I figured out how to beat Dodongo. See, there's this hint that an old man in the same dungeon gives you. "Dodongo dislikes smoke". This means that to beat Dodongo, you have to use your NES cartridge slot as an ash tray for your cigarette. In doing so, Dodongo will walk away, complaining about second hand smoke.

Genuinely everything about this is so perfect oh my god-the tone is kept throughout the entire video and feels so authentic that the punchlines are said so casually. I laughed so hard at 1:06 where it was like “we also checked every other tile in the game” which is made even better when they do bits involving the “staff” not being good at games.

4:54 I managed to beat Dodongo by using a GameShark. Unfortunately the game softlocks in the boss room. It turns out that The Legend of Zelda's development was rushed to meet a holiday deadline, and the developers weren't able to finish making the rest of the game. So to hide the lack of content, they made Dodongo invincible to make sure players would never see the other 6 dungeons.

This reminds me of an old (10+ years) tumblr blog that spoofed DYKG. I forgot what it was called but it was a longass name like WOW! UNKNOWN FACTS ABOUT GAMING. It made posts like "Did you know? Tom Nook wears an apron to cover his giant balls" and "The Koopalings represent the seven deadly sins." It was actually a bit of a trend to make DYKG parodies on tumblr because that's where DYKG started, I think. Before moving onto videos collecting their factoids they just made tumblr image posts. And when Hyrule Historia came out, we all used to joke about how they'd steal all its factoids and make posts about them... and that was exactly what happened. Anyway thanks for coming to my TED Talk and I love that they are still parodied up to this day. This vid is funny af and I'll probably end up watching it more than once.

Did you forget that Mario is actually an alternate universe counterpart to Popeye the Sailor Man? Seriously, the original Donkey Kong game was originally supposed to be Popeye game. When Nintendo couldn't get the rights to the character, they changed him into Mario, Bluto into Donkey Kong, and Olive into Pauline.
