New York is mad territorial.. especially cats from the boroughs. Coming from lower Westchester..ie.. new Rochelle, mount Vernon and Yonkers which all border the Bronx at different sections they call us upstate and we right there in walking distance. LoL. So I can imagine how Buffalo cars feel who live 6hrs North of the city

Here's what Math was missing; Roc Marciano, Brownsville Ka, Mayhem Lauren, Rome Streetz, Boldy James, Conway, Spesh, Benny, Flee Lord, Eto, El Camino, Maach Homme and Hus Kingpin rapped a certain way and ran with a certain style of music. It wasn't just rapping about street shit but rapping over dark ass loops and samples... rapping over soul samples and sometimes going drumless. Itbwas a creative nuance approach/formula. Whether Math sees it or not; NY city was in to some other shit like South music and drill shit. Niggaz conformed. In the deep hood you could find the hard-core hip hop fan that's still into grimey music but the artists 80% were on some new shit while those dudes I mentioned created a new underground and shit was like abstract art. It was a formula of using art pieces for albums and merch, dark samples, soul samples, wrestling samples, vintage Wu type beats, and the independent grind. That's what separated those rappers from US. I always rapped grimey but no-one made beats that I liked and every rapper including Hoffa was making drill music and other shit that wasn't hitting cuz everyone sounded alike somehow. Niggaz don't wanna hear that but their music approach wasn't hitting. I'm from Brooklyn and I'm thankful that Roc Marciano and Ka led the way and thankful Shady records shined a light on Buffalo cuz it woke NY Hip Hop back up. Battle rap was cool but radio was trash and the mixtape scene is trash.

Growing up as a kid who was into old school on the block / I the record store battle rap and just real bars and rap, I do not listen to any New York artist that aren't Trust / Griselda....
