@@sluttyMapleSyrup Nah, only the launcher. Hands are way to small to be Maine’s, plus Maine’s left arm got obliterated in the explosion; David only recovered one. His hands are definitely the same model as Maine’s though
@@jooot_6850 It's refitted to his smaller arms, but the convo between the ripperdoc and David about the launcher and the end of episode 6 imply he got Maine's launcher fitted to his arm, hence why he sticks with an "outdated model" and actively refuses to get better hardware. Ripper even says the launcher barely fits him
This Scene makes everyone wanna die like a Legend in night city unless you form a relationship then there's no point in dying; Dee would've been at the same level as V if he adjusted incrementally to his Cyberware. This anime left me in tears bro
@@VanityVazKez2534 you're not wrong about that. It's mentioned by pondsmith that the relic acts as a buffer of sorts to prevent cyberpsychosis. That and having Johnny around to talk to helps V get past their trauma. Also, canonically, 2077's events take place in less than two weeks iirc, so not enough time for V to go full psycho anyway with all the chrome they're running.
David had no business trying to be Maine 2.0. His entire thing was speed, not overwhelming power like Maine. Katana, Knife, or pistol if he wanted to maximize his tech.
For those wondering, the Maelstrom goon most likely has a Kerenzikov which increases one’s reflexes and reaction time but not their speed. That’s why bro was moving slower than David and also stayed the same color as characters that are slower than the Sandevistan.
@@IamSoulfuller usually it does its job incredibly well, but it’s not match for David’s Sandy lol. It’s like pitting a high end pc against a military grade supercomputer 😭
@@Stage2Humans thanks! I’ve played the game through two times, so I’d hope that I have a decent understanding of what upgrades and builds are being used even if it’s in the anime lmao
I was on three hits of acid when I watched this show for the first time let’s just say I binged it all the way through and it was absolutely amazing, after that I went and bought the game bc I couldn’t get enough of the Aesthetic
@@harrisonanderson8514 bro tbh the slight comedy they had within all the deaths made it not that serious except a few like when Dorio and Becca died that’s when I was like oh shit! and also the scene where Maine asked the cops “is all this my fault” and he was covered in blood that exact frame was like oh shit 🔥
Unpopular opinion but David was a self sorry ass wipe that had all and threw it away because he felt "special". Dude is close to Sasuke in terms of being Anime pussy of eternity.
And then the kid who just witness one of the most badass scenes around town proceeds to blow up on a trip mine few moments later. Really pulled our leg that he’d be a new addition to the crew like David, but we see that David might have gotten lucky from the start
Theory of relatively works the exact opposite of that, also the sandevistan overclocks the human brain allowing time to be perceived slower its not that you auto adjust to the speed you're moving
@@Tonba1 Yeah, it's basically just temporarily overclocking your muscles' twitch-response and body's flight/fight response, but it's the same principle as that Futurama episode where Fry drinks a ton of coffee or how Quicksilver's power is depicted in films; the subjects' particles are moving so fast that everything else seems to stand still.
The anime miniseries can be summed up to: Main character discovers hacking and cheats in a videogame, until glitches and the devs getting involved ban him after he’s reported and is addicted to cheating, remove his account, and his save data is deleted permanently as a result. Paraphrasing of course.
It's worth it. Dub and sub are both great but the unique slang doesn't come through in the sub very well, nor does Pilar's personality as the human equivalent of a chaotic hyena.
I love this scene. It shows so much - how David's changed after Maine's death, how street cyberware is becoming advanced if a literal street gang has access to gear that can nearly rival davids, and also shows another reason David is becoming so chromed - he has to be one step ahead of everyone else. Plus that qoute from the crazy Malestromer about flying is kinda beautiful in a sad way, cant explain why.
I love that they show it from the fast persons perspective and then how it looks in real time! More shows with speedsters should really take notes. This is what we want to see!
Basically how it went in the game for me; non-lethal quickhack build, got the wrist launcher and put the tranq rounds in it... Never used the thing. Now I have a monowire and still use my bare fists more often.
Fr, David is essentially a speed build that speced into a tank build. He was so caught up on Maine that he neglected his own strengths, and it snowballed his psychosis. Kinda fits in with the whole "always trying to live others dreams" theme, bro even tried to remake his build😂
I'm pretty sure he used a Kerenzikov (spl?) Because in the game you only get one or two solid movements after activation. It's primarily used for dodging but after the initial couple moves you slow down to meet the world again in a really sticky way.
Could be a Berserk too since it increases attack speed, and we see the brute attempting to swing faster than David can punch rather than dodge David's attack.
Travis Willingham, a very well known voice actor, who's known best as Roy Mustang, Knuckles the Echidna, and of course, Grog Strongjaw in both Vox Machina and Critical Roll (all of the members of vox machina have their players as their voice actors.)
After watching the show did I realize smaller characters like these were used to show what happens in the near future The bum that killed Pilar was a prelude to cyberpsychosis that happens to Maine and this guy was to show that more people have the sandy now, like Adam Smasher
I'm not convinced it was a sandy over a berserk; the latter increases melee attack speed, we see only the motor nerves light up when it activates despite every sandy lighting up the spinal cord _and_ motor nerves, and the brute lacks the after-image and Tron-like trail effects. I think you're right about this being foreshadowing that David won't be able to outmaneuver future threats with just his sandy, but I think the immediate lesson for David was "Your sandy isn't the only thing that makes people faster."
Direct translation is "chum" in the Japanese dub, but as others said, it's a shortened version of "choomba". Funny story about its origin, "choom" was culturally appropriated from PoC communities' "choomba" within the Cyberpunk universe, becoming a staple of everyone's vocabulary by the time of Edgerunners and 2077. Also "preem" is just short for "supreme" and "nova" is just "cool".
i wish more fast action into slowed down scenes worked like this. just show me what’s done in slow motion and then rewind to rewatch it in normal speed. love this scene
Reminds me of the scene from DBS Superhero where we see the fight between Trunks from Frieza from an outside perspective, and what was originally portrayed as maybe minutes is actually seconds.
David's sandev is a rarer version than the other guy's, In game terms David had the legendary while the other guy got a rare, pretty apparent who would win
I really like to Diego it's sad that he got blown up in one episode but in the one episode that he was in the show he was really good ripped Diego and the rest of the edge Runner crew
I think that Maelstrom guy had a Kerenzikov not a Sandevistan Notice how his color is still as if he's in slow motion and that the XRAY doesn't show his Spine, where the Sandy is located, it shows his Head, where the Kerenzikov is
What I never see mentioned but stood out the very first time I saw this was "sure he runs and punches and jumps faster with Sandevistan, but HOW does he FALL faster?"
he should've done the dodge slide jump exploit from the early cyberpunk 2077 days and he would've went straight through the guy instead of having to jump over him 🤣
Cross country caravan, night city aliens, I pull the trigger and I feel nothinggg Love this song, though I liked It more when I didn't know what the lyrics were lol
I’m curious wouldn’t his gun shoot at the same rate as it normally does? The only thing the augmentation seems to do is make it to where he can move faster
I think it might be because the projectile launcher he installed in his arm is programmed to keep up with his body, even when he's using the sandevistan, which might be why it can fire instantly. Or I could be completely wrong idk
