s pretty much it. Tranin’. *Interviewer:* You had a day out though, didn’t you? *Young Tom:* Oh yeah, we went to the Great Wall, on the 14th. *Reacting to old videos Tom:* Just trainin’.. Give yourself a slap!
I was teary eyed when I saw the Great wall of China and Tianamen Square. Beautiful and very clean country. But very scary when you get separated from your group coz nobody speak English! Thank you for this video!
It's a pity: I am in London for the first time in my life hoping to see Tom anywhere by chance, but he's in China! But nevertheless I wish you the best and admire you! :) At least I saw you at Madame Toussad :D
OMH SMH those slopes going down ... I didn't see those when I was there, that would have saved my legs (btw that part of the Great Wall is called the juyongguan pass). Also I made it so much further than Tom and the girls, I made it to the top of that mountain, like soooooo many "checkpoints" further.
Love your vlogs. And tell Lance I really enjoyed "When We Rise". Is it going to be available on DVD? I sure hope so!! And if YOU had trouble going up all those steps, as good a shape as you're in, I wouldn't even be able to make the first stop!!
Not too many peeps know that they r diff sections of the Great Wall, the easy one r where the tourists go n the difficult one where one fears to thread, these r tactic to prevent the enemies attacking the city easily in the ancient war time
Funny how the guy with the biggest thighs (Jack) sits out most of the climb. Guess he didn't need the workout lest his pants pop at the seams. Cool video - I had a good sense of the fun you guys had, and the exhaustion! I think I would have kept Jack company, haha.
thanks for the trip Lance for us people who cannot make that trip it's amazing to see thanks for videotaping this and sharing it with us You're simply brilliant sorry I missed something but why didn't your husband come on the trip with you? is he busy working? have safe travels!!!!! please be careful in Russia.
I don’t like to hike but my husband loves it. On a scale of 1-10 10 being do it and one doing a awesome spa day instead which would you really rather do ? lol knowing what you know now. If I’d be your age gur I’d do the whole GREAT WALL OF CHINA you only get one chance to make a great memory. lol y’all were there to get gold instead of killing your legs.
I noticed that you wrote PUA right behind LANCE, I want to know what's that mean. I really like you guys, I just want to know whether there are some positive meanings on PUA?
Tom, what's the name of that part wall? My wife and I went to Badaling a less commercial part wall that requires to to walk up a dirt, and rock/wooden steps to about 600m in height before you even reach the wall.
They went to Juyongguan 居庸关(0:48 showed on the ticket). By the way I think Badaling is the most commercial part because it is well-protected (despite being painted by a lot of people recently) and the earliest one to open to tourists. In China its also the most well-known part.
I am Chinese and shame on those people who wrote on the wall. They are damaging the great piece of work our ancestors have done over the past 2000 years!
I don't think it was written by Tom - it's just a coincidence that the name "Lance" was there. However, maybe the graffiti isn't as bad as you think. See this article - "Great Wall of China to establish graffiti area for tourists Authorities in China to allow tourists to graffiti on a specific section of the wall, in the hope of reducing its spread" - www.theguardian.com/travel/2014/mar/04/great-wall-of-china-graffiti-area
