This is so interesting. You know soda cans are recyclable and that's about all most of us know about that - but to see HOW they actually get recycled is pretty awesome. No magic, just a lot of hard-working Americans doing what Americans do best - work hard and get the job done.
Soda cans have a plastic film inside it. If you use hydrochloric acid you can dissolve the middle metal leaving only the top bottom metal and middle plastic. It is pretty cool.😎

Soda and beer cans are the one item that should be recycled regardless of the other recyclables collection numbers. Aluminum is costly to extract from the ground so each re-use is important. Things like plastic bags can be re-used in the home, which in essence equals 100% recycling. But aluminum cans, etc. need to be remanufactured.
Have you ever tried saving beer or soda cans in 100+ Temps? The flies, maggots and smell are terrible. I would rather throw the cans away even if I can get 5cents deposit back. Plus gives the bums, junkies something to work for digging them out
