By the gun/skin and supply and demand. You just compare it to different items and can basically estimate the skin value, and it will come down to what people are actually willing to pay for the skin

So it's unique in multiple ways and that makes it more attractive, then you also have the low float which is important for keeping the overall value high.

Oh well I have been playing since 2014 and actually stopped a long time ago opening cases. But, I opened around a hundred as well and not only I've never saw a gold in the opening animation, but I never ever dropped a single covert and my best drop was also my first classified and my first statrak. Yes with the 10% chance of statrak out of 100ish cases I only ever got 1....

rare items all have that kind of value. Same concept as coin or stamp collecting. It doesn't do shit, but people will pay big money for anything as long as it has some kind of unique value.
