I was out at our place in Ocean Shores that night. near Oyhut, I have bortle 3/4 skies. I had setup to shoot some AP, and had forgotten about the aurora. by the time I was setup and ready, I noticed the sky's were really grey. An hour or so later, wow, naked eye aurora everywhere. Such a magical night.

That must have been beautiful that night especially with the ocean sound in the background. I have so many good memories out there at OS as I am sure we all do here. Thank you for sharing that experience and I appreciate you watching this one!

I was in Middle Tennessee that night. I was at my sister's house. She had come home from the nursing home on hospice, because she wanted to pass away at home. She had gone to sleep for the evening, and I was sitting outside enjoying the night air. I kept seeing what looked to me like searchlight beams, and the sky seemed to be glowing and moving. I figured the movement was high clouds. I was in a city, and there was a lot of light noise around. I had no idea about the solar storm or the possibility of seeing the aurora, as my attention was more on my sister at that time, rather than the news. My husband called, and told me to go outside, that he could see it in Alabama. I told him I supposed that was what I was seeing. It was fascinating, once I figured it out. It was very dim there though, due to the lights of the city. My husband got a much better view from our home, as it is in a rural environment. I honestly figured the northern lights was something I'd never see. So it was pretty cool to know that even though it was dim, I saw it. My sister passed on May 15th at the young age of 75. She was happy to be at home, and to be going to a new home to see our family who passed before. I was happy I was able to be there with her and for her during her transition. Thanks for the great video!

I'm glad you got to see them. I'm in PA, and we got clouded out. Did you see all those colors with just your eyes, or is that what the camera picked up?

On May 10th, was at home trying to image M101 with my Telescope, the data was not looking good, so I went outside in my backyard and saw the Aurora in London, U.K They said the last time the Aurora was seen this far south in England was 22 years ago
