Loved this when I was a kid but I have to say Martin, you're the only person I know who can get away with saying "get it into all the corners" when Sharon is spreading the jam on a round case 😂👍
Oh crumbs that takes you back a bit.! I remember that for school dinners with a nice custard. Yes I had it in the 60s. Hope your holiday is going well.
Never had this but it did remind me of making chocolate rice crispies or cornflake cupcakes as a kid with mum. She would melt the chocolate and I'd get to stir in the cereal and spoon in to cupcake papers. Didn't get much more simple than 2 ingredients.
Another enjoyable video, that was favourite desert when i was in Primary School. Toffee apple's were a nice treat at the fair in Wanted Flats. Dave B Thailand.
Hi Martin and Sharon, it looks really nice but as you say you couldn't eat a lot of it. It might be better with a tartier jam like blackcurrant. I'm going to try those pastry cases to make a Bakewell tart. I always keep the Chinese takeaway containers as they are good quality.
I don't really eat cornflakes. I may try it this way. I just watched one of your past vids. Nurse Sharon and amazing Ninja. Martin! You doing a gr8t job looking after Sharon and thank you for the update on how to maintain the portable gas burner and the danger that can happen if not maintained and checked Cheers ❤️
Thanks for making my absolute favourite pudding cornflake flan/tart absolutely delicious loved it at high school still love it now.❤ thanks Sharon and Martin ❤
We had pink custard at school in the 50s and you could buy packets from Brown and Polsen with sachets of different flavour custard-raspberry, banana, orange etc, but it doesn’t seem to be available now.
Hello you two. I rememver the cornflake tart. I also remember my mum using Golden Syrup, breadcrumbs and lemon - no jam. All went well with lots of custard. Keep up the good work - I really enjoy your videos.
takes me back , i loved school dinners do you remember they used to cover the small ones in melted chocolate, that was a good size tart to go into the oven , could you do a proper quiche some time in the cosori oven , i wondered if it would cook the bottom well as it had the elements at the bottom also, i have trouble with soggy pastry at the bottom and wondered if the cosori would rectify this .. many thanks for your very enjoyable blogs
I do LOVE the smell of Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup - probably add some ground almonds to the base for extra naughtiness! You know what you should be making next: Spotty Dick - with custard! Warm the cockles of yer heart!
Oooh yum yum 😋 I don't like chocolate so crispy cakes etc are a no-no for me, but this looks like an amazing swap! Also I'm gluten free so I can use my own gf cornflakes (or even rice krispies I think) Thanks so much for this. Hope you're both having an amazing holiday 🇬🇷 Food in Greece is always amazing!! 😋 😋
Don't remember ever having Cornflake tart at school dinners...Tapioca/Semolina with a 'dollop' of strawberry jam that we we would stir in to make pattens...bit like coffee shops do to coffee... It the fifties we eat kellogg's for breakfast...
I remember making this at school I lived it, I made it a few weeks ago and wasn’t to keen as to sweet for me even though I do like my puddings , looked good though
That takes me back to school dinners, find it to far sweet to be honest. A question for you both I have a 2 drawer air fryer, wanting to buy something else I have an induction job, had good reviews on the Cosori dual blaze and the oven thingy, I like the pressure cooker but they frighten me, what appliance would you recommend out of all of your appliances please, I’m swaying towards the dual blaze but after seeing the oven demos on your channel I’m not sure, thank you in anticipation xx loving all your videos btw, I’ve been binge watching xx
I don’t remember cooking ours? Just golden syrup, knob of butter and maybe melted mars bar, or marshmallows, and they would set in little cases or tray. We never used pastry cases, jam and baking. Maybe I’ll give your way a try.
We had a neibour when I was a kid she usued to make toffee apples we usued to stand on a crate & she wld pass it threw kitchen window we had to give her 3p old money bout 50 of us kids queuing up lol do ya rem semolina at school yummy xxx
Hi Sharon and Martin my mum used to make spam fritters with pork luncheon meat I'm one of 6 kids and luncheon meat was cheaper than spam and jt still js I love bacon grill and sometimes we have bacon grill instead of bacon for our fryip love fran ❤xxxxx
Think your onto something there Martin with not seeing penny for the guy anymore you could dress Lee Vancamp up and nip down to the village selling toffee apples raising money for a local charity, keep up the good work folks great videos.
I have made something out of a book called My Learn To Cook Book as a boy which it called Crispy Crackolates - or, as you may know them better as - cornflake cakes - you can have them plain or dipped in chocolate - you can also use Rice Krispies as well! Should work well with cornflakeses, Rice Krispies and maybe Sugar Puffs! My first boarding school rarely did proper puddings - they were obsessed with fruit all the time! Those cupcakes - they’re what I mean by “cornflake cakes” - other cereals might work! You might want to consider adding some squashed fly fruit!
Must be an English thing..We never had what you call school lunches? We just had packed lunches our Mums made for us! I agree Sandra..Too sweet and sickly after a couple of mouthfuls!.
Looked yummy. I used to have this when I was a kid too. We cheated and just put. Or flakes on top of a jam tart. Serious question now ….What I don’t get when a recipe says use unsalted butter and then says add salt in the recipe. What’s the point of using unsalted butter. lol.
