@viktorargonaut4156 there's a theory that there is no raccoons on asgard, so asgardians do not know what a racoon is and think they are rabbits. In endgame other Asgardians call Rocket a rabbit.
I just realize this after I live in Australia. I am Indonesian and I asked my ozzie friend how he know my language, he said he took an elective back in school 😄
Groot's language is known to Thor, but he's likely just calling Groot “tree” by his looks rather than his name. In the comics, Groot's actual full name is “His Divine Majesty King Groot the 23rd, Monarch of Planet X, custodian of the branch worlds, ruler of all the shades.”
My original thought was like "that's dumb that would be like my name being human" but then I realized, I know multiple people named Guy so honestly maybe
@justsomedude4469 don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure they are all trees. I remember seeing something about them in the comics where they are all made of wood and that's why they talk like that bc their vocal cords are made of wood and that's all they can say
Why would his name ever be tree if they don't speak english, no way the word for tree in their language billions of lightyears away is also just tree as it is in english...
Flora Collosus was his species, I don’t know if we got a true translation for OG Groot, I like the idea of Tree being the translation but I think it’s just a nickname like “rabbit” for rocket, However canonically comics give his full name & title as “His Divine Majesty King Groot the 23rd, Monarch of Planet X, custodian of the branch worlds, ruler of all the shades”
Thor calls rocket "rabbit" because they don't have raccoons, the closest thing they have is rabbits. He's calling "Groot" "tree" because that's what groot is.... just like rocket is a rabbit (raccoon)
Come to think of it even Eitri the Dwarf at Nidavaler also calls him "tree", "help me find the handle" . I wonder if they're referring him as "Tree" as in the species, like ""Human" or "Asgardian", etc.
Humans and Asgardians aren't different. Not all Asgardians are gods and goddesses, but people in Asgard are also humans. They are chosen from Midgard because they were succeeded in survival so they were picked up to get trained more in Asgard by an invitation worth of a piece of paper from one of Odin's Ravens.
Actually there’s a really cool explanation for this. His real name is Groot, but on his home world there was a disease that infected everyone and they slowly lost thier ability to use language other than a few simple phrases. Mind you this was in a very old version of the comics but it’s certainly worth a read 😊❤
We don't love to assume things far away from what they actually are, but I can promise you that we don't have racoons in Asgard, let alone all nine realms in Nordic mythology. The closest thing we have is Ratatoskr, and that little pissant is a squirrel. So we call the likes of him what we have the most, that means we call him a rabbit. Never seen a rabbit in here lately, wonder where they went.
"His Divine Majesty King Groot the 23rd, Monarch of Planet X, custodian of the branch worlds, ruler of all the shades" apparently this is his real name
Groot was the father, tree is the son. It’s confirmed baby groot is the spawn of the character from the first movie so his name could be different, and having been raised by a human he gave himself a tarren based name, tree. That’s my new head cannon till the movies say different
Groots canon name is: "His Divine Majesty King Groot the 23rd, Monarch of Planet X, custodian of the branch worlds, ruler of all the shades" Not "tree"
@@tesserax8183 young Groot and oj Groot are the same entity. The new Groot sprouted from one of groots branches. Flora colossi like Groot have insane regenerative abilities that would make even Deadpool blush. It's not a new baby Flora colossi being born, it's Groot regenerating after being broken too badly. In fact Flora colossi do that thing those weird jellyfish do where when they get too old and absent minded, they just deage themselves to young again and restart their life cycle. Unless all branches of a Flora colossi are destroyed completely they'll always regenerate
@@hypnoticrobotgaming which one? Tesserax8183 or the video? If you're talking about the video, no. The dialogue was "he's a tree" not "he's tree" Chris's voice while acting as Thor is too thick bcuz he played a Norse character. As a northerner I could promise you that Northern people do sound thick when talking bcuz we use our throats more into play. I still don't know how that would scientifically work and makes sense to everyone else but that's the truth. And as an Australian, Chris Hemsworth did well enough for that.
All Groot are Groot, but they're not exactly a hivemind-type species. Groot aren't exactly individuals per se. Tree probably isn't Groot's first name or surname, but a description of his ethnicity or tribe. Many floral types of Groot exist, but not all are trees. Thor's intro would probably be the same as if he were introducing Rhodey as his black friend. When Groot gave his catchphrase he was probably correcting Thor.
Turns out the voice actor of Groot got a different script that fully translated the Groot language so the tone of his voice is more accurate but unfortunately no one else saw what the script said. Edit: Sorry that I forgot Vin Diesel’s name. It’s hard to remember every actor.
Makes sense as he claims to speak the language and clearly has a convo with tree ...so tree is his name...except its not cause we are gonna keep calling him groot
Nah, thor has a way of not beating around the bush an calling things how he sees it 😂 he’s prideful an plus it’s like when he calls rocket rat or squirrel 😂
In old cannon Groots could speak full common language, and most Groots ended up saying many different one liners in the old age. As Groot age their Larynx drys out preventing them from constructing full sentences. Young and Teen Groot should be able to speak. Also, Groots were almost wiped out for being a extremely aggressive race and a scourge across the galaxy. The older they got the less chill they become.
Tree is probably the race, calling him “groot” is like calling someone “guy.” The reality is that sense of self isn’t something that’s particularly important to some races
I think he was just saying that so captain would just understand it rocket who’s known group for way longer it still calls him Groot, we don’t even know if other species is alive
In the comics, his full name is "His Divine Majesty King Groot the 23rd, Monarch of the Branch Worlds" -- although there are sub-harmonic flourishes and implications that do not translate. For instance, the branches of his regal lineage are symbolically connected to the branches of the divine forests of his subjects, and the interlaced treaties and relationships to the intertwined roots of a great forest, and the everlasting nature of the rule of the Flora Colossi to the eternal stability of the World Tree Yggrasil. But "Tree" pretty much sums it up, yeah.
Yeah, but direct translation doesn't always work. If a French man says to an American woman "tu as du monde sur ton balcon", the direct translator would say, "you have a crowd in your balcony", but the actual meaning might offend her. 😊
Nono wait thor calls him tree because thor names things by their name except for humans but he even called rocket a rabbit and a racoon on 2 different occasion He even calls mjölnir hammer
It’s energy, the universal language. Those that understand this language also get a more detailed version of each movie. It’s like reading thoughts. Pretty cool. But those that unlock these abilities on their own and don’t sell may get attacked but don’t give in and you’ll do the impossible. If you give in they’ll have power over you.
