The other place before Sukhothai was Dvaravati empire since the 6th century, it was the earliest kingdom of Siam (Thailand) the center of Dvaravati is at Si Thep monument in Petchaboon province. It is the UNESCO heritage and Dvaravati's school of art influenced most of the MSEA cultures. The dress that you think was Apsara actually was Sukhothai style which was influenced heavily from Dvaravati as Sukhothai was one of the Dvaravati city before became the capital of Thailand.

Actually Thailand (or Siam) has had four capital cities during their history. Their first was in Sukhothai in the north before Ayutthaya was the capital. Then it was moved to Ayutthaya for over 400 years before it was sacked in its siege, culminating the Burmese-Siamese War. The Thais had to get out of Dodge, so they moved their capital to Thonburi for less than 20 years. In the late 18th century, it was a sperate city located just north of Bangkok, but is now part of the Greater Krung Thep mega-metropolitan area. It was later relocated to Bangkok proper, which has been Thailand's capital, now approaching the last 250 years. ...

Did you see the red bricks in those ancient temples? When the capital was moved from Ayutthaya to Bangkok, those bricks were transported from Ayutthaya to Bangkok via the river to be used to build the new capital. So Bangkok was created from Ayutthaya bricks. The red bricks that were brought were from many ancient sites that had collapsed. (The bricks were actually made of clay and rice straw.) And if you wonder what the ancient Thais looked like, look at the faces of ancient Buddha statues. The facial structure of the ancient Thais will be like that. Nowadays, the true Thai lineage can also be seen from the people of Ayutthaya. Note: They will have dark skin, slender faces, long arms and legs. The standard height of the Thai people in the past was 180 centimeters. Women will be 170 centimeters. But now, after crossbreeding, the height of the Thai people has decreased surprisingly.
